2009 Player Discussion - Part 2

How do people see Haselby's scoring potential compared to Otten.

Thinking of downgrading Hasleby to Otten (I have Rich, Robinson, Beams from the start) so I can get Houlihan in the backline for Hill.

Trades are gold and should be treated that way.

If I selected Hasleby, it would be as a mid priced player that you're basically looking to increase his average by around 20-25ppg on his pricing point. This should then allow you to trade to a dropping premium for around 1:1 - 1.5:1.

Considering Hasleby is currently locked in his teams best 22 and is averaging over his pricing point, there is no need to make this trade.

You already have Rich, Robinson and Beams to use as cash cows.

It is a long season, don't spend all your trades early.

Hi all - not sure if this is the right thread.

but looks like S Hill will be keeping his spot for a while yet.

Tuned in late to a discussion on 6pr last night - and it sounded like Harvey had been interviewed and made a statement that he will keep picking him.

obviously 17 points isn't great - but it can only be up from here - and with the carnage in some people's backlines - 17 is still better than a donut

Harvey looks set to stick with youngsters Stephen Hill and Nick Suban for the Crows' visit this weekend, although there are likely to be changes to the team.

NICE!

hey guys

Can someone "in the know" tell me what average Kerr is priced at? He's averaging 68.5 atm so bit concerned about him dropping

cheers

Break even is 114, expected drop -16,100, next week -2,100 and the week after -11,200. Get ffgenie 2009.3 up and running you really will need it.

Any Hawks supporters got any extra info on Tuck? I know he is listed as a test, and this is a concern, so just wondering if anyone knows anything more.

Thoughts on Lockyer?
Can he keep up his form?

My backline is rather solid but If I can get in a top 5 backman at the price of 360K I might as well do it now IMO.

Thoughts? :)

I heard a Pies supporter saying that he was always going to score well in the two games he has played. I think an 85 average could be on the cards though - who are you looking to trade out?

Is it a must to have Robbo?

At the moment I have Butler and Anthony not playing. I am willign to wait on Butler but I think i need to trade Anthony out.

Considering waiting a week and assessing the Beams situation, or going a straight swap to Robbo this week.

At the moment in the mids my only cash cows are Rich and Otten so I definitely need another.

Also would be nice to have an emergency in the mids this week, considering it is a Thursday lockout.

Im not getting Robbo. I still dont believe that his spot in the side is safe. I think Beams or Zaha will be a safer bet - probably better scorers too.

Yeah that is my thinking.

My Midfield is - Ablett, Kornes, Gibbs, Reilly, Rich, Otten (Butler, Anthony)

So I definitely need another cash cow. At the moment I also don't have an emergency.

Few options I can take.

Will have to weigh them all up between now and tomorrows lockout, but I definitely need another cow with Reilly and Butler not working out to plan and Anthony injured.

Going to be a nightmare, no hair left by tomorrow ;)

looks fine to me. the only worry would be Butler, but i would only downgrade Butler to Robinson/Beams/Zaharakis if the extra 130k allowed for a significant upgrade elsewhere.

ahh, and you asked me about my Coughlan strategy last week
well this is how my midfield went in rd2:
152 Gibbs
130 Swan
113 Kornes
91 Rich
75 Hasleby
94 Beams
0 Coughlan (41pos, 10tackles in VFL practise match)
0 Anthonty

Beams saves the day...Coughlan return imminent...fortune favors the brave...c'mon Dragons, breath some fire. :D

I also think Reilly is a problem. 20 possesions for a return of 59 is terrible. I'm not even sure if he had any marks..

Although Reilly and Butler are pissing me off, I think I will hold on to the and trust why I picked them.

The 130K(from Butler) or 200K (Reilly) Of course will allow me a straight swap when Skippy or Krakouer max out, but my thinking is that Reilly and Butler can still easily rise to over 300K. It may take them another 5 weeks but I think there best footy for 09 is in front of them. i can see Butler coming back into the side within the next 2 weeks.

I'm Considering Anthony ---> Robbo/Beams/Zaha. I'm stumped as of which is the best option. Especially as at the moment I have no emergency option and it is a Thurs lockout...

Lol yes I was desperately hoping Beams wouldn't get a game this week. Would have allowed me to gain 94 points on quite a few coaches, but alas.

With Couglan, I think you would have been better off going with Otten. I mean he is scoring very well and is set to rise in price a fair amount. Could still be a few weeks till Coughs gets a game.

Either way, it is brave sticking with him and it could very well pay off. If so, you'd be laughing.

41 possies and 10 tackles, that is freakish lol.

nah, i don't recommend it. it's too much of a sideways trade. i would only do a move like that if i were facing definite zeroes (and knowing my style, a fair few zeroes... i'm always prepared to swallow a donut or two :D).

but if you want my opinion on those 3 i rate Beams over the others.

Swanny & Beams... i've got em' both

...Um, ok, where the hell is Daniel Currie. Next week I might find myself doing a sideways trade if he isn't going to get a game. He isn't even listed as an emergency, Mike Pyke is ahead of him.

Think this a question a few coaches may be asking this week.

I have Beams, Rich, and Robbo all in the mids so who should get the single remaining spot in the mids?

Initially I thought Rich - has looked good and been fairly consistent over his two games - also playing a MF role whereas I feel Robbo playing that defensive pressure forward type game is always open to a low score.

But now I'm thinking Beams - a) he has definatley been named; and b) Rich is up against the Swannies this week who have slaughtered my squad that have played against them so far.

So all things equal at this stage I am thinking:

Beams - Rich (E) - Robbo

Beams is also playing against the Cats, might not see as much of the ball as he did last week against Melbourne. I'd probably go Rich.

I'm wondering if Kreuzer will be able to maintain an average of 80+ this year. Seems to look like getting 20+ hitouts a game, with a few goals every now and then he could be a decent second ruck. Thoughts?
