I don't know how to post up our draw, but some of the features are

NAB cup round 1 v Geelong at Geelong, so we wont have much of a NAB cup campaign.

12 games at the G, 10 home, 2 away
3 games at the dome, all away
1 game at geelong

2 at AAMI
1 at Subi
1 at Gold Coast
1 at the gabba
1 home game in Canberra, against, u guessed it Sydney!!! Why don't we play someone else there??? (I think its the clubs choice not the AFL's)

So it really is a total of 5 interstates, which isn't the end of the world but its a little insulting that we only get 12 games at the dome, at least one of the geelong/dome/gold coast games should be at the G.

We only get 1 night game, a Friday night against Geelong, the bastards count two Sunday twilights as night games. Come on give us some exposure. TOTAL of 15 games on Sunday, footy gets played on Saturday!!! The rest of the comp get at least 5 genuine night matches (Fri/Sat) we only get 1.

Round 1: Sunday twilight against the Hawks at 4.40pm

Play twice: Hawthorn (1,9), Richmond (12,22), Fremantle (7,16), Bulldogs (2,15), Kangaroos (4,17), Brisbane (6,14), Geelong (3,19). Which isn't great because I'm confident Geelong, Hawthorn and Brisbane will be there abouts and Freo, Bulldogs and the Roos have the ability to be top teams.

We play Richmond in their home game at the Dome??? Yet we play Essendon at the G in their home game, so thats not too bad.

Buy Foxtel Now!!! 12 games on Fox, 7 on 7 (doubt many are live), 3 games on 10. Reflects our heap of Sunday games

Good points;
5 out of last 6 at the G!!! (including final round against the tigers) Finally we get a good run to the finals.

Actually not the worst fixture. Still very angry why we have to play the tiges at the dome when the bulldogs that week get a home game on the G against brisbane.

How wierd is it we play hawks in rd1 and rd 9

These are the interstate clubs we play at the G

Rd 7 v freo Sunday (could be a low crowd)
rd 14 V Brisbane Sunday ( probably pull a decent crowd)
Rd 20 V West Coast (same as above you would think)

This is intrestign in comparison to some of our interstate games last year where we only managed about 18000

Suddenly we're the kings of the novelty start time.

Prediction: When we're 3-10 or something that will start to be the excuse for the typical MFC supporting softcox to stop showing up. "Oh, I can't take it that they change the time every week".

Not bad, considering how shit we were this year.
1 friday night game was to be expected.

Good to see that TV rules the AFLs fixture. Fonzie certainly has the bottom line...er, I mean the game's interests at heart.

Pissed off we have to play the Roos at the Gold Coast in round 4. Could've easily had 5 interstate trips if we played them here.

I'll go over this fixture with a fine tooth combe ala Spaceballs later but my initial reaction given what I have read so far on BF is that it is a case of same shit different year.

6 Interstate games.

12 MCG games. The Pies only have 14 this year at the MCG so someone hit the jackpot.

The run home seems to be a breath of fresh air but does not seem to make up for Leyland Brothers travelling around the country side.

not a great draw, 6 interstate trips i pretty average, the most of any vic team, although 1 of them is sold to sydney and another is against the roos so thats pretty much even. Its a pity that when we finally get a good draw in the lead-up to the finals that we probably won't make it, as oppoed to 2004-06 when we'd have 1 game at the g in the last 8 or something pathetic like that

Havent had a chance to look at the draw in detail, i hate TD with a passion. In 2005 we played them there it was the first time in the clubs history we havent played eachother at the MCG during season proper. Its rediculous the MCG is OUR ground we shud play 15 games there 5 interstate and 2 at TD. but we sell two home games gabba and Manuka.
makin it 13 home (2 at td) and 7 intersate effectively.

that is the best draw we have had in alot of years....

1 trip to perth

finals next year for the red and blue.

5 out of last 6 games at the g.....good run home.

hopefully all our boys are 100% fit come round 1.

That could make or break a decent season those 3 games. The draw isn't too bad but I'd have liked to play Collingwood and Essendon twice. We need some big crowd games. All interstate games are on foxtel so I'll have to do a lot of friend-mooching there :(

All I'm happy about is the Skilled Stadium game!! Finally get to go back and get them some shit!

