Agreed Daz, Krak is in the Drummond / Chappy mould as far as injuries go. Huge risk IMO especially given the low end value in the forwards with Skippy / Higgins / Lucas and co.

BTW, Higgins chopped it up again yesterday at Rouse Hill. Heaps of the pill and played in the midfield.
I think my team will have all of these 3

p burgoyne and krakoeur both played yesterday and krak racked it up
I think PB playing in the middle yesterday may have had something to do with Boak & Casissi both missing and S.Burgoyne playing his first game for the pre season. Surely, come the season proper those 3 would be straight back into Ports best midfield along with Salopek, the Cornes brothers, Pearce & Rodan thats already 8 midfielder options without PB getting a run. Tipping come round 1 normal sevice will be resumed and Krak will end up being a fringe player while PB resumes his HBF/sweeper role.

Choco's come out in the media and said he hopes to play Krakouer at HBF this year. Can't be bothered finding a link, but it did happen.
There is a difference between a coach saying he hopes to do something and the coach saying he will be doing something. Wallace has said that he hopes that Graham will be our number 2 ruckman for the majority of the year. However, if Graham doesn't perform then he'll be gone. The way I read Choco's comment is if he gets a chance he might give the kid a crack there.

Given that Choco is in the last year of his contract, like Wallace, I don't think he'll be wanting to experiment too much early on and will be looking to get off to a solid start and if things go pear shaped, then he might start giving kids a chance.

He actually said one of Salopek / Krak / or MMotlop, 2 of whom are fringe players. I know who my monies on.

Even if he gets a game he still has to stay fit which is the biggest question mark IMO.

Obviously if this is the case then Salopek gets the gig. But if it came down to a decision on the other two surely Krak is way ahead - he has been in the system for a year longer and has done some really good things in the pre season. Personally I like the look of Krak at 180K as a forward.

how do people rate Dalziell? is he worth the $420 k price tag? would it be safer to go with say a selwood and use that extra cash somewhere else?

i personally have picked dalziell as i see him scoring close to a dane swan this year.

You will find that most people on here think that its a big risk in that his price is based on a very good 7 game career and we dont really know if he can keep up the pace or it was just an extraordinary start to his career

yeah he's price is rather large..

how do people compare ...

bartel, abblet, thompson and swan...

make the comparison based on value for money..

i have gone with swan as i feel that he is a semi bargin at 450k.. does bartel and abblet really deserve the extra 50k?

I think they do

Keep in mind that at the end of last year when Peter Burgoyne was struggling that Marlon Motlop played that HBF sweeper role while Krak couldn't even get a game, going from that I think Motlop is in front at this stage

Thoughts on Pavlich?

Not sure if he's a lock for me anymore, not based on pre season, just based on fremantle being.... not that good ;)

Yeah thats true, but I haven't seen alot of Marlon yet far this season. Where does he stand in terms of fitness/chance to slot into the team?

ive got richo at the moment but pavs pre season form is worrying
2 absolute shockers

role uncertain

Cameron Bruce anyone?

I'm looking to pick a more unique mid for the top end, and think he could be my man. He's had one of his best pre-seasons without any injury interuptions. Melbourne have a good defence being built, so he wont be required to do any jobs down there like he was in patches last year. He'll play midfield and rest forward. He picks up a stack of loose marks+kicks on the wings.

What does everyone think he will produce this year?

Had hammy issues 2 years ago and played 17 that year, but played 22 last year and 3 years ago. He's had an injury free preseason, and I'd expect him to play 22 again this year. Last 3 years averaged 97, 97, 102. I'd say he'll meet his 97 average of the last 2 years, but do people think he can get back over 100 again? It'd be nice to have a high scoring unique pick.

if you have the cash then pav easily. Dont think boomer will score well this year.

We thought that about Harvey last year, it must come true eventually.

Pav vs Didak for me. Argh.

I've gone for the running midfield types in the forwards to see how the rolling zone plays out on the scores of the key forwards. They'll drop in price anyway because of the decreasing MN and the other guys were certainties for me anyway.

I won't take Richo and i'm a fan, he's the oldest player in the comp now and IF the tigers look like making the finals he's going to get rested before the end of the season. There are younger players in his price range more likely to go the distance.

How about Brad Green? He has the ability to get some high scores, i remember last season he got about 161. I picked him up midway though the season because he was cheap but also because something like only 2000 people had him in their teams. Very unique pick last season and i dont think much will change this season
