Surprised nobody has made a thread yet. Starts next Monday and qualifying has been under way for a couple of days. Interesting stories as always for my favourite grand slam coming into it:
Men:
- Rafa's dominace contiune onto the grass like on the clay?
- Is Fed's reign on the Wimbledon crown (bar one year) over?
- Can Roddick have another crack at the title after last year's close loss? (and his poor loss to Sela last week in Queen's)
- Can Murray and Djokovic wake the f*** up?
- Can Soderling contiune the form from his French Open runner-up performace?
- Berdych, is he a contender for the slams now?
- And my favourite, is Hewitt back in contention after beating Federer in Halle? Surely not...
Womens:
- Williams sisters domiance over the title contiune?
- How will Sam cope after the horrible RG final loss, now she is on the grass?
- Schiavone going into it as the player to win a slam, how will she go?
- Russian meltown, will it contiune?
- Jankovic, maybe she's contending for the majors again?
- Who else is going to step up? Wozinacki, Azarenka etc.?
As for the Australians we have 7 in the main draw with qualifying still happening:
Men:
Lleyton Hewitt
Peter Luczak (finally achieved his goal of playing in the main draw at all the slams)
Women:
Sam Stosur
Alicia Molik
Jarmila Groth
Casey Dellacqua (first match back after a few months off, might not go so well)
Anatasia Rodionova
Plus, a bundle won in first round of qualifying last night. Ebden, Sirianni, Tomic (7-5 in the third), Jones, Matosevic and Ball in the men's 2nd round while Golds and Dokic (she's winning matches, yay) are in the women's 2nd round. Got to say disappointing to see Sophie Ferguson lose 1st round of qualies, is getting closer to the top 100, win is a big boost. Hopefully they all don't get knocked out tonight.
TV Coverage: Channel 9 and Fox Sports, note that Channel 9 are deciding to show the ODI series with England for some stupid reason so there will be clashes on a few of the days. There will always be livestreams.
Draws come out Friday around 7pm.
