2009 Trade Discussion - Part 3

Goodwin's not a bad more unique choice. Can rack them up bit is a little bit risky though. I wouldn't feel confident bringing him in for some reason but that's only my opinion.

I've held off trading, but this week my hands are tied.

Having lost David Hille last week and with Sam Jacobs uselessly injured, unless Jake Spencer gets a surprise call up, I will have to pass on what seem like the two best cows since pre-season.

So who would you pass up, Hartlett or Warren?

Would be downgrading Mackay to Hartlett, Skipworth to Warren

ye hes playing a bit like sweeper atm for the crows and should definetly be the go to guy for getting out of the backline because of his long kicking

Hey Guys,

Just wondering on peoples thoughts of trading Sam Jacobs ($127,200) to Shane Mumford ($115,400). Jacobs is currently on my bench but is now out for 6 weeks so a trade to Mumford will make me some cash. How long will Mumford stay in the team for? Will he keep his spot when Ottens has returned from injury.

It is a bit of a sideways trade but potential for Mumford to increase is good.

Thoughts would be appreciated.

Hey all,

I have a trading question.

My team is:

Backs: Chornes, Goddard, Fisher, Houlihan, Drummond, Petrenko, Cheney (Emerg: Raines & Broughton)

Mids: Ablett, Swan, Kornes, Gibbs, Haselby, Rich (Emerg: Beams & Anthony)

Rucks: Cox & McIntosh (Emerg: Jacobs & Spencer)

Fwds: Deledio, Pavlich, Gia, Higgins, Ziebell, Krakouer and Walker (Emerg: Skippy & M. Brown)

I am going to do 2 trades this week but not sure which one's.

Thinking ...... Walker --> Warren & want Hartlett in but not entirely sure who to trade out. Thinking either Beams (has he peaked), Rich or haselby? Is it also worth upgrading Anthony to Hartlett?

This is assuming that I am not playing another 0 due to raines, cheney and broughton all out.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Id prolly leave ur side alone as far forwards and middies go at this stage and prolly look at a backman for petrenko cause he mite gtet dropped and u mite be 2 short this week.
Maybe greenwood for petrenko or cheney

what about haselby to hartlett

hasleby struggled with the tag last week and now palmer out will be targetted even more

otherwise have rich beams and zaha who havnt peaked yet

also trying to weigh up who i trade hille for, sandi, h-mac or kruezer

hasleby scored almost all of his points in the 2nd half. Hase is onot going to go up in price any time soon due to two dud scores so if you must get rid of someone in your midfield, make it Haze, but I have every confidence he will average 75+ for the rest of the year. Personally I plan to trade him out in round 12-14 when Ablett or Swan or some other premium dips a bit.

Some help required here guys.

I currently have 186,200 in the bank with a fairly average side (I guess I didn't see this part of the site till too late - looking forward to next season already:D)

Team is..

CCornes-Goddard-Houlihan-Adcock-Malceski-Hill-Suban-Petrenko-Raines

Ablett-Gibbs-Selwood-Higgins-Rich-Beams-Bird-L Anthony

Sandilands-Ottens-Mussen-Jacobs

S Johnson-Pav-Franklin-Harvey-Ziebell-J Anthony-M Brown-Skipworth-Gartlett

My thoughts this week are to either do two downgrade trades

Craig Bird -> HH
Skipworth -> Ben Warren

and then have 465, 500 in the bank to start upgrading the likes of Malceski, Rich, J Anthony and co in the coming weeks

or should I be looking to get upgrades in for Harvey and Malceski straight away? 15 trades left atm so probably used too many already but picked pretty badly at the beginning.

Any help from the experts will be appreciated :thumbsu:

I can't decide exactly what to do at the moment.

I have Masten and Skipworth both sitting on my bench and I intend to get rid of both of them.

