Paul Hudson:Spent a bit of time in the reserves. He is a class player. He has great decision making and awareness. We would like to see him kick more goals. He needs to take more marks in the forward line but that's probably a confidence thing.

I thought the Comments about Steele was Intresting as they want him to Kick more Goals and Take more Marks.

Are they going to use him as a Forward and not in the Guts next season?

They obviously want him to become a goal kicking mid, it is a potent string to have on your bow as a midfielder.
Murphy showed this year the importance of a pure mid that can kick goals, I'm sure they'll eventually want to develop Steele in the same way. I can't really see him playing as a permanent or majority of time as a forward, although his TAC cup performance has obviously given them the impression he can be someone who averages a goal or so a game.

The ability to kick goals is what makes someone like Didak or Davis far more dangerous to an opponent than say Daniel Cross.

I think Murphy kicked so many goals because he gambled and ran ahead of the play a fair bit. It'll either result in Murphy getting a good scoring opportunity or Carlton getting outnumbered if the ball goes the other way.

You'd have to be confident in your team mates to win the ball to play like that. Fair play to Murphy as well, it worked well for him.

I tend to agree with Smiddaz on the Murphy issue. It worked well for him but it is a risky move and requires a really good ball winning midfield. It can also becomes an issue if the player opposed to Murphy is damaging as you risk being hurt just as much the other way.

Also probably nitpicking but whilst Didak and Davis are more dangerous in a scoreboard sense a guy like Cross is more valuable in the overall team sense. I get what your saying in that having mids who can kick goals really adds to the team, takes pressure off your fowards etc. Probably just a bad comparison.

He has a reputation and has shown in his U/18 days that he is an accurate kick for goal and if he can get his hands on the ball foward of the center and hurt teams on the scoreboard that will be more then handy. I doubt it's anything more then that though.
