There's a small piece on Colm Begley on page 23/24 in a section titled 'Faces to watch' in 'The Age Melbourne magazine' located within the actual newspaper.

I can't find it online to copy here os give a URL but it very loosley covers how his luck ran out last year after his quad injury then getting dropped by the brions. Touches lightly on the draft how he was too nervous to watch til his mates started singing the Saints theme song. Says he's embracing his oppourtunity to extend his AFL career & he is stepping it up to really prove himself.

Squiz, you ain't wrong there. My drummer is Irish and ahh ... drinking & singing go together = so lots of singing.

btw, I might just *yoink* steal that image you posted, it'll come in handy for a laugh.

St Kilda Captain Nick Riewoldt last night underwent arthroscopic surgery after experiencing soreness in his left knee. After careful review, Club doctors made the decision to complete the routine procedure which has an expected recovery period of approximately four weeks.

St Kilda Football Manager Greg Hutchison said, “This week during training Nick was experiencing some discomfort in his left knee, the Club and Nick decided the best option was to operate quickly and ensure he is in peak condition for this year.

“As a result of the arthroscopy Nick will miss the NAB Cup pre-season competition; however he is expected to complete a full recovery program with our strength and conditioning team throughout the next month and be on track for the start of home and away season.”

Even though we probably wouldn't have played him for the first couple of games, having him out of all the praccy matches as well will probably hurt us in testing game plans before the start of the season.

But yeah, you'd rather him do it now than in a few weeks.

So much for the club being so great on the injury front with everyone going grat guns and then "oh X has a niggle, now Rooey has a knee problem" domino effect perhaps?

All I can say is yeah, thank god it happened now and not later.

Lost 300 grand fighting Kingston Council who were trying to screw us.

Playing finals actually cost us money due to the structure of player contracts.

Extra $1m to footy department included Fiora's payout.

Not sure why we were so under budget with match day functions.

Jeld-Wen contract is back-ended.

Rushed behind rule is stupid. It really wasn't broken before.
Can adversely affect the Saints because it will tend to favour teams with strong forward lines. ( The defense of all teams will effectively be weakened ).

Don't remember our guys conceding too many rushed behinds, so maybe we will cope OK.

Can see some real bloopers with the rule, as if it is rushed between the goal and point posts the free kick is taken from the boundary line. Setting the mark from there will be interesting, and no doubt the umpires will overdo the theatrics.

At least they got rid of that stupid rule where the ball bounces back into play off the post - what a piece of crap.
