Grand Final week - Open Training

The St Kilda Football Club will be holding a final open training session for our fans from 2:00pm on Tuesday September 22 at Linen House Oval.

Limited car parking is available for $5

Entry is absolutely FREE, food and drink outlets will be open and a wide range of St Kilda merchandise will be available.

Interesting they are doing the final open session on Tuesday, i suppose they will train at the G on Thursday, and want to keep things 'low-key' heading into Saturday.

Who's going?

Re: Media Thread

Read an article last week saying that a former St Kilda player (Luke Donald) won a major footy tipping comp with a very substantial cash prize.

Can really remember him fom 1990 (#51). Any recollections?

The stats say he had 24 possessions and a goal in his second game, getting a Brownlow vote.

Kicked 2 goals and had 3 tackles in his next game.

And never played again.

What happened?

Went on to become an Englishman on the European Tour and earn some nice cash.

Re: Media Thread

About the only notable article ever written on the Saints by Mark Robinson, who would prefer to write about his bummers or about Collingwood under instruction from Jon Ralph.

"Poor Clint. For a tough bastard, he was visibly nervous. It was Gazza this, Gazza that, as if he hasn't got enough Gazza on his plate.

Leigh Montagna loves the microphone and it showed. Intensity, pressure, the turnaround from last year, history, Ross Lyon, Robert Harvey, the drought, the economic crisis, global warming, Kanye West . . . Joey offered an opinion.

Asked about his Brownlow chances, Nick Dal Santo quipped: "Jokes first up, are we?"

Re: Media Thread

Are we really going to draft another ruckman in November?
I hope that's speculation, because as it is there'll be stiff competition in 2-3 years.

Hopefully if we do it'll be a rookie list

St Kilda looks to grow from within

Martin Blake | September 30, 2009

ST KILDA is unlikely to be a big player in next week's trade negotiations, having tinkered with its list to the point that it reached a grand final.

Ball, who is out of contract, has a new offer at reduced pay before him. If Ball stays, and the odds are that he will, St Kilda will be close to its salary cap and therefore a bit-part player in trade week.

The summary at the end is pretty much what we all knew.

I was just about to quote that article was okay i thought ( if a little bit marshmallow-y)

But

Noticed a few errors:

Goose.... DOB 30/5/84 makes him 25 not 23

X is 26, Raph is 24.

Crap editing. Factual errors p!ss me off

Re: Media Thread

Geez Krus - that was a shit effort

I also dislike when they do the <insert factual information here> and some douchebag who probably knows nothing about the Saints (or footy) fills it in later.

Re: Media Thread

There was a brief bit about Max amongst the retirees in today's Hun. If you ever needed evidence how underrated he is, look at the achievements listed there.

However I failed to see why Jarryd Allen wasn't included, but Tim Boyle was.

Re: Media Thread

Of the 44 players who contested the grand final, the 30-year-old (Kingy) was easily the first to start looking ahead rather than looking back, by undergoing knee surgery on Tuesday to ensure his pre-season program begins on time. There is a chance the 234-game ruckman — 41 of them for the Saints — may also have to have a shoulder operation before his off-season break concludes.

Cats, Saints to meet just once

* Scott Gullan

The much-anticipated Geelong-St Kilda game will be played on a Friday night at the MCG on the second week of the split round. (Rnd 13) The Herald Sun understands the Dogs meet the Saints early in the season, but are not scheduled to play the Cats until Round 20 at Etihad Stadium.

Meh, doesn't worry me. Bit late for a Grand Final rematch though.
I heard we're playing Sydney first up, again.
The AFL trying to manufacture another rivalry?

Re: Media Thread

So we travel only 4 times? Surely not.

I'd still go it though if we had to travel twice in the last 16 weeks.

Lol you seemed to miscomprehend my post in your first sentence, but understand it completely in your second sentence. :p

Or maybe the 4 was a typo...but then you wouldn't say 'Surely not'.

Intriguing.

Travel 5 times, 3 times in first 6 weeks, 2 times in last 16.

Take that.

Unless the last 2 times were in Rounds 21 and 22.

Hahahha, why the edit IWAGD?

Re: Media Thread

I know. Actually I don't.

This was my original thought: No way we'd get away with travelling only 4 times. With 5 times being the most likely option I'd still do the extreme roadtrip early if it meant not travelling later.

But upon further inspection really 4 trips was never option since I can't count/read. I swear you wrote once though. Eh it's too late.

Does that make any sense?
No school, bad comprehension etc.

Aww I wanna see milney. No fair. I sad.
