Pick 53 -- Fremantle -- Christopher Hall

Super quick smallish onballer who has pace to burn. Much like Zaharakis but Hall has bit more zip and if he can bulk up would be an exciting player at Subi

No he wasn't, Jayden Post won the Jets best and fairest.

Anyway i agree with CHBench, i think he had a much better year last year. He played mostly as an inside midfielder last year which is where he would be likely to play in the AFL and showed promising signs. This year though he decided to play more outside for the Jets. Someone like him is not an outside prospect and he is not quick and his disposal can really let him down at times, to me he went backwards.

its just go show how much s**t you write he played back pocket last year and then went foward

54. Port Adelaide - Rhys Stanley (West Adelaide) - MID to BOTTOM AGED 200 / 89 Ruck/forward

  • 2008 SA U-18 squad
  • Basketball background
  • 2 games of SANFL experience
  • Good kick for a ruck ... very good action, particularly set shots, where he really kicks through the footy
  • Pace decent for a ruck
  • Top notch vertical leap
  • Highly competitive
  • V.good tackler ... chases down midfielders (not quite Naitanui-like but great to a ruck willing to do that)
  • Good pack grab ... hits the ball hard + has clean hands

I think Port need to add 2 more rucks on their list in the upcoming drafts with Brogan and Lade are both hitting the twilight of their careers and Stanley is one that has particularly impressed me as a ruck prospect that has plenty to work with. He already has some chemistry with Redden having worked with him in the 08 U-18 championships which further firmed his selection in my mind.

Oh, thanks mate, never knew i had such an avid follower.

You know he played through the middle also but you seem to be a fan of his and your opinion on him obviously differs to mine, i respect that but obvious you don't mine so i don't have anymore time for you.

Pick 55 - Essendon - Steven Gaertner

Gone for the taller player here who long term could play as a key defender but also has the athleticism to play on a wing.

Pick 57 - Brisbane - Liam Shiels

This guy had a very good U/16 champs last year, being a bottom aged brisbane will take a punt here. I know they're still looking for a Ruck, they will get their man later in the draft.

Runs hard to receive the uncontested mark and just seems to have a little skill, with the next few drafts coming up they're trying to lock in future talent nice and early.

Pick 58 - Richmond - Michael Still

CHBench sent this name in a PM...

Liam Shiels, Tarquin?

59. North Melbourne - Hamish Shepheard (East Perth) - MID-AGED 194/81 KPF/KPD

- 2008 WA U-18 squad
- Very reliable at FB in the 08 U-18 championships ... best game vs Vic Country
- Reads play well
- Good understanding of playing as a defender... knows when to zone off or stick to the man
- Tested poorly at SS, but acceptable on-field athleticism
- Can play both ends ... has kicked big bags for EP Colts
- See KPD as his best role at AFL level, probably CHB ... with the ability to pinch-hit up forward like Petrie

59. North Melbourne - Hamish Shepheard (East Perth) - MID-AGED 194/81 KPF/KPD

Yeah mate, sorry I was thinking Luke Stanton for a while there and joined the two players.

Making selections while trying to sort out your emails is not the best thing to do.

Pick 60 - Adelaide - Riley Milne

They have taken a mid, ruck/KPF and a forward. Now it is time to get a backman and Milne could be best available here. Milne is a tall, athletic, skinny defensive player with very good skills for a tall player. He is fearless with his attack on the ball. A decent pick up here with potential for the Crows.

Pick 61 - Sydney - Luke Rounds

Added a bottom aged mid who can run and is tough in the "Bloods" style to the 2 KPPs already taken.

Pick 62 - St Kilda - Jordan Jones

Very happy to snap up Jones here. Capable of playing up forward and down back, he'll provide a little bit of flexibility (along with Trengove). With our lack of developing key backs and very few developing key forwards he'll provide us with another option.

Pick 63 - Hawthorn - Todd Banfield

Another player from the Swans production line, very quick bloodnut. He has the ability to kick over distance and on both sides. He played in the GF of the WAFL and did not look out of place. I actually rate this kid rather highly, he would be a great late round pick up.

Pick 64 - Melbourne - Andrew Renton

Melbourne are in need of another ruckman after chopping Jeff White. I have noticed the rucks start off really good in the first 2rounds and then they fall away dramatically. Renton here imo is the best available ruck. 202 cm and 94 kg he's a nice size for a ruck. He's tap work is good and general skills are good too. Moves around the ground well and can snag a few goals up forward.

Pick 69 - Carlton - Nathan O'Keefe

The blues need forwards and selecting Yarran is going part the way towards helping out Fevola.

They wanted a different O'Keefe during trade week, they will have to accept Nathan. He is a tallish forward, once again has good hands and a knows how to kick a goal. Worth a late round selection.

70. Port Adelaide - Rory Sloane (Eastern Ranges) - TOP-AGED 182 / 78 small defender/midfielder

Very much in the retired Wilson's mould and would be a great replacement if picked up by Port. While playing as a small defender for Vic Metro in the U-18 championships, he has played various roles including through the midfield for Eastern, which shows his versatility.

I would just like to say a big thanks to everyone that has done this mock draft, we have been going for around 6 days and almost completed the draft.

jgb99, very impressed by your knowledge and posting.

We've all done a good job, now we just sit back and wait for the real draft to happen and see roughly how well we did for each team.

Cheers Tarqs ... great work co-ordinating this mock draft and by all the other recruiters in keeping it flowing smoothly :thumbsu: They normally take a lot longer to get through and have a habit of dragging on, but the pace of this one has been top notch.

Pick 69 - Richmond- Charlie Sharples

Absolute livewire up forward, very very dangerous. To sum him up. Lightning quick, ordinary kick. Get his kicking right and he could become a very handy player for the tigers.

70. North Melbourne - Liam Anthony (East Fremantle) – MATURE-AGE 189 / 87 MIDFIELDER/WING/FLANK

  • Hard runner ... but didn't test well for endurance for some reason ?
  • Ball magnet
  • Strong build
  • Versatile
  • Goal kicker from the midfield (averages more than 1 per game)
  • V.good OH grab
  • Straight line player
  • Above average footskills – good weighting, uses both sides and can kick the pill 55m+ on his right
  • Decent stoppage skills ... but think he’ll be more of an outside mid at AFL
  • Tested quicker than I thought he was at 2008 SS (2.95s 20m time)

I've gone for a lot of outside mids for North, but I believe it is a weakness of theirs. The previous one’s I selected are both bottom-aged and will require a couple of years physical development, but both have star potential. Anthony gives them an AFL ready one that doesn’t have that ceiling, but can come in round 1 next year and have an impact after a very fine season at WAFL level. North tend to like recruiting mature-agers in the ND so wouldn't be surprised if they have some interest (and we already know he looks good in blue and white).
