Cunnington looks like a big unit and should start round 1 with the Roos. I'll definately be picking Martin and Cunnington over Scully/Trengrove in the Midfield.

What about the forward line though? I think Ziebell, Sidebottom, Watts and Yarran may be worth looking into again.

I hope Lucas, Trengrove and Tapscott can be selected as Forwards.

I'm definitely considering Watts. At only $141k he is cheaper than some of the first year draftees and we know he will play games. I also like Ziebell/Sidebottom but at >$300k they would really need to increase their average to be worth it, so maybe.

i was considering hartlett, vickery, ziebell, sidebottom, suban and maybe ballantyne as second year players.

ziebell, sidebottom, suban and hartlett all will be around the 300-350 mark. vickery and ballantyne will be a bit cheaper then that.

will ziebell and sidebottom still be a named as for/mid?

i know its off the subject but what do you think about picking up henderson if he is around 300k?

Henderson will play every game for us this year i would think barring Injuries and he will be a key focal point for us. Wether or not this equates to be being a good SC scorer is still to be decided but i can see him averaging a score of 70 odd with a few decent 100pt games along the way. He will be in my team if under or around the 300k price range.

let me see if i can impart some of my wisdom

being doin SC for a few years now and i rekon the most important thing with bench players is having players who's body's are up to playing AFL. also can't stress enough the importance of intra-club match's, NAB cup games and mail out of clubs as to who is really impressing.

Scully - will keep an eye on his pre-season but is coming back from a fractured knee. expect melbourne to take it very easy on him and i'm therefore hesitant to pick him up

Trengove - more likely than scully but still have no idea what melbourne will do with these two

Martin - like the look of him. AFL body, has the fire in the eyes and plays for Richmond. Hopefully Hardwick has a pair of plums and gives him games. if richmond do a cotchin on me i'll be filthy

Morabito - looks to be a certain starter. man-child and is playing at freo who has hill and suban play 22 games last year. fremantly is supercoach rookie gold, jump on at every oppurtunity.

Cunnington - hard nut, AFL body. will be on my shortlist.

Rohan - wouldn't touch him with a 10 ft poll. looks like a long streak of pelican shit. freakshow talent wise but can't see him getting too many games with his frame.

Sheppard - my backline rookie. very keen to be part of the side round 1 and they are the things i absolutely love to hear.

Butcher - hell no. skinny, raw, can't kick. if he gets games he certaintly won't score points

Moore - no idea with this one. dunno if he's talented enough to be able to match the inevitable price rises of the morabito's and martin's. will watch with interest.

Melksham - outside player, looks a bit skinny but suits essondons game style i can see him playing 10 odd games. might get caught in between not being attractive enough to be an initial rookie and being to expensive to be a trade down target.

Gysberts - have no idea what melbourne plan to do with their kids. so i'll happily steer clear of this bloke

Lucas - yes. ready made, dunno if he'll get a game in carltons midfield but should occupy enough time on the flanks to be worth getting. one really worth looking at

Talia - nice size but you never know what clubs will do with talls. loved this bloke as a junior, probably one to look out for more next year

Jetta - mature age (21 y.o) and they are always attractive prospects. nothing of him but unlikely to be put on much weight. watch this space

Howard - no,no and no. doggies always treat their kids as if they are made up glass.

Mcmillan-Pittard. weighs 70 kilos and i'm going absolutely nowhere near him. suggest you do the same

Menzel - unlikely to get oppurtunities at geelong but really like the look of him. possible trade down target if the cats have a few injuries

and now for a bit of a summary of the rest of the draft
Talls - don't touch em. if they get a get they don't score anything anyway. stay away

trade down targets - tapscott, fyfe, bastinac, bartlett, duncan, stratton, taylor, dennis-lane, markovic. really any bloody freo player

don't touch koby stevens - recovering from OP - nasty.

pre-season is crucial aswell. anyone that picks up a little injury you don't want to go anywhere near

Based on what?

Look at the size of him, hes got absolutley nothing on him.

It would be suicidal to play Scully next year, im sure he'll be a fantastic player, but you cant throw a boy like that to the wolves.

Trengove looks much bigger and will play. :thumbsu:

Looks MUCH bigger? C'mon, havn't you seen the photo of Scully and Trengove together? (They both look small, compared to Martin and Cunnington). Trengove played in the seniors and should be good to go this year, and the fact the he has no injury means he should get a lot of games. This oppinion is void if Melboune want to ease him into the AFL. I honestly think a Baptism of fire is due...Watts for one needs to earn some respect.

I agree that he's not a well built guy yet but he's big enough and good enough to play a role for us straight away. Last year Stephen Hill played a role for Fremantle straight away and played it well.

