2010 Fixture Requests

Surprise, surprise, surprise - seems that all the Victorian club supporters here want their club to have home (and in some cases an away game as well) against Collingwood. This is also exactly what all the Victorian clubs want ($$$$$).

Yet if the wishlist below is actually fulfilled, these same supporters will then come on Bigfooty squeeling like schoolgirls about Collingwoods mythical "soft" draw!
(North Melb) ...home games against Collingwood ...at the MCG rather than TD. ...
...For Essendon I'd like to see... Home game against ... Pies (Friday night block buster) - obviously ANZAC Day will be an "away" match in 2010...
(Melbourne). Keep the Queens birthday fixture against Collingwood ...
... Hawks can request who they want to play at Tassie as it is THEIR home game. They ... certainly won't be asking to play... Collingwood (in Tassie)...
(Geelong) 2 Home Games at the MCG against Collingwood and St. Kilda. ....
(Carlton) Sides to play twice for $$$ at gate:... Collingwood x 2
Specific games to request:
... Carlton v Collingwood - Rivalry Round (will happen anyway) ...
(Hawthorn) ... Home games against ... Coll ...
(Geelong) Home games v ... Collingwood ...
(Geelong) ... Play Collingwood twice during the season....
Then there's this -
(Geelong) vs. Collingwood, ... at Skilled Stadium
...
Well tell that to Costa and Cook. They are the ones who each year demand a Geelong home game v Collingwood at the MCG. You may be happy to lock out 60,000 supporters and forego $500,000 for your club. But luckily for you, your club administrators actually have something you don't have - some intelligence and vision.

My personal preference for Hawthorn:

- 4 home games in Tassie and 7 at the MCG
- Saturday games in Melbourne, much better than Sundays.
- Collingwood twice (nothing to do with crowds, just because we win!)
- Tassie games against Melbourne, Richmond, Adelaide and Freo or WC
- Queen's birthday game v Carlton (If the AFL won't let us have Good Friday, we deserve it more than Melbourne, and Collingwood already have Anzac Day)
- Anzac Day twilight game in Tassie again
- Play in Melbourne in Round 1
- First home game against a big Vic club (Geelong, Essendon etc.)

My fixture request for Collingwood in 2010 (games in no particular order):

  • vs. Adelaide @ AAMI Stadium
  • vs. Port Adelaide @ AAMI Stadium
  • vs. Sydney @ ANZ Stadium
  • vs. Brisbane @ The Gabba
  • vs. West Coast @ Subiaco
  • vs. Fremantle @ Subiaco
  • vs. Hawthorn @ Aurora Stadium
  • vs. St Kilda @ Aurora Stadium
  • vs. Western Bulldogs @ TIO Stadium
  • vs. North Melbourne @ Manuka Oval (I do realise the Roos haven't played there for a few years)
  • vs. Melbourne @ Carrara
  • vs. Geelong @ Skilled Stadium
  • vs. Essendon @ MCG (ANZAC Day)
  • vs. Melbourne @ MCG (Queen's Birthday)
  • vs. Carlton @ MCG (Rivalry Round)
  • vs. Richmond @ MCG
  • vs. Hawthorn @ MCG
  • vs. St Kilda @ Etihad Stadium
  • vs. Western Bulldogs @ Etihad Stadium
  • vs. Geelong @ Etihad Stadium
  • vs. North Melbourne @ Etihad Stadium
  • vs. Adelaide @ Etihad Stadium

That way, I'd get to see the Pies in Adelaide twice, and we'd have more than enough travel to shut everyone up. It gives us 5 games at Etihad Stadium too, just to kill the 'too many games at the MCG' argument as well. Obviously I'm disregarding the financial impact this schedule would have on both my own and other AFL clubs, but if we still managed to win games and make the finals with that draw, then absolutely nobody could begrudge us our place and the 'soft draw' argument would be dead and buried.

1. 2 Friday night matches (less than we usually get, I hate them)

2. No twilight matches (sundays)

3. Trade 1 Etihad game for another MCG game

4. Play Hawks on Good Friday

5. No selling home games to the Gold Coast

simple.

play geelong and essendon 2x
blues on good friday.
and NEVER play at that crap hole etihad, i might be just me but that place feels so plastic and fake, i hate it.

Typical Collingwood supporter - always have their heads in the sand.

We make more money having 20,000 at Skilled than if we get 80,000 at the MCG - so how are we losing $500k for playing at skilled? Do we make $1.2 million by playing at the MCG?

Also we request to play a home game against Collingwood at the MCG cause we are forced to play 3 home games in Melbourne so the AFL meets its requirements of 43 games at the MCG and Etihad each year.

Cook and Costa would prefer ALL 11 home games at Skilled.

I would request the AFL to stop asking clubs what they would like in their fixture.

I would request the AFL fixture to be simply play every team in the first 15 rounds and then the first 7 again and then run the fixture concurrently for ever home and away.

The clubs should not be asked or have any say what so ever in where and when they would like to play.

This.

To put it differently, I'd request the same deal as every other club. :thumbsu:

No games in Geelong.
More Friday night games.
Possible Round 22 Blockbuster Friday night vs Essendon, Carlton or Collingwood(Richo Farewell maybe) MCG
Vs Carlton Round 1 on a Thursday or Friday night
Less Sunday games and no Twlight games.
No selling of home games interstate either.
More games at the MCG then Docklands. Travel 3-4times.

For a Freo perspective

- No trips to Darwin, Queensland, Sydney or Tassie
- 2 Trips to AAMI
- Maximum of 2 matches at Etihad with the remainder at the MCG (4 games) (Carlton, Hawthorn, Melbourne, North Melbourne, Richmond and Saints)
- No trips to ****ing Geelong at all either
- Play Geelong, Collingwood, Essendon once at Subi
- Not as many 4:40 twilight games on a Sunday and definately not a game that starts at 7:10 either on a Sunday night (Victorian time)
- Foundation Day match vs Geelong

best comment I have ever read on this forum

Even when they did this the fixture was still rigged to requests. Collingwood still played Carlton, Richmond and Essendon twice. It doesn't really matter when you play the teams, they will rig it anyways.

Don't be a dickwad.

I said "possible" game, so if we draw a home game against Collingwood I want it at the MCG rather than TD because you can only get 45k odd public seating at TD, the rest is Axcess One or Medallion Club. I'd rather the game played at MCG where it will probably get 10-15k more and it wont be such a squeeze.

  1. Home games on Sat nights or Sunday 12pm for the kids
  2. No home game on Mother's Day
  3. 2 games as away team (Bulldogs and Essendon/Richmond) in Darwin either side of mid-season break
  4. Away game in Melb on a long weekend
  5. No games at home when the rain comes down sideways:D
  6. ANZAC Friday night at home vs Saints

Maybe next year not to play at Subiaco twice in 4 weeks

Try twice in three weeks.

The Eagles would like the following.

All NAB cup games in Perth. (we do enough travelling)
No games In Tassie, Canberra, Gold Coast, Darwin. (we do enough travelling Let the Vic sides do it)
No Games in Geelong. (we do enough travelling)

12 games at subi Including the derby's home and away)
4 at the G
2 at aimi
1 at the gabba
4 at the dome

Saturday arvo home games would be great.

Eagles going to play 23 games next year?

Have to laugh at how many people don't want to play Geelong at Skilled next year too. Bunch of chicken s**ts. :p

How do Port Adelaide think the AFL or any other club would ever agree to this???

I don't know, ask Port Adelaide! I was just putting forward what I'd request. Are you not happy for Port to play twice in Darwin? Would you rather the Hawks go up there? Or would you rather your club continue their push into Tasmania?
