Pressure? I wouldn't want Judd or Ablett kicking after the siren to win the match.
He stays no.1 because he has been the best player all season. He has dragged St Kilda across the line numerous times. The knee jerk reactions to shots after the sirens is ridiculous sometimes. Judd was average today and Ablett was average last week. There are 120mins of pressure in football, forwards have more clutch moments so it's stupid to mark it against Riewoldt.

riewoldt dosent stay at number 1 because hes not at number 1.

i would feel comfortable with both judd or ablett having a shot from 35 metres out to win the game.the commentators made the point that he had a look on his face like oh no i dont want this, which is a disgrace from a club captain .

has not had a big influence in 1 final series yet his sides played in 3 finals series.that miss was absolutley terrible, he buckled under pressure

You're just talking shit now. This is a top 50 players for this season. Form line for this season. I couldn't give a stuff about past finals form. If Riewoldt had kicked it would you still have him no.1? Seems a bit stupid that a ball travelling 3 metres to the right costs him his no.1 spot.

Great read AG - really enjoyed it and I think your assessments are fair.

Shaw and Maxwell have had great years also. How close do you think they are to top 50?

Maxwell closer than Shaw. I haven't rated Shaw as highly as most. I think Lockyer has been better this year.

Lockyer has been quietly going about his business all season long, consistency is his key.

Shaw was poor early on, but imo has been a top 20 player over the past 1-2 months. I've had him just behind Swan as our second best player. Marginally ahead of Didak.

WOW!! thats an interesting observation AG. I think you may be overrating Lockyer a little bit... actually massively! does some nice things along the wing, but come on... he is half the player heath shaw is!

PS. your list is very good tho

I think Lockyer has been underrated for years, so I will always try and talk him up. Good footballer and would be a great person to have around any team. Not sold on Shaw but he has found his best form at times this season which is a good sign after the incident last year. Both Shaws have had fairly good seasons.

Lockyer adds some reliability and professionalism to the line up, but Shaw at his best is something else entirely.

His offensive game gets talked up, that's where the bulk of his reputation comes from. While that's a very good aspect of his game, his defensive efforts are the stand out aspect of his game. I have him as possibly the best non KP player when it comes to aerial contests. Uses his body perfectly and so smartly. When Shaw's at his best, I wouldn't swap him for another back flanker. Pounds for pound one of the best one on one players in the AFL imo.

I know I'll be dismissed as bias, because I'm a Collingwood fan. But if you ask most of the posters on the Collingwood board, they'll probably tell you I'm not that well liked because I'm pretty harsh on a lot of our players....I don't generally talk up players hugely unless I really think it's warranted.

How is Tayte Pears tracking? As a Dons supporter I think he's been an absolute standout for us and he's kept Brown and Reiwoldt very quiet in the last two rounds. Crazy to think that the senior member of our backline was Henry Slattery who's 23 and has played 70 games tonight.

Pears has been very impressive for such a young KP defender but he's behind a few other key defenders so he's not really in contention for a top 50 place.

The movements for each player aren't always a reflection of the players form. Sandilands wasn't bad but Fev and Didak were much better, so he has to go down 2 spots. Murphy should have gone up a lot based on today but I don't think he has had a better season than all the players above him. Chapman missed again, so now I would rate Goddard having a better season than him even if he wasn't dominate today.

Chappy a bit lucky not to drop further? I guess Davis wasn't amazing and neither was Goodes. Expect him to drop rapidly if he's still out or his the other 16 games were good enough to keep him there?

Maybe, he has missed quite a few games. He could probably drop to 15th because Murphy, Goodes and Davis were all very good.

How can patrick Ryder not be in the top 50? He is clearly one of the premier ruckman in the game! I think there are a lot of players in this top fifty for namesake not on form!!! Tarrant should easily be in there has not had one bag kicked on him yet this year!

Ryder?? I don't need 5 ruckmen in the top 50. I should have Ryder in the unucky list though. I don't think I have many players in here just because they are big names. Franklin is the only one who might be but he is 3rd in the Coleman. Tarrant is having a good season but he has had bags kicked on him. Anthony kicked 4 on him in R14, Fevola kicked 3 on him in R15, Tippett kicked 5 on him in R16. There have probably been one or two more others.

i like the list, i just dont think based on form that Porplyzia should be there, 42 goals i know, but lately :S, maybe i just had to say something cause im a yid, who knows

Good work AG, damn hard thing to do.

From a Collingwood POV, Davis, Presti, probably too high. Didak too low imo. I know he's missed a fair few games but has had so many BOG's to make up for it. I guess it comes down to how you judge it. Shaw and O'Brien must be very, very close.

Fantastic work again AG, have certainly established yourself as the no.1 unbiased player analysis/ ranker on BF.

Imo, Didak a bit too low, Mitchell a tad high, Goodes should be top 10, and Hurn and Jackson very very stiff.

I also think everyone is overrating Presti a bit. He's been great at his role but his game is just so one-dimensional I would prefer him in the 40-45 range. Just my thoughts though, a very credible and well-thought out list.
