I'd love to get griffiths at 21, i highly doubt Panos will slip that far. Griffiths has an amazing set of hands and he is a very ery good set shot for goal.

There seems to be a about 25 players who are all going to go first round if you believe what people say. Butcher, Black, Carlisle, Griffiths, Panos, Talia - one will be left by pick 21 there are too many decent midfielders in this draft.

Spot on DH, and no doubt we should go with one of these guys at 21, unless there is someone else we really want who is likely to be gone b4 25. Griffiths is the one for me.

Benjamin Griffiths (Eastern Ranges, VIC)
Height: 198cm, Weight: 99kg, DOB: 17/09/91
Recruited from: Blackburn
Outstanding in aerial contests, some recruiters believe Griffiths is a certain top 20 pick, with others believing he could be a back-end second rounder or early third-round choice.
Draft range: 10-35

This is enough for me.

I'm quite confident we'll snag either Griffiths, Panos or Black with pick 21 & get another great prospect with 25. Like someone said already, we'd be very stiff to miss out on all 3 of these with all of the mids being talked up in the draft.

Injuries permitting, I think we'll look back at the 4 drafts between '06 - '09 as the making of our next great team ...

09 - ? ? ? ? ?
08 - Ziebell, Wright, Anthony, O'keefe, Benjamin, White
07 - Tarrant, Greenwood, Thompson, Grima, Garlett
06 - Hansen, Urquart, Goldstein, Thomas, Warren, Ross, Adams, Campbell

it was pretty relevant stuff too

Sorry Rn1 but I agree with these. I guess you were posting last year's results for a comparison once this year's draft occurs, focussing on players' heights.

It was way too much info off topic. Working out the average height of picks taken per team (and number of them over 180cm's or whatever) would've done the trick.

Otherwise this is a discussion about the upcoming draft, not 2008.

North taking extra midfielders last year could show the dire need to take a couple of kpp in this draft. Find it quite interesting how for example Adelaide took a bunch of talls and stated they thought it was a good draft for talls, and Collingwood took all midfielders even though they have no decent talls. Can give an idea as to what other clubs might be looking at this year which may see higher predicted picks fall to North. Still the 700,000,000,000 post. smileyfrownthumb

Gotchya. Your post here summed it up, and was all you needed mate. Fair call. It'll be interesting to see how THIS one goes after last year's followed that trend.

I know that North are very keen on Mark Hutchings from East Perth. Inside midfielder who you'd probably take with your 3rd rounder #37. You can check out some videos of him here:

Looks ok.

Good vision with his hands, seems pretty hard at it, good overhead, kicking technique looked ok but seemed to rush and make some average/rushed decisions by foot.

Good height and build, looks like he knows where to run and has the pace to get there. How old?

Hes 17, currently finishing year 12. I'd imagine he'd be the ideal replacement for Harris, even though he didnt feature much this season. Although i thought Swallow seemed to take over his role pretty well this season and Hutchings would become similar to Swallow IMO.

Good vision with his hands...

Fitness looks an issue but with a solid pre-season...

I think its safe to say that having a pick in the top 5, we are going to get a very good player. Injury and developement being the only query. Who has the most upside and could end up being ELITE. Thats the trick, i think very good is almost in the bag

From a marketing and supporter point of view I really hope we pick up Majak Daw. If he turns into even half a player he'll be worth it.
I think there will be other sides well positioned to take him on as a project type. Its just who wants to take the biggest risk. I'm not sure of his worth, is there any info on him by Emma Quayle, Wisbey etc.....?