Hill 184cm / 69kg
Scully 182cm / 74kg

Scully wont be able to play his preferred position (100% on-ball) straight away, will probably float around half back or half forward with occasional time in the middle.....but he will play next year.

Scully won't score much if he plays anyway. I read somewhere leading up to the draft that his main game revolves around handballing rather than kicking and doesn't take to many marks. As a 09 newbie to SC I have learn't th hardway to skip this type of player in favour of someone who takes a mark and kicks goals. Martin, Cunnington and any Fremantle kid will get game time and become cash-cows:thumbsu:

Will also avoid any 09 draftee talls and kids recruited in 09 top eight sides.

Best to look at the first round and then the mature agers.

From first round
- Martin - talent and body size/determination
- Trengove - massive talent, played SANFL seniors (would love it if he was in FWDS)
- Scully - talented, but small. Watch in preseason.
- Cunnington - big body, another candidate for FWD.
- Morabito - massive body and playing for a club with youth policy
- Lucas - Ready made for the hff
- Sheppard - aiming for round 1 (DEF - usually a tough spot to find bench kids)
- Tapscott - big body

Mature age
- Jetta - played WAFL seniors. Swans are crying out for youth.
- Will Johnson - 20 year old kpb, played VFL, drafted to saints
- Michael Barlow - About to turn 22, senior VFL player, rookie pick to Fremantle
- Stratton - 20 year old defender, hawks, played WAFL
- Dennis Lane - 21yo small forward, 57 goals in the WAFL, drafted to Swans
- Alex Silvagni - 22yo full back from Casey, rookie pick to Freo
- Andrew Strijk - 22yo half back, rookied to WCE
- Patrick Rose - 23 yo medium forward, rookied to dogs
- Marcus Marigliani - Big bodied VFL player, 24 yo, Essendon
- Hardingham - 21 year old quick, tall defender, from WAFL, Essendon (PSD pick)
- Markovic - 22 yo tall back (VFL) drafted to doggies

* Obviously you'd have to see what happens to their rookie status during the pre-season.

Then there's picks from previous years who haven't played/are still cheap and injured players coming back.
- Watts
- Ben Reid
- Luke Shuey
- Matt Maguire
- Gumbleton
- Charman
- Robbie Warnock
- Rusling

Jarrad Oakley Nicholls = the next Judd
We must have a go at this guy with pick 5. Everything about him spells out J-U-D-D. He is of similar height, about 186 - 187cm, has the same explosive pace with a 1st and 2nd at draft camp for 20m sprint and agility run.

Haven't seen him play so I don't know his ball winning ability and skill level but he must be alright to get an invite to draft camp.

geez daz. that's pretty damning evidence
Thanks for pretty much ensuring a quality poster never posts another half-decent post on the SC board ever again, well if I was Daz I know thats what I'd certainly do.

Its posts like this that have turned the BF SC board into an absolute farce, no wonder why the traffic is constantly so low, ungrateful people like yourself is the exact reason why all the sensible posters are being driven to the DT board.

@ Dazman thank you for sharing that quality information with us, quite frankly I couldn't give a rats *** if you thought JON was going to be a decent player or not, it has nothing to do with this crop of youngsters and is material for Bay13 not the SC board. For me all it does is prove your not a robot and anyways I'm sure plenty of us have picked absolute duds thinking they were going to be guns, Petrenko/Raines/Malceski anyone?

Did you specifically search that old post of his out and, if so, how long did it take you and why?

I for one thought his post in this thread was useful. You've got to take as many opinions on board as possible I reckon.

I am not sure what shooting him down like that really achieved or were you just stirring him up?

Trent Denis Lane is one to watch, with Micky o leaving there is a spot in the forward line free. He seems to be in Paul Roos plans as he was the only rookie to play in the scratch match the other day. Will be listed as a forward and will be rock bottom price. FWIW he is a mature age rookie who played in the WAFL system last year.

Hahaha that was from a time long before youtube clips. Never saw him play, so yeah, very inaccurate.

Nice to see n00b like you feels threatened by a decent post and therefore feels the need to do a 4-year background check. You sir are a w***er.

Good luck with SC 2010 mate. You will get no more advice from me. I'll stick to YSCC where my views are appreciated and where there are no shit posters like yourself.

FYI, I finished 30th overall in 2009, so my posts, although rare, are of good quality - and thats what this board needed.

Also, can you refute anything from my post? I dare you too...

Firstly Dazman, thanks for your original post. Much appreciated.
Second, good reply. I am backing that he was not even close to 30.
Finally, Mexycan - you better watch what you say this year (or for the next 4 yrs) as you could find yourself in the gun
