Pears no where near Gumby in terms of injury prone.

He's just been desperately unlucky - seriously who ruptures a pancreas? I don't think there's inherent injury problem like we saw with Gumbleton. Further, Pears practically missed the entire pre-season in '09 and dominated that year, not too concerned about Pears.

From what I've heard we should most definitely be concerned.

cmon mate, you can't say that and leave us all chilled without elaborating...

Any foot injury is a real cause for concern - ask Hird!

Orthopaedic Surgeons will tell you that a significant foot injury will usually take at least 18-24 months to stabilise/heal.

I hope for Pears' sake that his foot injury is minor only, as he is definitely one of the best young defenders in the game.

All out of Surgery now

Essendon trio Tayte Pears, David Hille and Scott Gumbleton are all recovering well following minor operations this week.

Article says good news for Pears as they removed a spur in his foot and that was the best possible outcome. Are they still really concered about this Sir Jim, that is did they think it was something more serious or is this a bit of recent good news?

Hmmm would need to follow up. All I know is that it has been an ongoing concern for quite some time now and that the club is/was worried about it. Any quotes of "very minor injury" were to appease the masses.

Still not training and probably won't be ready come round 1.

Really hope that Pears recovers well from the injury.

It is extremely unfair that some people dont get even breaks with their injuries - its life, i realise, nevertheless it doesnt make it any more palatable.
Really hope he gets through this latest chapter strongly and has an uninterrupted stella career.

Gumby is definitely looking bigger, it's awesome. He's finally starting to thicken out a little bit.

He could be a monster, he really could

Yep looking a fair bit bigger. Still needs to do a heap of work on the ball drop though.

no doubt, and that is with no pressure at training; wait until there's 80,000 nuts screaming at him.

He'll never be a Tony Lockett, but let's just hope he improves his kicking in the way that Jobe has, becomes serviceable; and importantly, has that many shots on goal it doesn't matter

Which he might just do if he has the tank and the body
