I think another thing that will come into consideration when drafting - perhaps we won't have the option for nominated rookies next year?

Does Stevens fall under the verterans list for 2010?

Could result in all three of Garlett, Jacobs and Joseph being elevated.
Stevens came to Carlton in the 2003 draft with Walker.

Couldn't possibly be a veteran for the Blues.

We should be able to have two nominated rookies next year.

Fevola is the only player I can think of who might be eligible for the veterans list.

Clubs are now allowed to upgrade a rookie in the National draft for one of their mandatory draft picks.

It will be interesting to see how clubs utilise this rule in a weak draft.

I want Luke Tapscott if Talia is gone.

After watching Hurn kick tonight, our players would dine on the delivery of Gibbs, Murphy, Judd, Yarran and Tapscott. :thumbsu:

Agree with you General. Both look fantastic players for the future...

Forget any of these guys and Majak Daw.

This is the player we needed to recruit.

American Pie being tested

Standing 202cm tall, McNamara played this year with a professional German basketball team and the Magpies see him a potential ruckman. Collingwood football boss Geoff Walsh confirmed this morning that the Magpies had flown McNamara out for a trial, but he was still quite green.

“We’re conducting a few physical tests, getting him to handle our footy, seeing how all that goes. He’s not setting the world on fire, but he’s going OK,” Walsh said on radio station SEN. “In the end, we thought, we’ve been in the international recruiting (game) through the Irish players for a while. This boy looked good in terms of his athletic profile, so we thought we’d bring him out.”

McNamara is 24, but Walsh said age was not such a factor with ruckmen.

“If this guy measures up to all the parameters of our game – and at 202cm he’d play in the ruck – well, then age is not such a barrier,” he said,

Damn you Collingwood!

McNamara was our pafloyul special. :(

:o

The opposition ruckman will yell go to make him jump early.

Money well spent if it gets Collingwood's name in the paper...

That sub-editor has been wanting to use that American Pie headline since the seventies.

Poor Winmar ...

:( Waaa I beat up my wife and I'm upset she's left me

Yeah. Poor form. Prone to moments of madness and more than the occasional brain farts was 'ole Nicky.

To his credit he was one of the blokes instrumental in raising the awareness of racial villification and abuse in the AFL.

When he lifted his shirt and pointed out his skin color... was one of the great 'moments' of the game. Knew a guy (st kilda fan + indigenous rights advocate) with that photo (framed) on his wall.

Im pretty sure it was Winmar anyway.

Back on topic...

My draft mantra this year is:

KPF... KPF... KPF...

I dont care if we have to reach (a bit) with our first rounder to find one.

We'll be delisting our three 'forwards' in Cloke/ Wiggins/ Harltett/ Fisher over the next few years and Waite and Fev aint getting younger (and god help us if Fev goes down injured).

KPF... KPF... KPF...

I thought Talia was the 'one', until I saw the Tapscott video. He MUST be on our wish list. Solid body; BOOMING kick; knows where the goals are.

Sounds like Glascott too, which is a good thing!

I have a hypothetical question for Splendini, Cruiser23 and the like...

If Carlton have already picked Talia with our first round pick, would you take another tall with our second round pick?

Would Talia and Panos/Griffiths/Carlisle be a great draft?
Found a profile on Talia when typing in google and found this.:thumbsu:

Position: Key Defender/Forward

Daniel Talia at 195 centimeters is one of the few quality big men in this draft pool, but at 79 kilograms may not be quite big enough to play as a tall at AFL level yet. The good news for the club that takes him is he is quick for his size and possesses good skills so he could easily start as a flanker and as a quarter in the championships showed he isn’t lost on the ball either.

Whilst this draft is widely recognized for its absence of hard tall players; Talia definitely isn't the cause of the problem. As a defender Talia is miserly and attacks the ball with great ferocity, as a forward he provides a good target and when unable to take the mark will at least attempt to bring the ball to ground.

Some people have Talia in their top 10 for this draft but if you were being more realistic a late first round-early second round draft position seems likely for Talia as he hasn’t really dominated many games.

But I like the look of Tapscott as well, would help Judd out with his inside work and ability to kick goals on the half forward line. Heard he has trouble with a tag but with Judd, Murphy, Gibbs and Stevens in that midfield he shouldn't get a really hard tag if we draft him.:)

I'm guessing that's because Griffiths will be going to draft camp and is a KPP in a weak draft...

You'd probably be correct general.

I'm still trying to figure out whether in your avatar Yarran is kissing the emblem or just wiping his face.

I wonder if Splendini or Cuiser could put together a list of talls in order of where they should be rated in terms of the draft (you're opinions are much respected around here).

How are your phantoms coming along?

That's great to see, although you would have to say the kid looks like he is under alot of pressure both in his working environment and his personel environment. He deserve's a fair go, but let's not get into the Yarran argument.

It was a lovely kick, he worked hard during this game and deserved to keep his spot but it's something to build on for next year. Hopefully Judd/Walker/Carazzo take him under their wings and really show him the way fitness wise. He could be something really special once he gets a bit of fitness and strength during the pre-season.

and because he is a f****** gun and will end up being the best KPP in the this draft, possibly the league/world!!!!
