Re: Round 9 Captain

Was off him last week, my bad!
so was i - reckon the pies are playing about half a game each week and scores are starting to reflect that.
hence my vote goes to sandilands

Re: Round 9 Captain

Pavlich or Sandi should pull some big numbers against Port, so will probably choose either one of them for C this week, although if I decide to bring in Pendlebury this I'll probably chuck the C on him as Adelaide are shizen at the moment.

Re: Round 9 Captain

A St Kilda midfielder could be the go this week.

Went Goodes last week and he averages well against the Hawks and is doing very well this year so far.

Re: Round 9 Captain

Mundy average 104 against WC in his last 5 including a 64.

Only once scored less than 100 against them in his last 7

Interesting stat Pez, albeit irrelevant given Freo play Port Adelaide this weekend...

In all seriousness I'm tossing up between Swan, Sandi and Mundy

Re: Round 9 Captain

Def thinking Swan although I hope his time in the forward last week didnt mean he was carrying anything... We will have to wait and see. Cmon Swanny bounce back big :D

Re: Round 9 Captain

Swan went forward, and his body work created 3 goals in quick time.

He kicked 1 himself and was manhandled without frees for the other 3.

His floating behind packs was worrying, but i think he's due to rip the arse out of someone.

I've hit two sub 100 captains in a row...can Swan pull the hattrick off???

Re: Round 9 Captain

In theory Collingwood should have a big win over Adelaide because:

1) Lost last week and will be fired up
2) In Melbourne, Adelaide don't play well there traditionally
3) Collingwood are the better side by some margin, Adelaide are young

So, there will be lots of points up for grabs for Collingwood players, and I'd expect Swan to do well. They have indicated they will try to play team defense rather than maning up our stars which means that Swan will be given quite a bit of freedom I would think. Adelaide's backline will be under the pump all game, particularly when Swan rests there, and I'd expect him to kick a couple of goals.

Ablett showed what a high possession winning midfielder can do to adelaide scoring wise, and I'd expect Swan to get 130 points barring some mishap.

For my team my preference is:

1) Swan
2) Pendlebury
3) Pavlich - could be very ugly for Port
4) Sandilands
5) Selwood
6) Deledio (should murder a weakened Essendon)

Re: Round 9 Captain

swan v crows...

crows are worse than they've ever been. pies are better than they've been in a long time.
robert shirley is not there to tag swan.
swan will run rings around them, closely followed by pendles. (as much as i hate to say it)

haha, I'm a week behind...

He only averaged 94 in his last 5 against Port including a 52 and an 84.

He has averaged 100 at AAMI in his last 5 including a 132 earlier this year.

Re: Round 9 Captain

Who the F is Monty? Im going to assume Goddard, ive never heard that nickname before.

I assumed "Monty" was him also. Pretty sure Montagna is "Joey"

Yeah, 99% sure it is Montagna as Goddard is listed separately in the poll.

lol, i was like lol.

My bad, yes Joey Montagna although I thought there were a number of us who referred to Montagna as Monty.

Still really undecided about who i'll be running with. Swan seems the safest bet i guess, with the law of averages he's about to go BANG but for some reason I don't like him for this week.

Re: Round 9 Captain

Jonathan Brown. Loves playing North, and will be absolutely raring to go. Should dominate against a pretty week defence, providing the ball gets down there (recent weeks suggest it won't ).

Little bit crazy, I know, but I'm doing horribly so far this year so I don't have much to lose.

Go Browny.

You still have him? Or did you pick him back up this week?
Little bit risky yes. I'm thinking of N Reivoldt, Looked good in first quarter last week. Hopefully saints can put it together for 4 this time.
Or his cousin could be abit of a smokey. Has kick like 6 and 5 goals the last two games against Essendon. But that was Pears. I'm sure Hooker/Hardingham won't let him have a sniff this time around.
