Taylor at his peak was better than Rance, and I'd def have him before Cotchin.

Harry Taylor is a great footballer but I doubt many would agree with you that he is better than Rance at Rances peak (which has been for the past 4 years), as to a comparison with Cotchin that make no sense, one is a midfielder the other a key backman. Nobody tries to compare Rance with Dangerfield, or Buddy with Gary Ablett.

Nice troll ...

and for what its worth this is the first year since 2007 where other clubs might take Kreuzer before Cotchin, he was always injured, Carlton even tried to dump Kreuzer 2 years ago but there were no takers.

Don read so good, hey?

Didn't compare Taylor and Cotchin...said I'd have one before the other. If I could choose one, I'd choose Taylor. Sorry if that offends you, but I reckon you'd find quite a few who think that way.

As for Taylor v Rance...well, I reckon HT's flexibility gets him over the line, but Rance is four years younger, so who knows how I'll feel about it by the time they've both finished. That's the beauty of our footy opinions isn't it? We're all arseholes...

And for what it's worth I never brought up Kreuzer. Thanks for the history of his career, though...I don't really pay attention to any Carlton players!

Nice troll...

Per basic economic theory value is driven by to scarcity of resources; so therefore Cyril (as an elite small forward) is more valuable then Cotchin (a great midfielder).

Meh. The incremental benefit of elite production from small forward over what is commonly available for the position is not worth paying for the scarcity. Brownlow-level mids have similar scarcity but return more value.

A 'one dimensional' player is generally only able to play in one position or be limited in their abilities. Considering Rioli is an exceptional crumbing forward first and foremost, but also has the ability to play through the midfield,
Has quality kicking and handballing skills not to mention his tackling. Plus he has an X factor and ability to do things that are rare.

Would you describe Cotchin as one dimensional because he really is only able to play midfield?

he is one dimensional because he has never been able to evolve into a midfielder. ever.

Cotchin can play anywhere, as can all genuine midfielders.

I really don't think cotchin can play anywhere. What's he like at full back? I'd say that rioli has evolved into a better midfielder than cotchin has as a small forward.

Really Cotchin and Rioli are about equal. Both very good players that every side would have so there is no point comparing. Some say Rioli is overrated, but when he's on he's one of the best going around. Cotchin likewise is underrated and from day one has been a star (apart from the last two years). Playing great footy this year again.

What a stupid article. Kreuzer has played 1 month of good footy in 10 bloody years and they want to discuss where he stands? I'll tell you where he stands. At present he is an absolute flop.

Christ, the amount of money Carlton has sunk into the bloke and what they've gotten back to date is outrageous. Needs to put together a few consistent seasons and they sure as shit could have done with a better #1 pick who was on the park more the last 10 years
Ruckmen don't usually peak until 27-28, and kreuzer's clearly been outstanding this year. Hope he can continue this through the next few years but I think his importance to the team has been long understated.

He's been important to carlton because the other options in the ruck were so poor. He's just missed too many of his good years through injury (either missed games or not playing at 100%), that it's impossible to rate him too highly. Here's hoping he stays injury free and enjoys the next few years.

Sam Mitchell to full forward?

Rioli has never been a midfielder because of his hamstring injuries. Instead he's just become a livewire crumbing forward who is unstoppable when he's on form.

He is worth the price of entry, and it doesn't really matter what you say about him - his exploits in big games and on grand final day will mean he will be remembered longer than most in the competition.

if you had a choice to get cotchin or cyril at the bomers tomorrow. who would it be?
Cyril! Match winner in finals absolute jet when it matters!
People saying cyril couldnt be a midfielder i reckon is crap. Has regularly had midfield minutes and attends a fee centre bounces! Unlike richmond the hawks whilst cyril has been there have had the most dynamic midfield in the comp
