I like both those players, but it is entirely dependant on who is available at the time.

For one of the 3rd rounders, sure.

Do I like them infront of;

Melkshem
Coyler
Bastinac
Stevens
Duncan
Christensen
Tapscott
Shepphard

No I don't.

Thanks Pykie.

If Travis Coyler makes his way to the footy cub, I think i'll be just as happy as I was when BL read out Jack Ziebell's name last year.

Yeah, I like this kid. Really competitive, fast as hell, really good user of the ball. Smallish but hey, when you are quality you don't need to be huge. Magnificent evasive ability at high speed and a really good brain. Seems composed on the ball.

We must get Ben Cunnington and also employ him as part-time goal kicking coach. In the TAC cup and U18 Champs this year he has kicked 26 goals 5 behinds. He can't miss!

There's a new highlights video up on the AFL website and he looks like he would slot into the forward line very nicely next year before working his way into the midfield. He looks like a real natural forward in the Ben Warren mould but with a deadly set shot that doesn't miss. His courage and desperation is amazing.

The Bigfooty one is in 4 days, i'll be writing some profiles on that one.

Unlike others, I just don't have the time to sit down and devote a few thousand words into draft profiles.

If you want a list of players to start with, to have a look at (The AFL has most of the player video's up now on their site);

#5: Cunnington/Butcher/Rohan/Lucas - I'd be extremely suprised if we got someone other than these 4.

#21: Koby Stevens/Jake Melkshem/Travis Coyler/Ryan Bastinac/Troy Taylor/Luke Tapscott/Ben Griffiths/Matthew Panos/Allen Christensen

#25: Ben Griffiths/Matthew Panos/Brad Shepphard/Mitch Duncan/Nat Fyfe/Sam Reid/Jesse Crichton

#37: Sam Reid/Jesse Crichton/Roland Ah Chee

#41: Max Gawn/Josh Thomas/Andrew Hooper

#53: Myles Sewell/Mick Barlow/Joel McDonald/Mitch Thorp

As you can see, we are going to nab some very good players at #21/#25, anyone that slips out of the first round.

Pykie who would go with out of Butcher and Cunnington?

I seriously don't think that Tapscott would slip to 21 but if he did i would i be utterly stunned. How come you dodn't rate Gysberts? I like Taylor and Coyler but I'd have Gysberts ahead of them!

Would you look at getting any KP's in the last couple of picks? Players like Joel Houghton, David Astbury, Sean Tighe or Serhat Temel! You'd have to if we went tall with our first 3 picks!

I Love the look of Thomas, i think he will be a very influential player after a couple of years in the system, he has all the tools and he has shown a bit of class in highlights I've seen.

As much as i love the way Hooper goes about his footy i don't think we can affod to have another really short player on our list. But thats just my Opinion.

Wouldn't mind Winmar with 37 or 41 if he is still available. Nice size, about him and can run a bit. Seems to use the ball well enough too.

I will be curious to see how many WA boys we pick up, seeing that Jon Haine is now on board. I wonder if he will have some input into recruiting? Would love to get any of Lucas, Colyer, Duncan, Winmar or Sheppard.

Sheppard would be an excellent pick at 21. I think he would be in the team by round 5 next year. Very very smart player who knows how to kick the footy. Is a bit more developed than some of his counterparts.

Winmar would be an interesting one. He'd offer so much but he'd have to work on his consistancy before he made in the AFL. I'd rather Nate Fyfe.:thumbsu:

Win/Win. But Cunnington personally.

Tapscott is a little overated on BF imo.

Class player, plenty of potential, but as I said I wouldn't be surprised to see him slip slightly on the day.

Coyler on the other hand, is the complete opposite, he could be snapped up just outside the top 10 imo.

He may be small, but is the complete package. Seriously fast, massive workrate, breaks the lines, fantastic defensive efforts, class skills, clever, can win the inside ball, and can kick goals, and is an exceptional mark for a player his size.

He's the second coming of Boomer, and I don't say that lightly.

He will start off in the forward line at AFL level, but will move into the midfield. I see alot of similarities between he and a young Gary Ablett jnr.

As I said, if we can nab him with a second rounder, i'll be doing cartwheels.

Pykie, what do you think of James Craig? I know he's played ruck through the state comp but with that huge leap, solid body and good agility he'd make a decent key forward. Could he factor in for our pick 25?

after watching some clips of some draftees on the afl site.
my new fav for pick 21 or 25 is Callum Bartlett.

looks like a jet and the kind of outside mid we need. quick and very clean by foot.

I agree. One of Colyer and Bartlett at 21 or 25.
Anyone know much of Gavin Roberts from Norwood? He looks a very likely type. Tall for a mid, good speed and a lovely left foot. Injuries in 09 hampered him apparently.

Ah Chee not too bad either. If we could get him @ 37 or 41 I would be happy.

I think Tapscott will slip to a possible 3rdround selection come draft day and on the other hand i think Colyer will be a 1strounder
how about Fyfe for pick 21 or 25?

iv read Ah Chee cant kick though. BL seems to rate kicking very highly, hence we picked up ziebell, wright and anthony with our first 3 picks last year, all very good by foot.

i expect for him to pick blokes whos best asset is their kicking again this year.

Yep, need to bring in 5+ more good users of it this year.

I'll take your word on Coyler, only really seem glimpses of him and i had him in the 2nd round simply due to his height. Has he been playing seniors this year or colts?

Same here mate was there but That Broome guy deserved it tho. I just belive Tapscott will slip seems to be overated on BF. I think FYfe is the player we need

KB said on SEN today JOHN BUTCHER will go 3 or 4th pick i hope we take him
That would mean Martin would slip. I doubt it but would be good.

My perfect draft would be:

5: Cunnington (assuming Martin @ 3)
21: Colyer (before WC nab him w/ 22 or 23
25: Griffiths
37: Barlett
41: Winmar
53: Sewell

That would add grit, skill and considerable dash to the midfield. Colyer & Barlett are class acts and super fast, Winmar is no slouch but is more of a risk. Sewell deserves a shot and Griffiths would be a bonus at 25, as would Bartlett at 37.

Emma said that Martin would more than likely be on the road to Richmond, so Butcher going at 4 would make Morabito slip down a spot

I would like to ask Pykie on his thought on Morabito? Do you think he is more an athlete then a footballer, and will just fade to a bit player in the AFL not picking up much contested footy and just getting cheap kicks, ala Sam Power. Or do you think he can be an A grade Footballer like Adam Goodes .

<Disclaimer: knowledge based on viewing the various online libraries of TAC, u18 champs etc>

Still don't understand the Cunnington group tug. Yeh, he's hard at it and sounds like he weighs his turds and times his sleep but is it enough?

It's pick friggin 5, is this the sort of bloke who's going to give us the class we need? From what I've watched his disposal and decision making are so-so and his physical edge is going to be blunted against the seasoned bodies of AFL.

Then people start cranking off about Butcher. Please. The last time I heard someone say you've got to take a tall at some point because taking 'best available' would just knock up midfielders was Kevin Sheedy. In 2003. When he took the highly rated Kepler Bradley. That went well.

If Butcher was an elite tall then we'd be talking. But he doesn't look like it so there shouldn't be a decision to be made.

Fwiw, I rate Rohan, Lucas, Tapscott. If one of them fell to us I'd be a happy vegimite idraft 2.0.
