Why does that matter? This is about which midfield is better, not which one can go forward/back
That is what midfield can play midfield and then rest at another position and excel at it due to the cap.

Why doesn't it matter? It's important for the midfield to play more than one position. It seems players like Redden, Rockliff and Moloney can't do that

Rockliff has spent half his career up forward. Hanley plays just about everywhere. Zorko spends a lot of time up forward, as does Mayes. Rich rotates through half back

Yeah so 41 goals in 83 games for Rockliff, Zorko isn't a midfielder then going by what you said, as well as Mayes. I think you have a decent midfield but you lack depth and mate you just overrate it badly.

41 goals from 30-40ish games as a half forward flanker aint too bad. Zorko and Mayes play both midfield and forward

Shuey, Selwood, Masten, Wellingham, Priddis, Gaf

vs.

Rockliff, Rich, Redden, Moloney, Hanley, Zorko

Lions would win every day of the week
Mayes>Crouch

And I didn't even mention Mayes in our best midfield 6.
As highly as I rate our midfield I think that you are overrating our midfield and criminally underrating Adelaide and West Coast's midfields.

Stats say otherwise.

This is the difference between you and me - I don't place such a great importance on stats - I look for hurt factor and influence - For me, Rockliff has limited impact in the midfield - has good hands in close, clean ball handler, but kicking is only solid, doesn't have breakaway pace. In the forward line, rockliff produces a bigger bag of tricks - can find space, make space for team-mates, and is very good at spotting up targets by hand or foot.

I explained this before, we were 2 kicks from the finals, read up
Yeah and if my auntie had knackers she'd be my uncle.

You were 2 kicks from the 9th best side for the year, one of those kicks in a game you didn't even play in. Extraordinary circumstances meant you would've played a final and thank god you didn't because I couldn't have dealt with Richmond supporters having won a final.

Rockliff is a good player. Congratulations. But for example, Beams & Zaharakis have won b&f's in sides that actually finished in the top half of teams that year. Naitainui, Beams and Hannebery are AA's. That's 4 players with greater achievements to date than being really good in an 8 week period.

Rockliff is an exceptionally good get for what was paid but I would take the 4 listed above along with a number of others before him.

*inb4 oh but you're drug cheats so deserved to be removed from finals and did you see that time we beat you with Brent Staker being good.

You beat 1 team that played finals and copped a lot of hidings. You were miles off it - it is the reason you are 14th to win next years flag. Suns are shorter.

Just a question, do you actually watch Lions games? Or just go off stats and highlights?

Suns are shorter because the media love them, doesn't stop us owning them everytime we play them though.

Them aside you look like a bottom 6 side. I watched enough to see you win games against the bottom sides and rarely trouble the top sides.

-facepalm-

You didn't read up did you?

Yep, that's why we won against Essendon, Geelong (nearly twice) and even beat North, who were unlucky to lose to the top sides. We're a young side, inconsistency is to be expected, but there's scope for improvement.

If things went your way last season, you could have been in a top 4 position. But you are a bottom 8 side according to the ladder. It's not always the literal meaning that counts. Sides will be very wary of North next season, and they have every reason to be.

If Leuenberger didn't go down in the final minutes against Carlton, we could have been in finals too. Funny game AFL, it changes every year and that's what exciting.

We beat your side, how bad does that make you?

Quit being childish. They thrashed us at Etihad.

Bottom 8 side? You do know I support the Roos?

Well there is good money for you to make - take the $5 to make the 8.