It's not a bad draw, could have been better but you never know - teams who look good NOW might have fallen over by the time we get to them. Hawthorn will be a ripper in round one!

im happy with the draw, i mean lets face it we were crap last year (i know injuries) so we dont deserve the expossure of friday night games. We dont draw crowds either so the afl dont have much options. Yes im glad we are at skilled stadium again down here at the "veggie patch" i call it. Just spewin its not on a saturday so i cant get smashed:mad:. But draw is pretty good overall, glad im getting foxtel though!!!

Would've preferred less Sunday games, I often have footy around that time but hey. More night games, but we sucked it last year. We'll get creamed but I'll go down to Geelong for the NAB cup game and make it to mostly every game in Vic.

Yes, even the ones that are twilight or at the dome.

Too many Sunday games. Sunday sucks for me especially those stupid twilight games.
To get a better draw Melbourne must draw bigger crowds and win more games.
I'll be attending all the games at MCG and the Dome.
We all better get used to receiving 6 interstate games each year. What with us and North and Hawthorn all playing home games interstate plus Bulldogs it all means more interstate games for all Vic teams except the flaming Magpies.

Don't Like:
- Richmond v Melbourne at the dome.
Two traditional tenants of the MCG playing each other at the Dome... enough said.
- Fact that we have not played everyone by round 15.
Not as bad as Hawthorn having to wait til rd22 to play Carlton but I don't understand why we play Hawthorn twice in 9 weeks while we play teams once in 22 weeks.
- Road trip late in the year.
Not as bad as previous years I guess but the trek to Adelaide in Rd21 might prove disastorous. Trips to Adelaide and Perth are bad for us at the best of times let alone near the end of the year.
- Sunday Games
Surely we should get some Saturday games at the G, the twilight games should be spread around and not dumped on us. Everyone knows they are crap so everyone should have to suffer it evenly.
- Lack of night games
Yes we dont pull crowds and were shlt last year but only one night game. We don't have much of a case for more Friday Night games but a Saturday night game at the dome against the dogs maybe?

stop complaining about the melbourne richmond game on the sunday at the dome!
they were never going to put us on the G ahead of a collingwood carlton game.
if they played us on the saturday instead of the bulldogs brisbane game then we'd have a 5 day break because the week before we have the queens birthday game on the monday.
i guess they couldve had us play someone that isnt a co-tenant of the MCG but the rest of their reasoning is very... reasonable.

Who said Melbourne has to play Richmond that round, just because of other games in that round it shouldn't mean we have to play Richmond at the dome.

Well said.
What is the point of two teams who share a home ground and have shared for decades and decades not being able to play each other on their home ground.
Shame on you AFL.
As for Twilight games they suck. Great to watch on Tv so why not fixture a game out of Perth each week beamed back to Melbourne starting at 4.40pm Melbourne time, that's about 2.40 pm Perth time. Would be perfect for everyone.
But no the AFL want people to go to the footy early Sunday evening and get home from the game at 9 or 10 pm then go straight to be to get up for work early the next morning.
I guess the AFL didn't get the message in 2007 with the awful Melbourne attendances for the Twilight games.
Go Dees

That draw sucks c@#k, and the reason why? Because 13 of the teams we play this year are better than us. F#@king Richmond at the Dome has been some of the worst experiences of my life, thank god it's not on a Friday night where all the teeny bobbers rock up an scream in in my f@#king ear for absolutley no reason. It's quater time for Christ's sake!

That run home sucks, and for the fool that hopes we have no injuries at the start of the season; are you serious man? What, are you completley ******ed? No injuries?

Jeez they even sent me my membership card in October, wtf?

Thank god we have Rivers and if he ever returns to SA I will break his legs! Backwards!

I'm starting an 'I hate Travis Johnstone Club', yeah i know he was great for us and a great bloke, get stuffed where are the ruthless psyco Melbourne Fans? We're the DEMONS for f@&k sake.

TIME TO GET MEAN.

BAILEY, FLAG NOW! OR PAINFUL DEATH.

Who said Melbourne has to play Richmond that round, just because of other games in that round it shouldn't mean we have to play Richmond at the dome.

yeah i agree with that point. but then the AFL has to reorganise the fixture rather than just the venue.

overall its a bad fixture. so many sunday games, twilight games, and only 1 night game.
the kangaroos get 7 sat night games i think. surely we could have had a couple more.
