This may sound like a stupid question but how exactly are people making value/score predictions? Im not exactly sure how its worked out that someone like Rich's value equates to a score of 28?

a players price for this year is based on there average from last year.

So turning that formula around, you can derive a first year players "average from last year" by using their salary. :)

I am not sure if this has been asked yet, I didnt really want to search through 14 pages, but what are our opionions of Patrick Dangerfield? He has big wraps and is said to be a star of the future, will he get game time this year do you think? enough game time to put on your bench as a cash cow?

He'll play and make you money - just may not be from the start of the season. The Crows tend to run young guys off the bench in 10minute bursts which limits their scoring, so other sides tend to produce better cash cows. I would expect a similar output to David Mackay last year despite being different types of players.

There has been heaps of hype about colin slyvia and brennan got a qaud injury in last practice match (not sure how serious).
ROK is easily the most consistent but doesnt often crack the 100.

I have drummond, houlihan, raines and hill which is risky so looking to swap probably houlihan or raines as i think drummond if fit will easily outscore these two.
What are peoples thoughts on
For houlihan For Raines
Gilbert-222K Goldsack-188k
Morris-250k Grimes-186k
Ryder-214k Rivers-189k
o'brien-243k Hurn-197k

Initial pricing is a the players average last year * Magic Number (this year 4438).

E.g. Joel Corey averaged 109.3 last year. 109.3*4438=485,073 and his opening price is $485,100. Since the rookies didn't have averages last year, Virtual Sports (people that run the game) give them a price. Rich is $126,600 which means he is priced based on an average of 28.52.

Does anyone know of a link or list of the most durable players over the past few seasons. Have done a lot of searching, but haven't been able to find this.

Just a list of players & how many games they have played over the past 5 or so seasons would be great. Can't seem to find this info anywhere on the AFL website or here or other DT sites.

Sorry for not starting a new thread, but I'm new to this forum & are unable to create my own threads yet.

Thanks in advance for your help.

We are not going to hand you research.
Gotta go look for it yourself, Fanfooty will show you histories for players.
I suggest you start there and do the rest yourself.

What do people think of Daniel Jackson, is priced at $318,300 average of 71. Has had 5 seasons in the system and has shown potential to score big numbers if he gets a regular game. He averaged 87 in the last 6 games of 08.

Wallace has stated that Jackson is in our best 18 and has been a standout on the track. His scores in the NAB seem to reflect the hard work he's put in, coupled with the fact that KJ has hurt his knee again and cotchin is not ready he'd be a good option at that price. He's not a glamourous player by any means as he often plays a tagging role and is uglier than a hat full of arseholes but he gets the job done. I don't feel you'd lose money on him by any means, there's only upside and it would be a small cash upgrade to get a fallen premium. At the end of last season everyones numbers improved because we started winning so if you feel we might win a few more games you should consider him. One other thing is the tigers are over using the ball as stated in the freako newsletter which means more points for the mids. :thumbsu:

Goldsack is not in the Pies best 22, my opinion.

In light of the fact that Medhurst has barely had a pre-season who do you think is the best pick of the following to replace him...

R. Murphy $395,100
B. Johnson $386,000
R. O'Keefe $381,400
Q. Lynch $375,300
D. Petrie $374,300
J. Brennan $373,700
C. Sylvia $367,000
have you considered matty stokes. averaged 88 last year and has had a super nab cup. also has said he wants to have a huge year and put the grand final of last year shocker behind him. im predicting him to average 95 this season and finish top 6 or 7 forwards.

Bump

Haha, fair enough, he's really not cheap enough for anything useful. Already have Graham.

Another one then. What about Travis Johnstone from Brisbane?

Priced at 370k in the mids, there are many around his price (Gibbs, Judd, Knights, Boak etc.) that people are talking about. He averaged 83.4 last year, and a 42 and a 35 were the week before he missed a game or two (possibly injured? Not sure) and another 47 was from a Sydney game.

Two years ago he averaged 92.1 so he has the potential. Also, with Brisbane being the lowest scoring side last year and new coach Voss, their scores should go up across the board right? He scored a 96 in round 1 NAB cup.

Anyway, I admit I'm certainly no expert so would love to hear thoughts from people who know more.

what about bowden well he have a big dreamteam year beacuse i think he has a new role in the forward line

I doubt it. If your looking in that price range then you should see improvement in Minson and he should average 60+. I'm not sure on the other rucks around that price tag

hey guys this is going bak a bit, but what are people's thoughts on colin sylvia and daniel jackson. i was reading my friends propectus guide and the book said players normally peak ( if they havent already) around their sixth season.

Slyvia- firs into this category and was taken high in the draft, looks ready to peak. woth this risk?? anyone got ideas

Jackson is another one who looks ready to step up. finished last year well, solid Pre season. any thoughts as wel???/

Looking into him. Was very good in the 2nd week of the NAB, all class. It wouldn't surprise me for a second to see him average 95, would be a very unique pick. Personally, I just can't see it happening if he remains inside the FWD 50. Would need to roam up a little more/ have some stints in the midfield, something I don't see happening with Geelongs on-ball brigade. I still like him though.

Sylvia has had a great pre-season. BOG in one of the NAB games. In the best on a number of occassions in the intra-club games. Has all the attributes to become a premium.

Jackson has looked great in the tigers midfield during the pre-season. But how will he fair once Richmond's full midifield rotation is brought back in? Will certainly reduce his TOG, and may affect his role - seemed to have been roaming around finding his own footy during the NAB, whereas last season he was used as a tagger.

Gilbee has actually had a big pre-season this year (first time since 05 and 06 where he averaged 81 & 83). So you would expect that he'd at least average somewhere in the 80's.

Not sure if it's the shaved head, but he appears to have added a bit of bulk as well.

Wouldn't be surprised if he spent more time further up the wings than previous years.. Will still cop attention most weeks but I wouldn't put a 5-6 point increase in average past him.

lol cuzz is back

ive seen u ask SOOOO many questions about players...

not to be rude but you really should do some independent research!

relying on other people isnt the way to go

apparently stokes is gana have stints in the midfield this year probably only 10 minute bursts but enough to get some quick points. and he wont get the oppositions best small defender when inside forward 50 that will most likely go to stevie j and chapman. should get his 18-20 possies and 2 goals a week to get him 90 a game and even more on good weeks.

dan jackson is an interesting one. he got 30 touches in our nab games and certainly has the ability to find the footy.but when the season starts will most likely go back to his shutdown roll. which i dont agree with coz he could become another high possesion mid. hopefully he can add an offensive style to his tagging role and get the footy as well as tagging so becoming like kane cornes. should play 22. if he tags for the season should average 75. if he roams and plays mid half back could average 85+. but should become a pretty handy dter at 318k
