please notry again mystical mac.
Rubbish. He's a good player who compliments a great backline. Let's see how he goes when he's the main man, without Scarlett, Milburn and Harley. I still wouldn't rate him in the top 10.If you are basing it on what they've shown, Harry Taylor has to be number 1. Has done more than anyone else from that draft.
This is the best effort Ive so far imo. Otten, Grimes and Vezpremi might go slightly higher, and Ive noticed a few people underating how good Morton has been.
In any case, with hindsight its shaping up as one of the better drafts - quite a bit of quality here.
I take it you didn't see him take on THE main man in Riewoldt in THE biggest game of the year and give him a bath. Which he has done before, in a final too. He is playing as a key position player against the best forwards week after week and at the very least holding his own, yet you would take McEvoy ahead of him? Oh please.Rubbish. Kreuzer and Cotchin would still be 1 and 2. 3 to 10 is a toss up between Rioli, Dangerfield, Pears, McEvoy, Masten, Ward, Palmer and Grimes.
There are few quality ruckmen in the AFL. From the few glimpses that I've seen, McEvoy will be in the top half dozen in a few years time. Unlike Blake, McEvoy's a natural footballer.I take it you didn't see him take on THE main man in Riewoldt in THE biggest game of the year and give him a bath. Obviously Ottens, but given the state of our ruck stocks, he is our most important (add to this that I rate Ottens as the 3rd best ruckman in the game). But the difference is that Ottens is a proven gun, McEvoy is unfilled potential at this stage, while Harry has shown plenty, with plenty more to come. There are few quality ruckmen in the AFL. Who's more important to Geelong, Taylor or Ottens?
You are having a laugh if you think we wouldn't take Kreuzer at pick 1.
Cyril is ridiculously over-hyped on these boards. Very good young player but would not displace Kreuzer at 1 or Cotchin at 2.
How many years has is taken Ottens to be a proven gun? Any recruiter who uses a top 10 pick based on the players' short term impact, is a fool. Nobody should expect McEvoy to make an impact in his 1st 2 seasons, especially when he's competing for a place in a top team against seasoned ruckmen in Gardiner and King.Obviously Ottens, but given the state of our ruck stocks, he is our most important (add to this that I rate Ottens as the 3rd best ruckman in the game). Ottens was AA in his 4th year, and had almost as many hitouts in fewer games in the previous year. He also kicked 20 goals and had 10 hitouts a game in his second year. Probably not a good example for you. But this isn't about Ottens, and yes, generally ruckman take time to develop. How many years has is taken Ottens to be a proven gun? And you seem to forget that Taylor was drafted as a mature aged player. He was expected to have an immediate impact, which suited Geelong's purposes.
It's another Case of the Overrated Rioli.
Even on exposed form Kreuzer would still go before Cyril... easily.
