Re: Round 3 captain?

Ablett hasn't been doing it for me thus far......
Had Swan against the Dee's and got burnt......

I'm leaning towards ROK against the tigers.....

But tough call between Roo, JB, Ablett and ROK... on current form alone Ablett is at the buttom of the list.... Its this exact thinking and scenerio that thinks I should just throw it his way.... Might have to do some coin tossing to decide.

Re: Round 3 captain?

You all have to remeber when picking Ablett this week:
He will be playing away from home.
Crowley will be tagging him.
Crowley has a good record on Ablett.

Re: Round 3 captain?

I have taken the 'ballsy' decision and Put O'Keefe as captain, my reasoning is Richmond will be destroyed by Syd, I hate to admit it. They should take a majority of the points even as much as 2000 of the 3300, if they dominate the gamy like St. Kilda did. O'Keefe and Goodes are probs the best point scorers on the team and Should rack up huge. :)

I feel if I take this risk and it pays off I could score as much as 340 points, maybe more. If I hav GAJ as capt he is low risk coz most people will have him as capt, but we all know his record v Crowley. Say Ablett scores 110 thats 120 points difference. ;)

If it goes against me and GAJ scores huge, RO'k will still get a good score, its Richmond for god sake. This move could launch me into the top 1000 im not far off. :thumbsu:

Re: Round 3 captain?

Is the 'ROK will smash Richmond' strategy reminding anyone of last weeks 'Swan will smash Melbourne' trap that several fell into?

My thinking is that if you stick with Gaz and he gives you a 130 average for the year (soft estimate probably) thats a bloody good average for your skipper. If I started throwing the captaincy around I think I would find it hard to beat a 130 average.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!

The theory is sound... but SH#T happens is this game

Re: Round 3 captain?

Richmond the worst team in the last 30 years and worst this season, in sydney, against a team in top form, in a night game. We well lose by 300 points RO'k kicks 17 goals and picks up 78 possies and 385 SC points :D Slight exaggeration, but you get the picture.

Re: Round 3 captain?

Sticking with Gablett, but I agree it is naive to assume someone will score well just because they're up against crap opposition. It can mean the stars players don't need to play as well to win and there will be a lack of contested footy which is where all the premiums got their points from.

Re: Round 3 captain?

I had Roo as captain last week and it paid off....

I have the choice of Gaz (doubt I will go with him)
Roo up against the pies....is presti playing????
Brown up against Power.....this is an option or
ROK against the Tigers?

Re: Round 3 captain?

Just had a look at the stats and Roo is a clear winner against the Pies!
Description Date Opponent Result K HB D M G B T HO GA GC I50 FF FA
First Qualifying Final 6th Sep Collingwood Win 80-52 13 6 19 10 5 1 5 2 1 6 4 3 1
Round 7 11th May Collingwood Win 128-40 13 4 17 11 5 1 4 0 0 5 4 2 1

Re: Round 3 captain?

Roo is a clear winner anyway.

I think he might just edge out Gablett this week.

Oh yeah, if you don't have Riewoldt, last chance to trade him in. Take it

Re: Round 3 captain?

I love to hate Crowley. GAJ does struggle against the Dockers - going to have to go with ROK or Roo this week.

Re: Round 3 captain?

Any thoughts on Murphy v Bombers. has been sensational so far. Should be a good game but cant see who could hold him.
Probably not an option as captain, better players out there.

nvr seen a supporter so confident in their teams abilities :D

Quite right Thomas, quite right.

Picked Roo last week- win. If it 'aint broke and all that, but Presti does give pause, and the Collingwoods will be eager to have a nice sit down and a cuppa to 'discuss' the QF last year...I expect it'll be a robust exchange of views.

Trying to work out a trade to jump on the Browny express with all the other eejits who didn't pick him from the start, so it would be churlish of me not to offer it to him though- don't know how Port are going to look after he and Fev and Brennan and all the little Lions...

Gazza is also away, with Creepy waiting. He is angry though, and you (and they) wouldn't like him when he's angry.

RoK is white hot, and on home soil against the Tiggers. Reckon they'll try to tag him out? King? Jackson? Any Tiges/Swans people have thoughts on that?

Thought I had all worked out until I wrote this.
Hope it helps someone though:rolleyes:

Murphy is one of the best captain options in the game if you want a reliably high score. Pretty much guaranteed 100+ (4 <100 last year) where even stars like Riewoldt seem to have off days. Of course Gablett is just as safe as Murphy but with a higher upside.

Re: Round 3 captain?

Tossing up between ROK and Riewoldt.
Those are the options this week imo.

I dont think any 1 can keep up with him, well there is Jackson but I can't see him playing directly on RO'k, especially if he is pushig foward. I fell the Swans wil poach 2000 of the 3300 points atleast and RO'k and Goodes should have a big slice of that. Jump on O'keefe as capt! I have :)

Re: Round 3 captain?

Remember last year when Ablett was a lock-in captain...

WOW with ROK, Roo and Brown it sort of makes it more interesting...Then you got Murphy v Bombers....

Then you got Impromptu who wants to go Goodes capt over Roo and ROK...LOL... I just can see Goodes kicking a bag and I can't see who will tag him out at the SCG.... Having said that I'll probably chicken out and go ROK.....

Agree with most of you guys who picked Roo and ROK (who don't have Ablett)..

Chapman? Anyone?

Kinda of fun, but kinda of scary not know who to pick as captain...LOL

Re: Round 3 captain?

Barlow anyone?;)

Seriously though, I'll probably be going with ROK. Mcveigh seems to cop the hardest tag from the opposition so it'll free him up.

Roo is very tempting, but I think the Pies won't let him have as much of an impact as he's had over the first two rounds.
