I thought I read somwhere that Collingwood had over 70k members?? Sounds like crap if they didnt even get a crowd of 40,000 today at etihad.

The team was winless at the bottom of the ladder and it was p***ing with rain. Every team's crowds drop off when they are going badly.

The AFL is still miles ahead of the "best ever season" the NRL are supposed to be having

NRL last full round 132,107 ave 16,513 AFL 304,506 ave 38,062 which is more than DOUBLE the RL crowds.

The NRL trolls can bleat about their TV ratings ( lets face it the people sitting at home contribute nothing to the game directly) I would rather still have bums on seats as well for the massive income from ticket sales and food/ drink concessions they generate.

Some of the NRL games like the Storm only getting 9000 to AAMI Park Melbourne would barely pay for the rent.The RL clubs relying on pokies income so much could be in really big trouble if the govt gets the pokies reforms through.

I was at the game and on the scoreboard it did say 38,849 and also watched the replay on fox and BT said it was 38,849!

How do the RL crowds fair against the super 15 (far better of the two imho)?

I know it's a different kettle of fish with 2/3 of the teams RSA/NZ, but it'd still be an interesting point if you had a look at the NRL/S15/AFL crowds combined

Interesting read was posted on another thread about the low attendances for one of the NRL games

I thought the Sydney crowd was excellent. A few disappointing turnouts but the truth is that Port and Brisbane are in trouble and will struggle at the gate til they pick up.
