Rioli better than Taylor?
Rioli was good for around 2-3 years and not on a week by week basis, but in flashes.
Taylor on the other hand has been a key player consistently for a decade.
You'd only pick Rioli before Taylor if you already had a full list and had the luxury of adding cream on top.
Harry Taylors from 2010-2014 was top 10 in the AFL, AA squad in each of those seasons and making the team twice. He was still really good in 2008/09 however.Taylor at his peak was better than Rance, and I'd def have him before Cotchin.

Alex Rance for comparison has made the squad 3 times and made the team every time.
If we are comparing from debut to present I personally have to think Taylor has been better. However if picking a team now, Rance is the obviously choice between the 2 and is obviously currently a better player.

Yeah ive noticed, Taylor is 30 however, and is still playing better than Cloke at an older age.Taylor for mine has really dropped off since he signed his long term contract, like Cloke did at Collingwood.

In Cloke defence, his first year of his big contract was arguably is best, almost won the coleman.
A 50 goal a game (and #2 or in assists) power forward is worth more than a defender.
OIAG LOL....one of those tags that is abused. Like "star"Taylor over a OIAG defender in Rance??!!
Once in a generation?Taylor over a OIAG defender in Rance??!!
Never realised how good this draft was
2007 was also a bad time for a player who needed development ending up at Melbourne.
It would be interesting to know what could have happened for players if they'd been drafted into the "right" teams for their best chance at development.
Some players would be successful wherever they were drafted, some would fail wherever they were drafted, but there are certainly some who are made or broken by the team that picks them.
injuries. has played 10+ games in a season 3 times in his career.David Myers really goes under the radar when analysing failed first round draft picks.
Sure, he consistently gets games, but he's usually in the bottom 4-5 and almost never in the best half playing for Essendon. Never seems to have standout games and in the context of this draft went before guns such as Dangerfield, Rioli, Rance and Taylor.

Plus was played out of position early. big inside mid - spent a lot of early days off HBF.
Remind me of Cotchin's finals record vs Rioli'sI'd probably put Cotchin over Rioli.
Also, Give 2-3 years and Harry Taylor won't be that high.
Taylor at his peak was better than Rance, and I'd def have him before Cotchin.
Cotchin is a brownlow medalist, he's had some patchy form at time, but think people like to underate how good he is.
I have clearly missed something with Myers, incredibly underwhelming.David Myers really goes under the radar when analysing failed first round draft picks.

Strange, I swear Walker only averaged about 40 goals a game. GOATYeh, but Taylor has pulled Rance's pants down so many times that he does not play on him any more! A 50 goal a game (and #2 or in assists) power forward is worth more than a defender. Tex has 'won' more games than Rance. Tex has been in the mix for AA for every year he has been fit.
