Re: Round 13 Captain Selection

If you make franklin captain its locked in once he plays. You can't sub him, or move the captaincy. In other words don't make someone in the first week captain.

I'm playing Hodge (VC) and Ablett (C). If hodge pulls out a 150+ i'll move the captaincy from GAJ to Phil Davis (Crows will probably play him and make me leave it on GAJ anyway)

i'll be in the same situation, davis being the only player i could use and i wont waste a trade to swap davis out

Re: Round 13 Captain Selection

IMPORTANT TO NOTE

Just came to my attention. This is in case you decide to keep the VC score.

Just be careful when naming emergency's. If the 3 you pick are all playing in week 1, there could be a catch as the emergencies will all be locked in and you may lose some points.

For example. If you name Webberley, Howlett and Hitchcock (all their teams play in week 1) as emergencies for example and then decide to move Danny Hughes on to the field and make him captain (provided he's not named of course), to keep Hodge's score, then you will have to move a player to the bench. Let's say J-Pod.
In this scenario all 3 emergencies have played, so then you can't make J-Pod an emergency, leaving you with Hitchcock's score replacing Hughes 0, rather than J-Pod's score replacing the 0

Re: Round 13 Captain Selection

Thanks for that. I think l'm screwed with Maguire, Webbs, Stevenson, Shuey, Hille, Warnock, Brown and Playfair on the pine. Playfair is the only 1 playing 2nd week, therefore i can only put the C on a forward - PODS or ROK if l'm not happy with Hodgey's score.

Re: Round 13 Captain Selection

Not correct Purfect Pussies.

If you go with Hodge as VC and Ablett (I assume you have him) as C this is your scenario.

a) Keep Hodge's score by moving Playfair (if he's not playing) onto the ground and making him captain. In your case make sure Playfair is an emergency, so that you can move Pods or ROK to the bench and make them an emergency to cover Playfair's 0. In other cases make sure you have an emergency option from the 6 teams playing in week 2.

b) Decide against Hodge's score which would then mean no changes with Playfair, but also give you the opportunity to select any player in your starting 22 as captain that is playing in the 2nd week. eg You may have Ablett, Goddard and Swan in your team. You can decide on who you choose over the entire week leading up to week 2 lock-out

For those thinking they will use a trade to take advantage of this...DON'T. This should only be done if you have a non playing reserve from Geelong, St.Kilda, Sydney, Collingwood, Adelaide or Melbourne.

Re: Round 13 Captain Selection

Fortunately, I have Goodes & Playfair.

Therefore, I can make Hodge VC, and if I decide to keep the score I have the option of putting Playfair on the ground as captain with Goodes as an emergency (Provided of course he doesn't play).

If Playfair gets named, then we move the captaincy back to GAJ. Nothing lost.

Re: Round 13 Captain Selection

Spewin was gonn put hodge vc with either gaz or Goddard capt next week then realised I got no non playing subs then was already gonna bring in Henderson from adel then hot happy again then realised he will probs get picked :( can't do it, also another qn, if u don't pick a captain does ur vc automatically go as captain score???

Re: Round 13 Captain Selection

It's impossible not to pick a captain afaik.

If you could just not select a captain this maneuvering with non playing emergencies etc wouldn't be necessary

Re: Round 13 Captain Selection

But I mean put hodge as vc then if he scores good then just hav no captain next week

#Slaps head#

You have to select someone as captain. The game does not give you the option to not select a captain.

Basically, someone on the field has to be captain. The only way to fool it will be to put someone who is not playing on the field as captain. When they don't play they'll be replaced by an emergency and the VC score will become the C score.

Re: Round 13 Captain Selection

I have this terrible, awful & horrendous situation which will not allow me to take advantage of this loophole; it is likely that all 30 of my players will be playing!

The solution is obvious. Trade someone out to someone who isn't playing to take advantage of it. I suggest selecting the most expensive non-playing person (maybe Broughton?) to take full advantage of the loophole. ;)

Re: Round 13 Captain Selection

Im doing Cooney (vc) against the hapless eagles

Schmidt (c) with H.Shaw as emergency

If Cooney kills it, leave it as is (unless Schmidt gets selected where I will just swap him out for Shaw and not select a captain)

If Cooney doesn't kill it, Ablett (c) and swap Shaw back for Schmidt

that will work yeah?

That sounds right but I get a bad feeling about all this.

I have worked out the same thing where I put Hodge VC, McNamara infield with C and cox as emergency.

If i want to do it, i have to trade Seamus in, so this is the way i would do it

I then use my money from the Warnock to Seamus Mac trade to go Maguire to Gilbert, finishing my team

If Hodge rips it up, Seamus keeps the C, if not it goes to GAJ

Imagine if Seamus was picked due to Fraser's spudly effort last week

There would be a lot of pissed off Supercoaches!

Re: Round 13 Captain Selection

There is a big upside using this loophole may be an advantage.....

Unfortunately none of my bench players are playing in the 2nd half of the split round, so I need to choose a captain.

Who should I choose out of gaj, hodge, goddard or judd?

PS - im an ess supporter so dont want to select hodge.

Re: Round 13 Captain Selection

I heard Glenn Luff from champion data trying to explain this yesterday on SEN.
I'm confused,as as far as i have read on the various forums, his explanation was wrong?

He said you could make Brown skipper this week......

but what I can gather, you need a player to be not playing from a side next week, correct? If you choose Brown, then he will be locked as captain as Brisbane play this week. If so he has told everyone who listens to the show the wrong thing....

correct, if you choose brown, he is locked as captain this week. You need to chose a non playing bench player that their team is scheduled to play next week....

Re: Round 13 Captain Selection

Making Franklin VC, I have Ablett/Goddard in the second week, I'll roll the dice with Franklin. I reckon he's capable of getting 170+ against Essendon, given the form that Hawthorn are in and his record against Essendon.

His recent record against Essendon is:

2007 - 160, 108 (9 goals and 5 goals)
2008 - 189 (9 goals)
2009 - 104 (5 goals)
2010 - 120 ( 5 goals)

That's an average of 6.6 goals per game and SC average of 136.2. Essendon's had the wood over the Hawks recently and he's still bagged 5 in each game, if the Hawks play well tonight... he may kick 9 again (I'm not very optimistic for an Essendon supporter).

Im actually looking at using Franklin instead of Hodge as VC myself, like you said the stats dont lie. Hooker has gone to Franklin for the last 2 games and one would assume he will get the job again so another win for Franklin, and Franklin averages 109 in the friday night timeslot, Ca-Ching!

Hookers coming back from an injury as well so I don't expect him to be in good form. Making Franklin VC is a risk vs reward scenario... but in this case, the risk is almost none given that you can just put Ablett captain if he does shit.