My options are:

1) Downgrade Skipworth to Warren, upgrade Masten to Swan, $81,100 spare

With this option, I would be playing 2 of Hill, Petrenko and Broughton (1 when Birchall returns), 2 of Rich, Beams, Otten and Robinson, and 2 of Warren, Ziebell, Mitch Brown and Walker

2) Downgrade Masten to Hartlett, upgrade Skipworth to Riewoldt, $54,200 spare

With this option I would be playing 2 of Hill, Petrenko and Broughton (1 when Birchall returns), 3 of Rich, Beams, Otten, Hartlett and Robinson, and 2 of Ziebell, Mitch Brown and Walker

3) Downgrade Skipworth to Warren, upgrade Petrenko to Lockyer ($9,300 spare), Hodge ($41,600), Mackie ($63,600) or Enright ($48,400)

With this option I would be playing 1 of Hill and Broughton (0 when Birchall returns), 3 of Masten, Rich, Beams, Otten and Robinson, and 2 of Warren, Ziebell, Mitch Brown and Walker

4) Downgrade Masten to Hartlett, Downgrade Skipworth to Warren.

With this option I would have $393,100 spare to use as I please. I would obviously use it to upgrade my rookies and cash cows to premiums as they fall. I am aware that it is a hell of a lot of cash to keep spare but it will increase my flexibility with regards to trades. This option would see me stay with Birchall, Masten and Skipworth on the bench, hoping they return and, in the case of Masten and Skipworth, rise in price.

All 4 of the above are viable options I think, and I'm almost certain that I will be going with 1 of them. I'm just not sure which one at the moment.

Some thoughts and comments would be greatly appreciated.

I would go option 2 personally. Hartlett is a much better prospect than Warren, more likely to keep his spot too. Roo looks in for a big year too. :thumbsu:

Hey do you guys think that Joel Corey is a good pickup? He has been a bit down on last year so far, thus he is quite cheap atm. Do you guys think he has just had a slow start and will get back up to avg 100+ or do you think I should just steer clear of him.

Also how many games do you guys think Warren will play? The injuries to a couple of NM players will help him but I havnt really seen much of him.

Thanks.

Imo pick him up when the geelong defence is set and ready to go. otherwise he will always be an option to play a defender role. wait for harley and mackie and scarlett and enright all to settle down properly. by then corey will have dropped in price and then be sent back to his usual possy.

Pav + 50k vs Volt?
50k is quite alot really in the scheme of things.

I'd go Pav, he will sure get better from now on in and more reliable with injuries than the Voldt.

I want to trade out skippy, should I..

a) Skipworth to another player around the same price (I have a spare 20k) Riewoldt or Hawkins

b) Downgrade haselby to hartlett and Upgrade skippy to Franklin, Gia or any other premium on the slide.

I would definitely go option B. Hawkins and Riewoldt are inconsistent.

Option b ;)
You don't want J.Volt/Hawkins

Definatly going Walker --> Warren this week (as long as Warren is named)
Not sure which way to go with the other trade. Can either be

1. Hille --> Kruze/H-Mac
Will mean i keep Skipworth on bench and play M.Brown.

2. Skipworth --> Buddy
Will mean Meesen will cover Hille for this week (but against Geelong), and also get another week to look at Kreuz/H-Mac as i have no clue which one to get right now.

I really dont know which way to go. Does anyone have any ideas?
Cheers

I'm looking at doing Skipworth to rookie and Walker/Brown to premium. I don't need to do this at this moment so I will probably get rid of skipworth and then upgrade walker/brown next week after their prices rise a bit more...

Sounds good in theory anyway. Just hope it doesn't cost me too many points.

I have a bit of a decision to make with a couple tough league games coming up this week and the next. So far i've used 1 trade, and have only $11k in the bank.

Current team:

Backs: Chornes, Lockyer, Fisher, Houlihan, Adcock, Petrenko, Hill (Emerg: Raines & Broughton)

Mids: Ablett, Swan, Kornes, Gibbs, S.Tuck, Rich (Emerg: Beams & Robinson)

Rucks: Cox & McIntosh (Emerg: Jacobs & Spencer)

Fwds: Deledio, Didak, Franklin, Higgins, Ziebell, M Brown and Walker (Emerg: Skippy & Hentschel)

So if Didak is out again, i'm looking at a 0 in the forward line. (or if petrenko is out and raines not back a 0 in the back line).

