Well Done to Rafa, insane performance today, this meant so much to him, it's obivous. Smashed his way through the clay court season, deserved the victory :thumbsu:

Soderling, disappointing performance, he would think he could do better than that.

Now I just don't want to see clay for a long, long time.

Yawn.

Boring player wins boring tournament. Roll on Wimbledon, the grasscourt season is always much more riveting.

I don't think I've truly got excited about a match at Roland Garros since the year Chang won the title.

Did you find it boring when Nadal won wimbledon in 2008? I certainly didn't :thumbsu::)

Best player in the world - thoroughly deserves his 5th FO

No doubt an incredibly impressive athlete, but he has the most tedious, one-dimensional game in the world. Seriously, even Lendl was more interesting.

The only matches of his I could stomach were between him and Federer off-clay when they were both at the peak of their powers. Now I don't even bother with those.

The FO was mildly interesting last year from a historical perspective. It's still a shit tournament.

Dominating performance by Nadal today, just flawless. :thumbsu: Soderling's only period of control was early in that 2nd set, probably a 10 minute window where he had quite a few break points, but he couldn't convert and it crushed him. Nadal wore him down, physically and mentally, and Soderling just couldn't hang in there with Rafa's brutal hitting and retrieval skills.

5th FO, 7th GS, on his way to becoming one of, if not the greatest of all time. Back at #1 where he belongs.

here is a chance to build a huge lead on federer with almost nothing to defend till canada.

:thumbsu: Did Federer really get to within 1 week of the all time weeks at #1 record? Considering it's a record that means so much to him, and to get so close, it's got to be shattering for him. ;) Rafa could put a pretty big distance between the two over the next 2-3 or so months, well even until the end of the year really.

also federer is defending 3,800 points till the US open....hopefully a few early exits and a decent show my djokovic will see him drop down to number 3...i will LOL if that happens :D

its called sports, our champion won...we arent allowed to celebrate?? oh precious little petal you are
Fair point I guess. Maybe I'm just cranky because it's 2:30AM, and several pages of "Rafa is teh awesumz!!!!!111 Fed fanbois can suck itttt." over two threads is a little repetitive.

Anyway, I'll head to bed and quit kvetching.
