And is it just me or are the Wiz looking pretty foolish today; they could have had a Rubio/Arenas guard combo instead of Foye/Arenas guar (no D) combo, with not much difference to the rest of the team.

Hindsight helps, but really just looks like a shocking move from Washington.

Phoenix deal could heat up again around July8 apparently

From a Suns point of view, I really want this trade to happen. We're not gonna contend next season, so we might as well trade Stoudemire now. Probably Nash too.

Start with:
Curry
J-Rich
Clark
Wright
Biedrins

I'd be happy with that platform for the future.

Ric Bucher and Kenny Smith on twitter have just both said they think it will happen.

They want to win now, and prefer a vet combo.

IMO for at least the next 2 years, Foye + Miller > Rondo.

Completely agree, but I absoloutely forgot Rubio was 18. In 5 years, this deal looks dumb IMO but right now you'd definitely go for the former, so I cant blame the Wizards they need to win now for many reasons, validating a high payroll, marketing, ticket sales, etc.

Where as the Wolves get to pimp their amazing youth. We don't know if Ricky will be 100% in the NBA next season though from what I've read, so we'll wait for that too.

For where the Wiz are now, perhaps.

But with the pieces in this trade long term it is who does more the Wolves - Foye or Rubio.

San Antonio picked up a 6-7 PF Tweaner with a large wingspan in DeJuan Bliar, who had 2 ACL operations in highschool, but a beast on the glass. I don’t know about this guy but everyone says it’s a steal.

Jack McClinton at 51, described as ‘Eddie House with a defensive edge’ and some French dude called Nando.

Not bad for 3 second round picks.. A+

Edit.. just to say I look forward to the Ricky Rubio era also

This reminds me of a trade in about 2001 when Boston got Rodney Rogers and Tony Delk (two quality vets) from Phoenix and gave up Joe Johnson, who was only a talented young player at the time.

They have been creamed since, but for what they wanted to accomplish, those 2 vets probably helped more that Johnson would have.

Rubio is far less advanced than JJ was at the time of that trade, and might not even play for a while. As DoubleA said, their needs are immediate and it is the right trade even if Rubio is blitzing in 5 years time.

great pick ups by the spurs iam so excited for next year:thumbsu:

I only agree with the above if the team acquiring said vets has a legit chance at a championship.

Neither the 2001 Celtics nor the 2009 Wizards were/are legit contenders - thus both trades were fails.

On an unrelated note, Tony Delk and Rodney Rogers were excellent value in NBA Live.

It get's them closer. And who's to say they arent building up contracts to flip for a beast?

Seeing as though Ill give the Mavs 10-15 years to judge the Kidd trade, only fair I give the Wiz till the Feb trade deadline at least

Rogers and Brent Barry would own me.

On an uneven more unrelated note that 2002 (not 2001) Celts team that lost 4-2 in the Eastern finals would have been the worst Finals team that I can recall

Battie (6ppg/6rpg) / Potapenko (5ppg/5rpg)
Walker (22ppg/8rpg/39%FG/8 3pts attempted per game)
Eric Williams (7ppg/3rpg/37%FG) / Rodney Rogers (10ppg/3rpg)
Paul Pierce (25ppg) / Erick Strickland (7ppg/39%FG)
Kenny Anderson (9ppg/5apg) / Tony Delk (6ppg/35%FG)

Before the Wiz trade, Minnesota looked at moving Miller to the Clips for Kaman. Clips said no, but countered with Camby. Surely the Wiz can get it done. Camby will provide more value than the artist formerly known as Mike Miller.

really happy with denver trading for Ty Lawson
should be a great pickup and a good backup for chauncey

Dude Pierce and 'Toine were awesome then. Hell even Kenny got it done in those finals. Ah shit I'm too drunk to go into detail, but Pierce alone was enough to say that wasn't the worst finals team of all time, he was shooting 3's at like 40%+, and Toine was shooting 4's like they was nobodies business.
