Port and Brissy will be struggling for 15,000 if they keep going the way they are.

The AFL is still miles ahead of the "best ever season" the NRL are supposed to be having
NRL last full round 132,107 ave 16,513 AFL 304,506 ave 38,062 which is more than DOUBLE the RL crowds.
The NRL trolls can bleat about their TV ratings ( lets face it the people sitting at home contribute nothing to the game directly) I would rather still have bums on seats as well for the massive income from ticket sales and food/ drink concessions they generate.
Some of the NRL games like the Storm only getting 9000 to AAMI Park Melbourne would barely pay for the rent. The RL clubs relying on pokies income so much could be in really big trouble if the govt gets the pokies reforms through.

So yeah, this week was a bit poor, but in perspective I went to the Storm v Cronulla game today (because the Dons had a bye) and the crowd there was 9,337 or something..
But the Storm won, so that's sweet.
Over 50,000 at the G today for Collingwood and West Coast was a great result, I thought. Can't remember Collingwood drawing that many against an interstate team for quite a while...maybe against Sydney in RD 21, 2009? Anyway, good effort.
Three sub 10k crowds in a row for the Murdoch Storm - god help their crowds if they ever struggle on the field. But hey, all their poor crowds are a result of Olympic Park...oh, wait...
Round 11 crowds
Essendon v Melbourne (MCG) 53,077
Geelong v Western Bulldogs (Kardinia) 25,078
West Coast v Gold Coast (Subiaco) 36,815
Collingwood v St Kilda (MCG) 62,991
Brisbane v Sydney (Gabba) 22,150
Hawthorn v Fremantle (MCG) 31,925
North Melbourne v Adelaide (Docklands) 18,185
Port Adelaide v Carlton (Football Park) 23,192
how many does skilled hold? 25 is a pretty poor crowd.
No its probably about right, the public area was 85% full, AFL members was only at about 65% even though it was 80% sold with only supposedly the back rows of Q available but there was no one sitting up the top, what let the crowd down yet again was the MCC was completely empty, be suprised if there was more than a couple of thousan thereDoes anyone else think there were way more than 63k at the pies v saints game?
There is no way that ground was only 63% full.
Think it might have been a sell out, just the odd member not showing up. Standing room looked as full as it gets. Not bad! How many does skilled hold? 25 is a pretty poor crowd.
16,000 free tickets...

Ok sorrySource?? I know we were doing a 'bring a friend' promotion for members, but I doubt 16,000 members brought friends, otherwise... the crowd would have been 32k +. Given there were 31k there, completely unrealistic!

Attending football games is discretionary spending, given the chance most Collingwood, Carlton, Richmond etc. fans would favour attending a game against a strong Victorian game over and above Fremantle.
