2010 Fixture Request

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

Dear AFL,

Please schedule us for 2 games against the following clubs (yes I'm aware there's still 2 more games to assigned ;)):

Geelong
St Kilda
Western Bulldogs
Adelaide
Hawthorn

I want to play the genuine contenders twice - not Melbourne etc. I want to play against sides we don't play well against so we can try develop a gameplan to suit. I'd rather have a middle of the road season against decent opposition then flattering results against weaker teams.

Thanks

Bloody oath, i want the toughest draw possible, no more soft **** draws for us.

I want a draw that doesnt involve home games at docklands as this venue is far too small for the mighty magpie army! The only time we should play at docklands is if its against smaller interstate clubs, i.e. Freo and Port Adelaide. I'd like to see us play Bulldogs at the G, we didnt get to do that this year!!

You actually have a good point. Our easy draw is flattering our position on the ladder which denies us access to the better draft picks and has the potential to leave us in 'no man's land' for years to come-always thereabouts but never good enough to win a premiership.

Even if we get the draw suggested by the OP, opposition supporters will still be bleating that we have it easy.

My fixture request for 2010 (in no particular order):

vs. Adelaide @ AAMI Stadium
vs. Port Adelaide @ AAMI Stadium
vs. Sydney @ ANZ Stadium
vs. Brisbane @ The Gabba
vs. West Coast @ Subiaco
vs. Fremantle @ Subiaco
vs. Hawthorn @ Aurora Stadium
vs. St Kilda @ Aurora Stadium
vs. Western Bulldogs @ TIO Stadium
vs. North Melbourne @ Manuka Oval
vs. Melbourne @ Carrara
vs. Geelong @ Skilled Stadium
vs. Essendon @ MCG (ANZAC Day)
vs. Melbourne @ MCG (Queen's Birthday)
vs. Carlton @ MCG (Rivalry Round)
vs. Richmond @ MCG
vs. Hawthorn @ MCG
vs. St Kilda @ Etihad Stadium
vs. Western Bulldogs @ Etihad Stadium
vs. Geelong @ Etihad Stadium
vs. North Melbourne @ Etihad Stadium
vs. Adelaide @ Etihad Stadium

That way, I'd get to see the Pies in Adelaide twice, and we'd have more than enough travel to shut everyone up. It gives us 5 games at Etihad Stadium too, just to kill the 'too many games at the MCG' argument as well. If we still managed to win games and make the finals with that draw, then absolutely nobody could begrudge us our place and the 'soft draw' argument would be dead and buried.

So you all want us to have the toughest draw ever created, and thus eliminate any chance of a top four finish, and have our players so over exerted that they are bundled out in the first round, or not make the finals at al (so we can move up a couple of spots in the draft)?
I am stunned at the brilliance of thought in this thread (that comment is sarcastic, by the way).

22 games interstate??

We'd never get told we don't travel enough, we'd never get the they only play at the mcg, we wouldn't have to put up with shitty etihad AND we'd win every week!

hahahaha

so next season must begin around Australia day. nice. looking forward to anzac day already. :D

vs. North Melbourne @ Manuka Oval

Been a while since we played there. :p

Sadly enough, AFL did actually force us to play teams like Collingwood and Carlton interstate while play Port Adelaide at the MCG.

Personally, I couldn't really give a crap what our fixture is next year.

We didn't have an easy fixture this year, especially towards the end of the year:

Played Dogs at Etihad
Adelaide IN Adelaide
5 day break between Rnd.22 and First QF
Played Brisbane
and Carlton.

ALL of which made finals. 2 made it to the semi's
1 made it to a prelim.

Good point. We should face only weaker teams during the year then get exposed against decent opposition. That sounds much better. Getting smashed by 73 points isn't that humiliating.

I'd rather have a tougher draw and be better for the expierance. God knows we still have no idea how to play against the Saints or Hawks, and let's be realistic, we aren't in Geelong's league either.

I did say that those games were in no particular order :p Just listing the team and the venue.

Yea I was just trying to give us as many interstate games as possible. You haven't played at Manuka for about 2 years, right?
