That, to me, rules him out. He's either dedicated to a career in footy or he is not. He's not got the greatest engine at the best of times but if he wasn't fit enough to run out games at NEAFL level (and he's always struggled to do the same at AFL level), then I'm not inclined to take the punt.

I make no secret of the fact that im a huge Proud fan but I personally think his football would be best served interstate - possibly in a red sash ;)

Hird & co. sniffing around.
Sorry, I was being a bit facetious.

Good luck to Albie if he gets a run again at senior level. FWIW, I am glad my club isn't taking the punt. Even when fully dedicated (if he ever was at the club), he never seemed to be able to impact the contest for any more than a few minutes. Loved watching him at Reserves level and there's lots to like about him as a footballer but the ability to run out games is pretty much a necessity these days.

Maric delisted by Melb.

Interesting given our shortage of small forwards. I think there are a lot less talented players currently on the Melb list. He had a 30+ possession game this year when he had the chance to hunt the ball.

I'm on the Daniel Currie bandwaggon.
You'd want to get a pretty clear medical report. Has never played a full season and finished this year in a moon boot (on that basis, he'd be a good fit for us).

But he is talented, nonetheless.

Agreed. Always liked what I saw from him. Atttitude/fitness concerns?

I would leave a list vacancy to pick up a young ruck/forward with pick 69. This bloke, Ben Brown, Mitch Brewer, Tom Downie etc.

I may be reading the Kerr Report the wrong way, but I don't see us taking a Ruck prospect in the ND (unless Longer were to fall to #8). More likely the case in the RD, where there are are a no. of possibilities, including those you have listed, with Brewer the favourite according to the "BF whispers".
Hudson will already occupy a Senior List spot, but will most likely only appear when "Leuey" is unavailable (saving the rare occassion where we may go in with two ruckmen).
Kerr Report - We didn’t feel the young ruckmen on our list had the level of improvement within them to be regular AFL players - We need a ruckman capable of providing immediate support to Matthew Leuenberger - The reality is that Ben out-performed each of the other available ruckmen over the course of the season

This is not the time for "list cloggers".
Kerr Report - AFL lists are expected to be reduced when the CBA is finally completed. Ben’s willingness to take it a year-at-a-time assists us from a list management point of view

Further reference suggesting that selections, hopefully, will not be required to play in the near future (so need not be on the Senior List):
Kerr Report - Ben will not only provide support for Matthew, but he will assist in the development of our young talls who we don’t want to throw to the wolves by asking more of them than they are ready to deliver.

My take for the ND is that we may favour the tall who could potentially pinch hit in the ruck, when it is a choice between two equal ability candidates.
But I don't think we will go tall just for the sake of it.

:footy:

I reckon for the first two picks, we should go with "best available" philosophy. OIt seems that apart from Longer, most of the KPPs in this draft will be speculative. I know all picks can be hit & miss but there just doesn't seem to be a strong consensus as to who are the real good ones in the 8 to 12 range.

I am however predicting it will Sumner or Greene at 8 (preferably the former) and Grigg at 12.

My prediction at this stage...

Kavanagh at 8, Kersten at 12.

Agree on this one.

Cant see GWS leaving Wingard on table for Port. Port would inturn take WHE before us.

Patton, Coniglio, Tyson, Wingard, Will Hoskin-Elliott, Longer should be taken one way or the other before us (unless someone rockets up the draft order late)

Leaves one GWS pick in the air (possibly a KPP) and then us.

Umm no, Mitch Clark...Simon is way too loyal.

Undersized for a KPF - wont be a genuine key position player in their eyes.

Again Kersten would be just a want but not a NEED for them. Chris Bond's mantra. :D

Of course, Bond would only offer us pick 45 anyways.

I'm trying to find some vision of Kersten in action...Doesn't seem to be any around ?
