Re: Round 4 Captain?

Gary thanks. Stuck with him after his 2 average games first up and he turned it on last week, will do it again against Port.

Those 127 and 128 scores in the first 2 round were shocking weren't they, should be put to the firing squad for that rubbish.

Re: Round 4 Captain?

Picking Hodge this week. Generally cuts it up against the Pies. Also the guy i'm playing has Hodge as captain and I believe the rest of my team to be better than his so can cancel out any possible loss in captain differences.

Re: Round 4 Captain?

Picking a captain is so easy when you have GAJ, at worst he will score 110.

Round 5 Captain

GAJ has been subdued against Joseph (last year), but Joseph has been pretty ordinary thus far.

Pav is in some fair fettle, and comes up against the Tiges (-10 than his avg)

Sandi could be worth a look - Simmonds is awful and Vickery a stick.

JB against the Dees has appeal - likes the G, does JB, and if Riewoldt did well on Frawley last week than Brown should do very nicely

Naturally, I'll probably go Gary, but a fair few have bet against him this year so there might be other favourites for R5...

Thoughts?

Re: Round 5 Captain

Im picking Goddard, always reliable.

As is ablett, But i think JB could pull a ripper this week if u wana take a risk:thumbsu::thumbsu:

Re: Round 5 Captain

Sandilands/Brown is what im thinking. GAJ's game will suffer due to Joseph toweling him up once more..

hahaha.. classic.

I think you'll find the only time Carlton played Geelong last year was in round 19 (where indeed Joseph probably got the better of Gaz). However the Geelong players were coming off a 'mini preseason' which they did from rounds 14-19 (IIRC) in order to ensure they were extra fit and primed for the finals series... Worked pretty well for them too. But it resulted in them playing a few ordinary games (Carlton being one of them) and resting players as they were so stuffed.

In 2008 when Carlton played geelong, Gaz notched up a lazy 157.

Take the 'C' of him at your own peril

Re: Round 5 Captain

Gaz captain, same old same old. If he has a downer, he'll still score ~100 at worst. Rather be looking at a floor of 100 than taking a punt on a forward who could score <60 if they are having an off day.

granted there are strong reasons for Pav or 211 this week against the tigers, but on the back of two big games against the cats and the saints, i reckon some of those blokes who have been performing their guys out might play the first half only and then be rewarded with a rest in the second half assuming the game is out of reach for the tigers by then.

Nothing more frustrating that seeing your captain warming the bench when he's perfectly fit.

By the way, you'll find Bay13 up a few tabs, suggest you keep those remarks in that forum.

Re: Round 5 Captain

Yeah Carlton is an Awsome team, beating the only 2 winless teams in the league, nice work guys. :thumbsu: Get your hopes up, even Melbourne is a better club than Carlton.

This thread is to discuss Captain selections for round 5 this week, not to sledge the Carlton Football Club. There are plenty of threads elsewhere to join in that fun :p

Who else are people liking this week? Anyone taking a punt on a unique captain choice this week to try and catch up a few points?

Im liking medhurst... I dont have him personally but if u have hes ur man. More than likely he will play on henry slattery (Thats if slatts doesnt get dropped:p) The last 4 games like always essendon where smashed by small forwards RD1 Geelong, played on byrnes and he kicked 3.5 (Not 100% sure) but got more than 100SC points, RD2 Freo, Played on Bilbo Ballantyne again bilbo scored goals and got 100, RD3 Carlton, Played on Betts, I cant remeber how he went kicked 2 or 3 and got some good points, RD4 (yes the list goes on) Weagles, Played on Le cras, kicked 5 goals and scored high. As you can see big bags and Lots of points seem to come when slattery's around. So if you have this could be a very smokey, smokey pick. Come on you know you want to ..

JUMP ON MEDHURST!!!

Tempting...

but either GAJ, Pavlich or Brown for me. Pav is on a roll, kicked 5 against a stingy defence, at Etihad, so he's in good nick, and Richmond should be a walk in the park at Subiaco. Then again, he probably thinks that too...

Might consider it.

Re: Round 5 Captain

Garry Ablett Junior, i wont change captain all year unless abletts out

You don't know what you're talking about. Carlton played Geelong twice last year. Once in preseason where Joseph kept him to 84 points and once in rd 19 where Joseph kept him to 81; his two lowest scores of the year. If you ask me, he's the most suitable player to tag him in the competition.

Who cares about 2008 because Joseph only started playing in 2009.
