Suprised that nobody has started a thread on here yet.

I am really looking forward to it, although I do not have high hopes for the Socceroos, personally I think they will be lucky to get a point, we just seem to lack any killer touch, especially if Kewell isnt match fit, he, along with Cahill seem to be our only world class players.

I will also be suprised if there isnt a big controversy to come out of the event in regards to stuff off the pitch, I have spoken to a few Seth Efrikans and they are very worried that something will go drastically wrong, lets hope not.

Was also wondering where people plan on watching the games, I went to the rosemont last time around and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Not sure what the go is there this year in regards to drink specials or cover charge, checked out their website but doesnt seem to say much which is disappointing. I know the Stag and the Casino are good places to watch also.

I'm a little meh with the World Cup. The reality is I'll see very little of the competition because of the time it's on (and I'm not prepared to stay up half the night just to watch a soccer game).

I'll be very surprised if Australia doesn't finish bottom of it's group with an 0-3 record. Our recent practice match form has been woeful to say the least and we're up against 3 quality sides.

Well our only loss was to the US but people keep talking about how poor we have been yet seem to ignore the fact that Serbia and Ghana have been pretty ordinary themselves. We are a chance to sneak 2nd but it will be extremely tough, Ghana and Serbia are both capable of mental breakdowns so you never know.

I havn't been a big fan of soccer for my life, but since mid season 1 of the A-League (Adelaide's late season run) I've slowly gotten into it more, with my interest peaking in the AFC Champions League win with Adelaide a few years back

So my opinion on this matter is PROBABLY worthless - but, South Africa were very entertaining. Mexico were boring me to shit, and couldn't beleive how the commentators were able to say they were entertaining in the 1st half. South Africa though, I actually sat up and paid lots of attention for when they had the ball

great to see, and a cracker goal to finish it off

fell to sleep around 60-70 min in :(
was the Mexican goal any good?

ps. I'm 1/2 in tipping so far, didn't expect Uruguay to get a point out of that match

I would be ashamed and embarrassed if I allowed one through like that if I was playing a game in the backyard with the mates.

Makes Kalac's howler in 2002 look like a gallant effort on his behalf.

I was convinced one of the Centrals end to enders had one of those today (or somethhing similar)

Also, the Argentinian coaching staff look like they're dressed for a wedding!

Maradona looked like Antonio Banderas, although a bit fatter.

Anyone else see the USA's goal against England?

Couldn't believe it, they really need to find a decent keeper.

Bring back Seaman!

Socceroos

would rather watch a bad game of rugby before a good game of soccer.

As frustratingly soft our umps umpire these days it does not compare to the girly prima dona flogs who play soccer. I watched the first 15 mins of the SAF v MEX game as its the done thing, 1st game of a World Cup, switched it off bored and infuriated by the pansy diving about and much rolling about in agony for an ankle tap (which was a glancing blow at best) ....... YOU ARE WEARING SHIN GUARDS YOU SOFTCO*K, GET THE **** UP!

Despite not understanding a single word those 2 NZ sheila's were saying this arvo on One, the ANZ Championship is a tougher comp and I'd back any of those girls to take on any soccer player.

I went to the Casino and watched the game, as you can imagine the atmosphere was pretty shitty after the first 20 minutes or so so that was disappointing.

Never really thought we would win the game, but I did expect we would be competitive, at least for the most part.

As bad as the players performance was, I think it was nothing compared to Pim Verbeek's effort. No Kewell, to Breciano no Kennedy?! 2 nil down at half time and he changes nothing? Eeventually bring on Ruykavitsia who has barely had any minutes in a socceroos outfit and leave Kennedy on the beach who has 5+ years experience playing in Germany was just baffling.

I think the sooner the world cup is over the better as we get a new coach.

My sentiments exactly. It was only just over 2 weeks ago I saw Cameron Milne (somewhat foolishly) try to get up from a dislocated hip, and yet in the last 4 days I've seens players rolling around on a pitch supposedly in agony from the softest touches. The carry on from alot of soccer players when they're touched is as if they're in the WWE!

Perhaps the Socceroos should watch the last minute of this clip and take notes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWH6kDHS_hI&feature=related :D

Also the way some of the soccer refs carry on make McBurney, McLaren, and Chamberlain look like quiet, conservative umpires.

It doesn't just happen in the world game lads, I see it happen quite often in aussie rules as well. Simulation is creeping into that game as well so get off your high horses.
It's a pain
the thing about soccer that annoys me is how they stay down from such a minor touch

on the simulation thing, did you think Glenelg were culprits of this today?
especially #30 (the Ben Nason wanna be)

Switzerland beat Spain 1-nil last night. They were paying $17 for the win here at the TAB.

Could it have been fixed?
