It's nice to see some balanced comment from TP giving Fed some credit. We won't be seeing 2004/07 again. That is gone. However i am surprised to see him put together wins VS the other top players ( Murray. Djoko, Nadal ) in the same event. I though that was now beyond him and it probably is except in the very biggest events. I'd love to see him get somne fire back and got to the AO competitive.
how long will you be making that excuse? this tournament he played at his very best, this was probably better than his 2007 form.Whether he can hold it or not, thats another thing.I guess in AO we will find out if he is a form-fraud or not.If he loses AO this year, he can virtually kiss the number 1 spot goodbye cause rafa only made the quarters last year.So if Fed loses to rafa in the finals even, fed will lose 2000 points+ to rafa.
P.S Memo to GT.Where have you been this year? have you ever given credit to rafa? do you take back your ridiculous comments like :Rafa is a claycourter, he will never beat Nole or Murray off clay, etc etc? I am giving credit when deserved, yet you were nowhere to be found this year.I bet you still think nadal is a claycourt moonballer.
Rafa could win 20 slams and I would still be indifferent just as I was basically indifferent to Sampras blasting his way to titles and Agassi running down balls on the way to his. I would accept Rafa's ability but be unmoved by his aesthetically unattractive play. Only two tennisplayers have ever really excited me. McEnroe and Federer. The likes of Sampras, Agassi, Nadal etc are commendable and all great players but are frankly dull and grinding athletes compared to the art of McEnroe or Federer.
I am a fan of beautiful strokeplay and make no apology for that so when the slams are being won by grinding athleticism I turn off my interest level. When the artist comes to life I am interested. That's me. I don't expect everyone to be the same.
PS I don't think Fed will hold his form. In his 30th year a tennisplayer is always on the wane. Fed will not and actually probably cannot return to his 2004/07 level. No 29 year old does.
You're embarrassingly insecure TP; you'd think you were married to the bloke the way you try to defend his honour.
