Ah, the matches have been announced:

Day 1:
Tomic vs. Wawrinka
Hewitt vs. Federer

Day 2:
Hewitt/Guccione vs. Wawrinka/Federer

Day 3:
Tomic vs. Federer
Hewitt vs. Wawrinka

No surprise there, neither Hewitt or Wawrinka are 100 percent fit coming into the tie but are still the team's best options by far. Pretty tough for Australia coming into a tie 2-0 down as we basically are, going to take a tough effort to win this thing. I don't know how Matosevic got up for this tie but he's in the team and what Ebden has done not to get in the team...

Is Hewitt under an injury cloud or something? If Matosevic fills in for him we can kiss this tie goodbye right now (I have nothing against him BTW, just the way it is). I'm looking forward to watching some tennis on FTA though.

Hewitt is still trying to get over that foot injury, he said he's as close to 100 per cent as he can be which probably needs he's doing everythign imaginable just to be right for this tie. He was also asked about the rest of the season and all he said was that the main aim was to be fit for this tie which tells me he is still struggling to get fit and the softer grass i probably what is helping him to play. Not that he usually plays the end of season anyway.

Why is Hanley not playing doubles?

Think we'll struggle to win more than one rubber here. Someone should beat Stan though, he's garbage on grass.

Pretty much we're banking on beating Stan because "he's weak on grass" and then getting lucky in the dubs. If that's the case we ain't got a hope in hell. Still, I'm looking forward to watching Fed and FTA tennis.

TV Tennis Commentators do the best job or have the easiest job

edit - there wouldnt be more than a couple of thousand people there at the tennis court

Even though I dont mind the commentators, i found it cringeworthy when the commentators said: 'former world number 1 hewitt' VERSUS... 'ANOTHER former world number 1'

And the interviews for the players yesterday, Roger Federer came into town dressed up like a formula 1 driver

Good recovery from Bernie there. I think he started off a bit too passively and Wawrinka had him moving around quite a bit so he wasn't able to dictate the play as much. Up until latish in the second set it didn't look too promising for Bernard but he was able to sort of get things going, starting forcing the issue a bit more which was good to see.
Commentators seemed to think Stan was struggling a bit towards the end there. Is Chiudinelli here? He made need to fill in for the dubs.

Now for Hewitt Federer, hopefully Lleyton can make a decent fist of it.

From that 2003 footage

Grand slam titles since that day

Federer 15

Hewitt 0

I think he atoned for that one match

Dont you think?

C'MON!

Lol at commentators talking about the fanatics like they're actually great supporters. They may've been good back in the 90's but these days they're the biggest fair weather supporters in history. Only actually cheer when an Aussie is winning, and they don't give em shit when they need it most. **** them they're useless.

Lol at the commentators talking like Lleyton has a chance
Cringeworthy isn’t it? I mean it’s not 2003 anymore, we need to be realistic. Hewitt’s struggling with simply getting on the court these days, whereas Federer is still in great form. If Hewitt can get a set, it’d be a huge effort.

Its like game of AFL on the world stage

Useless

hewitt is past it, he might still be useful in this format but dont expect him to beat anyone inside the top 10.

hewitt 6-5 up with break of serve....

Another huge effort from Lleyton :thumbsu:
