Re: Media Thread

Footy show had a rather smug Mark McVeigh on it last night.

When the time came to pick Essendon vs Freo, Sam Newman came straight out and said "Fremantle will win" . Mc Veigh was taken aback , "Fremantle , on what grounds" he blurted out.
"On Subiaco ground " was the immediate reply.

I don't normally LOL at the footy show , but I did then.

Re: Media Thread

Monty was on SEN recently - reasonably amusing as usual, more so given the podcast was at double speed and everyone sounded like they'd had a fair suck on the helium balloon.

Said that Goose has been terrific around the club (great support to the team), Kosi & Gardi try to sit up the back in team meetings and Ross is continually at them to concentrate, and that Milney gets told to get out of the forward line alot :)eek:).

Re: Media Thread

Red Bull was just on "Before the Game".

Played it straight, but always a couple of good ones :

On Max looking particularly glum kicking the ball in the rooms before the Collingwood game:
BJ "That's Max on a good day"

Sam Lame said that it was a fair (as in fierce) bump on Dale Thomas:
BJ "Yes, it was fair".

On the panel talking about him being rested against the Hawks :
BJ "Yes, I had a slight injury" (and a big smile on his face).

Asked how he found Malcolm Blight at the club :
BJ "That was 10 years ago ... I've only been at the club for 7"
Are you sure?
BJ "Yeah, pretty sure".
We better check our research.
*ad break*
Now are you sure you weren't at the club with Blighty?
BJ "Yeah, I think so".

Had some hilarious footage of Red Bull trying to give Scott Thompson an elbow in the North game, and having an air swing and nearly falling over.
BJ "I was just trying to scare him. Gave him a 'freshey' "

As an aside, they were talking about Leigh Matthews coming to speak with the players and crossed to Malcolm Blight and asked whether he was dirty they didn't ask him to do it - classic TV.

Re: Media Thread

No mention of whether he'd rather be at Carlton....?

Actually no, Wallsy wasn't on you see. However there was a quirk about him stealing the coppers hat to which he replied "too bad I'm not a Collingwood supporter"

And when pressed by Lane on what he took out of the Dogs v Lions games he also had a smirk with "Well it was windy, and the dogs won." which I had a chuckle at. Also had a chuckle when he had Hughesy in all sorts considering the Herald sun posing for Brad Johnson (the one advertising Johnno and Smith of the Storm) talking about manliness and then bringing up BJs own from a while back (streetlamp pic) and Hughesy almost believing that BJ fell into that position.:D

Re: Media Thread

Does anyone watch PTI Australia on ESPN with Sam Kekovich????......It's a sports chat show.

I've been tuning in for a while now and each week it becomes more and more obvious that Kekovich really dislikes St Kilda. In the last 10 weeks even when we were undefeated he nearly always tipped against us or said we were no good. Eventually his Co host questioned him a few weeks ago on why he never has anything nice to say about the Saints after such a season and he just denied anything and tried to move on with the show.

And tonight as I predicted Kekovich said the Dogs would be to strong. He either doesn't want us to win or he doesn't rate us. I favour the former.......

Did he get ironed out by a St Kilda player back in the day or something?...........Why does he have this grudge against the saints??????????

If I saw him down the Street I would probably punch him in the face and tell him how much I love Chicken. Thats what you get for disrespecting the Mighty Saints Keka.

He was also on the Sunday Footy Show for their Great debate and had a similar opinion in regards to the dogs and us, claiming that Dogs are going to run rings around us because they're far too nimble, far too quick and they'll probably treat us like candlesticks. So there is definitely something there for him to be as biased as he is simply because of the sheer arrogance he goes about it when he does.

Re: Media Thread

Bad to see an experienced journo (Bruce Matthews in the Herald Sun) say :

"Robert Eddy ... put in a strong case to retain his place by bagging six goals for the Sandringham reserves last weekend when selectors decided he needed more work to regain touch" Great research

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/a...rt-nick-riewoldt/story-e6frf8w6-1225776281889

Nick's uncle Chris was signed by the Saints after he made an all-Australia schoolboys side, but could not bring himself to leave the close-knit family in Tasmania.

Joe (Nick's dad) became a Saints fan from the time he bought his first pair of football boots in Tasmania.

"They had 'Darrel Baldock boots' written on the side. I asked who he was. When they said he came from Tasmania and played for St Kilda, I said, 'That will do me'."