I'm debating trading in Gia so that I only have 2 rookies on the field in the forward line (and effectively bringing in another gun) and considering:

a) Rich -> Hartlett & Skip -> Gia
or
b) Walker -> Warren & Skip -> Gia
or
c) something else .....

So I guess the decision at the end of the day is will Rich/Warren be a better option than Hartlett/Walker.

I'm leaning towards b) as I suspect Walker will maintain his spot and the same with Hartlett who actually looks pretty good. I know i'm not getting full value from Rich, but injuries may force this compromise.

Any thoughts?

Why don't you go Skippy > Warren first? Makes me sense because you at least know Walker is playing, saves you the trouble of having Meesen play because you can upgrade Hille now.
Your forward line will be a bit weaker for the week, but there is a bunch of forwards with big B/E's and it gives you a good time to look them over.

Just seems smarter to me to hold onto a guy who is at least playing (Walker) then holding onto injured blokes (either Skip or Hille)

@ $300,000 and 2 rounds of 75, Hasleby's BE is 75. Interesting ;).

I'm definatly leaning towards Hasleby -> Hartlett this week. I think you have just cemented it.

If hasleby can score 80 thats only an extra $20,000 and you will have to wait a long time due to price changes only factoring in 25% of current form.

This is my first year at DT but i think this is what everyones talking about when jumping ship onto a new bolter. Timing is everything.

Also, sure you don't have to get on every rookie but the mid cash cows seem WAY TOO GOOD to pass up.

Originally i was going to do the following:

Dalziell -> Swan
Malceksi -> Hodge/Fisher
~2-3K leftover...

After some thought, I'm gonna take the risk and downgrade Dalziell to Hartlett this week, which means I will be starting Hartlett, Rich, Beams with Hill and Anthony on bench. The reasoning is to get another cash cow into my team. Currently I only have Rich/Beams as my cash cows over 200k ( I missed the boat with Ziebell, Ottens, Rance, Moss, Whitecross to name a few). The others are Hill, Suban, Petrenko, Anthony(inj), Walker, M.Brown. As you can see, they are hardly the best money makers, and I want as much fast cash as possible. I want to ensure i get my best team out as early as possible. So I believe getting Hartlett is a step in the right direction. I have 18 trades left, so that isnt a concern to me at the moment. I have enough to get the final team I want (barring major injuries/suspensions).

So this is the plan to take command:
Round 6:
Dalziell -> Hartlett
Walker ->Riewoldt

Round 7:
Malceski ->Hodge/Fisher
+ ~60K remaining
I'll have 15 trades spare after Round 7 for the next round of upgrades in 3-4 weeks time when I downgrade Rich/Beams and get Swan/Bartel into the midfield.

Essentially it is Walker(FWD)->Hartlett(MID). A downgrade which is well worth it for me.

Gains:
* Upgrade for Walker (Best forward in Riewoldt into the team), and Walker at best will go up another 20-30K in my opinion. This would take another few weeks with the dud scores in his current rolling average.
* Good cash cow/bench player options in Hartlett
* Allows me an extra week to make my decision on Hodge/Fisher. Both have B/E of ~100. So their prices shouldnt fluctuate much.
* Gain the extra points per week with Riewoldt covering for the loss of Dalziell while other Dalziell owners may hang onto him.
* Dane Swan has a large B/E at the moment, he will be a better priced option in a few weeks.
* S.Burgoyne out for further month, which is good news for Hartlett's DT game.

Losses
* Midfield starting 3 rookies for 3+ weeks
* Trading out premium in Dalziell as he could possilby be back in 4 weeks.
* Use an extra trade with this method.
* Essentially sideways trade (Dalziell to Riewoldt), but 4-6 week injury is too long to wait.

Now that should be a good plan barring injuries, suspensions, omissions! It's a risk, but things are more fun this way...Fingers crossed:)

I think its a good idea, but thats probably because im doing a similar trade. :p

^ I would lean towards option A which is what I think you meant to write?

Go Port this weekend.

ah yes you're right, it was "option A" I was leaning towards ... oops

so yep, in my thinking Hartlett+Walker > Rich+Warren

Until future upgrades i'd therefore have either hartlett or beams on the field.
