I'm very happy with my position! However it does seem that it is not totally random. If people are unhappy it would be easy to allocate a number to each of the potential buddy drafters and put that through an online random number generator.

If it hasn't already been done a completely random system would be fairer. Doesn't seem to have been done compltely at random. and lol I'm not only saying that because of my position.
I just ran the list that was put up by EBIAC and put it through the randomiser on random.org which is supposed to be completely random. If you are all happy I say we go with this result....

I think the order should be based on post count or the day you joined.

I think the list randomizer is the way to go. If somebody isn't happy with the one Dima did for some reason, then we do one more randomizer, and make that list final. If everybody is happy with the way Dima's list was conducted then lets go with that then. It seems fair to me
The one other reasonably fair way to do it would be to have 2 groups. The first group would be made up of the heavier contributors such as HBF, Gilly, AWG, etc. The second group would be made up of the remainder of the potential buddies, including myself. The 2 groups would then be randomised and then group 1 would be placed above group 2.
The first group would have say 6 or 7 posters which would give everyone a reasonable chance at a good player but also recognise the great contribution from some posters on a regular basis.

That is a good idea, but I think the fairest way for all to do it would be a completely random order <insert Gilly whinge here>.
Yeah and probably the other problem is working out where you would draw the line in such a scenario which could cause some animosity.

I would imagine that it would be pretty simple to differentiate between the frequent and the not so frequent posters.
The point is that doing so represents something which we don't really want to encourage on the Carlton board and so it shouldn't be used.
