Re: 2010 Wimbledon

Hewitt-M.Gonzalez
Luczak-Robredo
Ball-Berankis
Tomic-Fish

I would expect Hewitt to win.
Luczak has a strong chance against an out of form Robredo.
Ball has another strong chance against Berankis. His serve should do him well.
Tomic also has a chance against Fish. Fish is nothing.

Good draw for the Aussies.

Dent v Chela - Hopefully Dent is at good odds as he'll win!

Re: 2010 Wimbledon

Anyone know what Gonzalez in like on grass? I know he hasn't been in form lately but when he's on he's bloody dangerous.

Stosur playing Kanepi, she'll need to solid to beat her.

Re: 2010 Wimbledon

Hewitt in Djokovic's section! For once! Not the easiest draw exactly, I'm assuming that's Maximo Gonzalez because Fernando has pulled out but i can't see Maximo's name on the entry list

The rest of the aussies, Robredo is a disgraceful player on grass but so is Luczak, not entirely impossible as Robredo is never up for Wimbledon. Ball ahs got a very winnable first round and Tomic has probably too tough of an ask against Fish, should be interesting one as that should be on a tv court, no doubt Nine will be all ove that one.

Stosur should be able to get a 2nd week, there a couple of players that could give her trouble if she's off her game, kanepi in the first round actually could eb dangerous but she's been showing enough for me at eastbourne that she is still winning matches solidly. Molik's might be winnable don't know about ehr oppoent but Molik can't win a amtch to save her life. Groth in Safina's little section again. :D And Dellacqua it's her first match abck so doesn't matter.

Molik had anice little run a few months ago but she's been struggling ever since. She's not even able to make it to main draws, maybe time to retire again. It's a shame that her career's ended up like this.

Re: 2010 Wimbledon

Holy shit, Hewitt not in Fed/Nadal quarter.. Jaw, dropped.
Yeah, but look at who he has to play to get to Federer.

3rd Round - Monfils
4th Round - Djokovic
Quarters - Roddick
Semis - Federer

That's a bloody tough draw. Monfils on his day can be a very very good players and you never know which Djokovic will show up.

Re: 2010 Wimbledon

I'm not sure what to make of Rafa's draw. Nishikori first, then Blake who while a 'name' is pretty ordinary on grass. Then things start to get interesting, Gulbis and, particularly Isner, could trouble him.

Meanwhile Federer has two cakewalks to open, then Robredo I guess, although he's a clown. Lopez in the 4th, his best surface but 4th? Cmon. Davydenko the high seed in his quarter, and has he ever won a match at Wimbledon?! I think Berdych will be his QF opponent, but all up, a pretty coasty draw for Roger, not at all surprising.

C'mon, Monfils is average at best on grass and Djokovic is horribly out of form. On grass he should beat both, and obviously the next match is Roddick in the Quarters, and given his age and recent injury woes that's a good result.

Remember a few years back in 2007 when in the 2nd round Guccione had a 2 sets to love lead over him and lost, ended up making the 4th round that year.

Lopez is a decent player on grass and has taken sets off Federer before, not entirely easy.

Nadal's draw looks like a lot of fun, good to see good aggressive players in his section that could trouble him if they played their very best.

Re: 2010 Wimbledon

monfils won't do anything this wimbledon nor in any future grand slam

pea heart at best

the reason why i stopped supporting him.. at least show some heart son

it's a shame when the mental aspect prevents a sportsman from becoming his very best, no matter what the sport

Re: 2010 Wimbledon

He'll retire before he loses as well. It is why I respect Nadal a lot, even when he loses or has an injury, he plays the match out, and to make things better he does not blame injuries for a loss. Even at the French last year he did not blame his injury for Soderling winning, he just said Sorderling played well.

If Lleyton loses to Monflis, on grass, even if he has no hips, he needs to retire. Roddick and Nole are in ordnary form, so anything can happen. Clash with FedError is very gettable.

This may seem a stupid question as I have been sick for a fair portion of this month, but is Dementieva injured? If so how long is she out for?

Still got the calf injury that forced her to retire against Schiavone. Should be fine for the USO series. And with that, the Russian WTA domination ends. The top 10 oficially Russian free. (Unless Sharapova pulls some form out of nowhere)
Good opportunity for Sam to move into the top 5.

Gulbis has withdrawn apparently, as has Dinara Safina. Everyone dropping like flies.

Nalbandian, Karlovic, Stepanek, Gasquet, Dementieva, Safina.

Granted I don't particularly like any of the above players (except watching Gasquet), that's an awful long list of quality players to be missing a Slam.
