He's a "shoe-in".
He is Tasmanian, after all.........and we know how much Quigley loves them.......

Hehe, nice jinx. Quigs just took Kersten. :thumbsu:

My turn. Schade a "shoe-in".

I like all of Schade, Brown, Owen and McKenzie. Any of the first three would fit major needs for us in the tall dept and McKenzie would also be pretty handy in the clinches.

Quigs, Have you seen Mitch Brewer? I have footage, 204cm(Still growing), 115kg Ruckman/FWD Moves well, has good awareness, tackles well, good mark and kick puts pressure on opponents,

And he is a Queenslander. He would prefer to stay home but would move for a spot on an AFL list, Certainly worth a shot late in the draft/ rookie draft.

Shane Kersten
DOB 15/3/93 Ht 191 Wt 91

Kersten is your classic old fashioned full forward ...........The big knock against him is his height. He comes in at just over 190cm which is short for a modern FF............ His lack of height may cause him some issues but for me I take him every time over a guy 5 cm taller with no real idea around goal.

Kersten definitely has the speed to get separation and he has the smarts to time it right and lead to dangerous spots..............

Kersten is an excellent shot for goal having a balanced approach and a big leg on him. He is dangerous from outside 50 and is a dead-eye dick from tight angles.......

Overall there are a few areas which he needs to improve on but the kid has the makings of a gun full forward........ He has had things a bit easy at junior level and needs a work ethic drummed into him............ He is a major talent imho.

Shades of Jack Darling 2010.......we passed up on him...... and he turned out to be not too bad.

There seems to be a lot of links to us on BF of us to Brewer but I am not sure exactly where they have come from. They could be true but I honestly have no idea at the moment. I have not seen Brewer play myself.

Given his lack of experience and playing in Qld I would be surprised if he was taken in the main draft. He did not get an invite to State Screening and that usually means you are unlikely to be drafted. With that said he does sound like a guy who is tailor made for us to take in the rookie draft as a project ruck. I really like the potential of Sam Cabrera and personally I would not mind if we took both those two guys are rookie projects.

Unless we were the only ones onto him, and wanted to keep it that way.

Being from Broadbeach, one would suspect GC would also be aware of him.
If he is a considered pick by the Lions, they may need to get him before the PSD/Rookie.....or do you think GC are well set for Rucks.....probably so.....

I am assuming he is the Brewer that was seen on some of the Nth NEAFL "Broady" replays on Ch518.......if so, can't say that I took a lot of notice as far as a draft prospect was concerned......looked more mature than an 18/19 year old....maybe someone can put me straight.

Cotter you are a disturbing individual.

Nice picks so far Quigley, I can see Kersten becoming a 70 goal a year FF, good pick up.

This years Sean Tighe ? :D

If only we could splice the genes of Austin Lucy, Mitch Brewer, Sean Tighe and Tyler Chalwell into one massive fanboi's dream.

He is 19 years old, More of a chance in the rookie draft. Used to play Rugby.

GC are certainly set for Rucks/Fwds.

I honestly don't think Kersten will play as a KPF in the AFL.

Why? His height? Kersten is a very similar player to Fevola (who's 1cm taller) but didn't seen to have much trouble out marking opponents who were taller than him.

Kersten reads the ball in the air much better than most forwards in this draft and can out smart defenders by it. Not to mention he's a excellent lead up forward. He doesn't need to be 200cms.

Brewer: ambivalent

Tighe: didn't rate him

Chalwell: looked like late rookie potential.

Lucy: :o:o:o:o:o:o:o

As, I told you before from what I seen he was good but did not seem as good as others rate him, He played like a third tall IMO. Do you have any different footage that I could watch to have another look at him?

Ah yes.
I seem to recall you getting a fair amount of stick on here re. Lucy............or am I confusing you with some other BrownDog ?

The very same.

To be fair, I wasn't Robinson Crusoe on Lucy though... others rated him very highly, and not just Brisbane supporters.

Think pick #8 needs to be Adam Tomlinson :thumbsu: Only a few quality KPF in the draft think year :footy:

Got on board the A-TOM train!!!!!!!!!!!!

In a similar vein, I did a follow-up the other day on that Jordan Eades bloke that Quigley had us all excited about last year. Turns out he's been a bad boy.

Yeh his off field exploits probably had a fair bit to do with teams avoiding him last year. Last I heard he was up on burglary charges. Watch them all you want on the field but its hard to get much character information.

Lucy was taken second or third round by Essendon so its not like the professionals weren't onboard with him.

Chalwell I didn't get onboard with. Tighe I included in there somewhere I think but not high. He could be a reasonable shot to be drafted this year actually. He had a good year in the VFL.

There seems to be more uncertainty this year about who are likely to be the best picks at 8 and 12 than what is normally the case.
