Actually there was a lot of Isner, De Bakker went from 1.40 to 1.70 before the match started. In hindsight, one of the big misjudges ever.

I'll probably take a passing interest in Isner and Mahut's careers from now on. They'll be riding this for years.

John Isner is an amazing bloke. Signing autographs even when he lost. Good on him for even turning up today. But he's still got doubles to play!


He'll be popular at the Aus Open next year.

Probably no more than before. He was up against Monfils on MCA this year and the entire crowd was going for the clown Monfils. Isner won in 4.

I take my hat off to both of them for sticking it out for so long, but I can't see either of them ending up as more than answers to trivia questions, just like Younes El Aynaoui.

McEnroe was on the radio this morning saying that it will probably take Isner and Mahut 6 months to fully recover from the beating their bodies have taken in this match and get back to peak fitness.

Sounds a bit farfetched to me, but if so I'd be a little more in favour of restricting matches.

This is probably the best Hewitt has looked in probably 4 or 5 years. Serving very well so far and looks very very good around the court. If he wins, he will really, really test Djokovic.
