Thanks JT. They sound (and look) good.

So good footy's back again. Back in town next week so will try to get to a training. In the meantime the Name-a-Game sale has given me 18 new videos to watch. Love that organisation now!

I dont think he has learnt how to use his strength yet, when he does though, look out.

I dunno about that. He often tries to out body opponents but tries too early because he was trying to compensate for his relative lack of size (and gave frees away). He's smart enough to use his body and strength but hasn't really been in a position to use it at AFL level. Hopefully that will change this year :D

Looks like Mackay has put on a little muscle. Judging by the footage channel 10 showed tonight from today's training.

Hahahaha, Dangerfield's still as white as a sheet :D

Really appreciate the comments from people who went, in particular JT :thumbsu: Today and tomorrow are strength and conditioning sessions, Thursday will have a bit more footy work.

Presumably starting next week they're back into normal training sessions.

Any comments on Knights? He's usually one of the most impressive on the track and I'd dearly love to hear of him ripping it up again this year in preparation for a super 2011 :thumbsu:

You can see he was trying to impress with late impact low kicks, unfortunately, their harder to control. Can tell he sprayed one just by the expression on his face.

And the **** when you read his lips! ;) Poor bugger... probably saw the camera and put pressure on himself. I hope he loses that soon!

I was really impressed with How Knighta was kicking the ball- both passes and shots on goal. Was really timing the ball sweetly. He looked ripped as usual when he took his shirt off and with the runs he didn't stand out but was usually in front of most.

I don't know if it was a surprise but I was super impressed with Brodie Smith's running! To beat everone except VB in the 5 min run was outstanding.

One thing was bugging me- a bloke on our list looked from a distance like a short Steven Salopek but I still don't know who it was! Can someone tell me who it could be?

There was someone there who ran withe the boys who looked like a professional runner. He would set the pace for VB in the 5 min run and Goodwin runs. Thought it was a good idea to give VB someone to chase and push him when noone else on our list can.

Could have been Matt Wright. Was he ripped like noones business? If so it was Matt.

Bird Man did the same thing last year as he was injured. He'd join in on the laps to pace the leaders.

The news report last night mentioned that dude in black running was a Boundary Umpire.
Ha I just thought he was some super athletic kid who got lucky and was able to train with the boys ha.
It was pretty funny watching all the boys just stand there and watch him run.

I ventured down for the 1st time this pre-season.

Todays session was a long one (spanning over 3 hours while I was there).
The session was split by 4 different groups which were Utilities, mid/smalls, key position/ruck and another group of mid/smalls.

The 4 groups rotated between 3 stations (on the oval) in a 45 minute rotation although each group entered max basheer at different time slots. The 1st station was all about strength and speed exercises by running between cones, jumping hurdles, pulling sleighs with weight plates, carrying weight plates above heads and holding broom sticks bove heads while ruuning.

The 2nd station involved footys by simple kick to kick, set shots on goal (for forwards) body work (defenders) tap work (rucks).

The last station was based on body contact in confined areas but I didn't watch too much of these drills.

I rocked up just before 9am and the Ultility sized players were out on the small oval stretching/warming up. This group consisted of Stevo, Tex, VB2, Gunner, Hendo, Otto, L Thomo, Youngy and Talia. Sam Shaw also made appearnces by doing laps. Off in the far distance another group of 3 were doing handball drills (Dmac, Craig and Milera).
In the sled pulling races (a strap attached around the waste and attached to a sled which probably weighed around 10kg plus a 10kg weight plate sat on it) Tex was the stand out in this group.
During this time Craigy hopped on a mans scooter and done a small lap around the small oval which was quite funny.

This group finally moves on to station 2 and the players are moved into forwards and defenders. Stevo, Otto and Thompson move to defenders and the remaing have shots on goal. Tex and Gunner were the two best shots on goal in this group.

The 2nd group emerge from the rooms at 9:45 consisting of Jaenschy, Pets, Callanhan, Porps, Wright, Dogga, Thomo, Stiffy, Radar, Sloaney and Milera (joined after his handball drills). Bernie also came out to do modified work during this time.
Pets was a stand out for me in the sleigh races. He beat Thomo and Porps among others in his group which shows he has good power to compliment his speed :thumbsu:.
When moved to the 2nd station only Dogga, Stiffy and Pets were moved to defence and the remaing had goal shooting. Jaensch, Thomo, porps, Callanhan were all very good with there shots on goal.

The 1st group moved back into the rooms and the big boys were out next consisting of Tippo, Smack, Philthy, Moran, Sauce, Ivan, Sellsy and Truck.
I didn't see too much of this groups 1st session as I was watching the goal kicking from group 2. Once they moved to the next station Sauce, Ivan and Moran were doing ruck drills (giving a indication of what rucks the coaching staff have in mind). The others bar Truck were doing the set shots. I did happen to watch a little of the 3rd station with these guys and Tippo laid a beautiful hard tackle running down Truck.

The final group consisted of Danger, Martin, Bling, Army, Roach, Cook, Smith, Symes, Knighta, Douggy, VB while Martyn was doing laps and praciticing his kicking technique with Jonas and Schmidt was doing modified work. I only watched the 1st station with these guys as it was already 12pm by the time that finished. Bling and Danger were stanouts with the sleighs while Douggy won most of the sprints.

Looks like Mackay has put on a little muscle. Judging by the footage channel 10 showed tonight from today's training.

He's been on restricted training following groin surgery which really hampered his ability to close out the season after a massive start. From reports he's been spending a lot of that recovery time in the gym which can only be a good thing. He's not a bad inside player when he gets a chance.

Was there again today. It was a short session and looked like one the boys enjoyed. There were 5 cones between 20 and 30m out from goal on different angles. On each of the cones was an assistant coach standing the mark. The squad was divided into 5 groups with each group kicking set shots. Each player had to kick 5 shots from each station with the assistant coaches on the mark recording the scores for each player. There were targets set 20m behind the centre of the goal for each angled shots. Once a group had completed all their shots from a station they lined up for a 600m sprint before heading to the next station. There were incentives for accurate goal kicking. If a group went through without missing a goal or if a group hit the target behind the centre of the goal twice from the same station then they didn't have to do the next 600m sprint. There were huge celebrations when the targets were hit. At one stage Phil Davis hit the target on two consecutive shots. Very impressive considering the targets were about 45m away and were the size of an average person! As a whole most shots were goals and it seems we are practicing being successful by kicking lots of easier set shot goals. Most reliable shots on goal in my eyes were Callinan, Jaensch, Von Bertouch and Tex.

On another note it was pleasing to see how Tambling and Jacobs are fitting in so well socially. The boys are making a real effort to make them feel at home.

After this the rucks and miss did some stopage work and Kurt stayed back working on snaps on goal. He was kicking well both feet for a big guy.
