2007 Draw

In the HS today it says that we're one of the 4 teams playing the Hawks down in Tassie. The other three being Geelong, Port and West Coast.

I suppose with our VFL alignment, it makes some sense for us to play the Dawks down there - although I'm not sure if the North/South rivalry thing sees us as Southerners and them as Northereners? Does Tassie normally play out of Hobart, and the Dawks in Launceston?

As mentioned above, the draw WAS expected out today but has been postponed, pending the TV broadcast discussions between FOXTEL and ch10, who are acting on behalf of themselves and the 7 network.

As for Good Friday Footy..........my $0.02 worth is that I want us to play EVERY Friday night during the season, including Good Friday NIGHT. Even the bible belt USA do so and the way I see it a night game on that day wouldn't be problematic.

BTW, for rb214, I was raised a Catholic as well, for what that's worth in this discussion!!!!

The Kangas will get a Good Friday game eventually. We will suffer the controversy, the allegations that we are the antiChrist etc. Then the games will attract crowds so they will give Good Friday to Collingwood.

May as well enjoy the couple of years we might get.

According to Eddie, the Good Friday game should go to Collingwood straight away so they can establish the date as a blockbuster event before handing it over to other clubs to share. Kind of like they've done with Anzac Day.

You forgot to mention they also share the Queens birthday game Vs Melbourne and the Peter Mac Cup Vs Carlton, the Bob Rose trophy match with The Bulldogs, John Kennedy Trophy with Hawthorn, Lou Richards/Jack Dyer Cup with Richmond. And They are still sh1te. Greedy C**ts

The Hawks chose Launceston because the vast bulk of their Tasmanian support is there. (The Hobart Mercury continually claims it was to win seats at a state election, but that doesn't stand up ro any scrutiny with the nature of the Tasmanian electoral system.) Bellerive would also be useless in a wet winter, the hill would not be useable and capacity reduced to somewhere around 11 or 12k.

Tassie play (mostly) at Bellerive for a number of reasons. Not least is the number of Clarence Football Club people in locl footy administration (one of the reasons bellerive rather than another Hobart groiund became the new home of the TCA was Denis Rogers role as Clarence cricket and football president and head of the TCA at the time). Also Hobart has just under half the population in one place, while just over half live in the north. People will travel for a couple of AFL games a year, but not for the VFL so VFL crowds are signifivantly larger in Hobart.
