Re: Round 5 Captain

Ablett Junior. Tempting to go with Pav, Sandi or Goddard, but I learned my lesson last time I gave the captaincy off him. Will still think about it during the week, but more than likely Ablett.

Hehe, the last time I took the captaincy off Ablett, I put it on Riewoldt the week he went down.

Still tempted to go with Pav though. Oh, and Goddard. Oh, and Dal Santo. Oh, and Sandilands. Oh, and...

That too was my last time I took the captaincy off him. I know if I do, he will rip out a massive score and my captain will dud it up or get injured.

Re: Round 5 Captain

Don't have Ablett. Tossing up between Brown and Hodge. Hodge didn't let me down last week so might give him another go with the armband.

Re: Round 5 Captain

You don't know what you're talking about. Carlton played Geelong twice last year. Once in preseason where Joseph kept him to 84 points and once in rd 19 where Joseph kept him to 81; his two lowest scores of the year. If you ask me, he's the most suitable player to tag him in the competition.

Who cares about 2008 because Joseph only started playing in 2009.

Actually I think you'll find I am spot on as to why Gazza struggled in round 19 last year. I don't think any player can expect to train as hard as the Cats did in the mid-season last year and still be expected to play well each week..

As for the pre-season game.. You're surely not serious in counting that one as a win to Joseph?! I think you'll find pre-season is hardly a measure of where Premiums are at... Here's some proof:
- Gazza scored 93 against Freo in the NAB cup yet came out and scored 155 odd against them in round 3.
- Sammy Mitchell was one of the highest scoring players in the NAB cup yet has managed just one ton so far in the season proper
- Brendan Goddard's highest score in the NAB cup was only 99..

Enough said mate. Like I said, take the 'C' off Gazza at your own peril. I'm so sick of all these people saying 'Gazza won't score well this week because of blah blah blah'... The bloke is a pure gun and at worst will manage you around 120!

End rant.

Re: Round 5 Captain

Last time I took the (C) off Ablett was so long ago I was opting for Chad Cornes instead. :D

First year I played and everyone was saying that the Cornes bro's were 'must have guns'...how times change. ;)

Kane Cornes is still a worthy pick but I think Chad is well and truly passed his best nowadays!!

People r rite in saying take the "C" of Ablett at ur own peril but isn't this all about taking risks in trying 2 earn urself more points.....which in turn if u can c a possible candidate that may earn u big points 1 round then its worth the punt IMO....."may pay off may not"!!

4 me this week I'm tossing up between Pavlich & Brown............at worst if they don't have a big game there still likely 2 score round the 80 mark which I no aint great 4 a "C" but still if Ablett were 2 have a 1 off and say only score a ton, then ur only doing urself out of 40 points!! Hence I think taking a punt on Pav or JB is worth it...as u only have 2 look at the opposition they r playing, possibly the worst backlines in the league and taking into account the form these 2 r in....well quite possible they may score in the high 100's this round!!

Yeh I see your point.. No doubt the thought of JB lining up against the Melbourne defence is frightening!! Pav also. He's Managed two brilliant performances in a row against the two best sides.. Imagine what he could do to Richmond

Geelong v Tiges - a week from Saturday.

Now that could be scary.....

I think it'll be pretty frustrating... whoever gets ten possessions in the first fifteen minutes before the game's deemed "over" will be the big points winner, so it could be Corey or Kelly or someone completely unexpected.

Re: Round 5 Captain

For those of you without Ablett, I'd seriously be considering Ryan O'Keefe as captain. Lowest score against WCE in the last 4 years has been an 87, all his other games against them have been 100+.

I'm thinkin' the later.

Re: Round 5 Captain
