Note, Armo had a 14.03 beep test and 10.36 min 3k run in 2006.
Mini had 15.1 beep test, 8.0 agility test, and 10.38 time trial in 2004.

St Kilda, which needs to bolster its midfield following the retirement of Robert Harvey, is certain to entertain Harris and could also have interest in Jones, 27, who has played 145 games for 198 goals.

Dont we need more in and under mids?
So far we've got Ball and Hayes, one of which is pernially injured, the other is nearly 30.
Coming up we got Armo, maybe Jonesy...Steven? Goddard even, but could do with another mid aged one.
I'd like Harris, he goes alright.
I don't think so, at least not urgently. Ball, Hayes and Goddard (assuming he'll play there next year like he did the end of this year) is a very good starting combo of inside mids, better than most clubs. Then we have Armo in the wings and Mini, Birss and Baker who can play there whilst tagging plus possibly Jones and Eddy. Compare that to say our stocks of speedy run and carry mids, Montagna... and Gram when he plays there.Dont we need more in and under mids?

So Mini is very fit. If only he was quick!
18 y.o line breaking mid with pace at what ever pick we'd trade for Harris > 27 y.o Harris himself in my opinion.

Eddy and Jones seem to be scrappers who are getting the most out of their talent and bodies, which is admirable and I love watching them but I don't see them getting any better. Armitage on the other hand has the potential to be a top class midfielder. Gram is a star, Baker is among the best taggers in the competition (and every team needs at least one good tagger). Don't rate Birss or Gwilt though. Need to see more of Jack Steven to decide one way or the other. Where is Van Rheenan at? Has Khan Haretaku played at Casey this year or in NSW?
The Age's guide to contradicting yourself :
ST KILDA
WHAT THE CLUB NEEDS: Goal-scoring midfielders and another dedicated forward to ease the heat on Nick Riewoldt. Might look at Daniel Harris or Farren Ray.
Retired/delisted: Robert Harvey (ret), Fraser Gehrig (ret)
Draft picks: 13, 31, 47, 63, 79, 95, 111, 127
Possible trade bait: Justin Koschitzke, Nick Dal Santo, Xavier Clarke, Aaron Fiora
BEST-CASE SCENARIO: The midfield works without Harvey's influence, Luke Ball and Matt McGuire stay injury free and the club's "window" of opportunity stays open.
LIKELY OUTCOME: Gets involved only for draft picks.
RUMOUR FILE: Ex-Eagle Ben Cousins could still land at Moorabbin.
So we need goalkicking mids 'eh? So we should go for Harris (7 goals in 23 games) or Ray (4 in 13) 'eh? But likely we will only "get involved" for draft picks 'eh?![]()
I think Khan had a couple of games with Casey, not sure how he went.
I agree with a lot of that, but have to defend Birssy. Great hands, plenty of courage, I think we should give him more of a go. Doesn't have the pace to make it in the midfield, but I think he'd make a great half forward flanker. Saw him take some great marks in the few games he got to play this year.Eddy and Jones seem to be scrappers who are getting the most out of their talent and bodies, which is admirable and I love watching them but I don't see them getting any better. I've said it before and I'll say it again... midfielders with burst ability to break through congested packs at stoppages and through lines...
we've got players that can win the hard ball but often are too slow at times or get caught once they've got the ball..
I've got the confidence in our backline and forwardline if we can stick to the gameplan and improve. the mids are we're its at.. I hope to see X, Army and Jones continue to improve and kick goals...![]()
