Bootsma. Great footy name.

Geez Tomlinson seems like a good kid on top of everything else.
Like him a lot. I don't think he is a red herring with us.
If Hadley thinks 8 is our only chance to get him, I say go for it.
Plenty of smalls still to like at pick 12. Really starting to like Sam Docherty there.
After the Giants, the Brisbane Lions are the next biggest player at the sharp end of the NAB AFL Draft with picks 8 and 12 and what they decide to do with those picks will have a cascade effect later in the first round.
Like all clubs at this time of the year, the Lions are keeping their cards close to their chests, but it is widely believed they would ideally like to bolster their midfield and add a key position prospect with those picks.
Oakleigh Chargers' Toby Greene, who has a reputation for finding plenty of the football, is currently the popular choice at No. 8, with TAC Cup teammate Adam Tomlinson in the frame to head north at pick 12.
How the Giants feel about those two lads will largely determine whether the Lions have their way. Greater Western Sydney have a few mids to add before Greene so he should be available at No. 8, but it remains to be seen whether the Giants will allow Tomlinson, one of the most highly rated talls in the draft, to slip through their picks between 9 and 11.
Just watched the Liam Summer youtube clip. It looks more like a T. Greene highlight reel with all his in close work and feeding it out to Summer..
Want the lions to snap up Greene at 8 and the best tall forward available at 12. I think Kersten could be the goods, we need smart players around the goals.. He is pretty agile IIRC could be the prototype 2nd KPF.
Also very much warming to the Greene/Tomlinson combo.
Me also, although Buntine/Tomlinson sounds pretty good too....
I'm hoping for the Buntine/Tomlinson exacta or at least one of them.
The GWS picks are becoming very intriguing. If they want Buntine and Tomlinson assuming Wingard goes to Port, they leave themselves with Longer/Hoskin Elliot on the table for us. If they leave Tomlinson or Buntine, no doubt we must take one of them. My only issue with Longer, and I am no expert having not seen him live, is my belief we need a FWD/Ruck or KPP more than another Ruck resting FWD.
Tomlinson does sound like a nice fit for us, sounds big enough for a KP and could slot in at either end, handy as we have lisle who could end up either end yet also. Adds genuine depth to each end. Leaves a mid with the other pick, Greene sounds good as a ball feeder for our other mids.
Gee i hope we bite the bullet and take Tomlinson with pick 8. Seems quite level headed, has that real versatility for a tall and we've been well served by Trinity grammarians in the past. Hoping that Kavanagh will slide to us for 12, just have a good feeling about him, don't know why.
Not a knock on Tomlinson at all but his versatility is not something that I'm super-interested in. I'd rather a master than a jack of all trades. We've got Staker and Lester who look likely to be our short and long term swing man. We've got Lisle who reportedly has dual position capability. That's a fair bit of flexibility built into the 22 already.
Again, not a criticism of Tomlinson at all - I quite like him. But I'm not sure I'm seeing the magic that elevates him above the pack. If "versatility" is a main selling point, then I reckon we ignore that and focus on whether he is capable of being an elite forward or back, rather than whether he can be competent at both ends.

I think you maybe missing what it is that people are excited abouut with Tomlinson - what sets him apart from the pack.
At the combine he ranked 7th in the 3km time trial, & 10th in the beep test - midfielder numbers. For a guy at 194 cm to do this let alone the ability on show on the field is something to get excited about. This is the sort of thing JB & Riewoldt based their games on, grinding their opponent into the ground through exhaustion.
He is a forward but was thrown around by Oakleigh. Sides in the TAC tend to do this, as the competition is based on taking guys to the next level, so while rgame results are important player education can surpass this.
His versatility is nice but it isn't his strength.

At the Draft Combine, the tall's results put his running in the elite category for a big man. He ran 20m in 2.93sec, registered a 14.10 beep test and ran 3km in 10min 40sec.
