I think there is a smattering of inside info picks in Phelan's mock although I tend to agree with you. The Elton to Saints picks accords with what everyone has been saying. Also Justin Clarke to the Hawks accords with what EQ mentions in her blog.
When I was reading it I did think that he had added sentences here and there to acknowledge something I had read on BF or to stave off BF critics. It seems certain I think that he spent a fair bit of time on the D&T board - then again if I was in his position I would do that too so hard to criticise too much.

I've never seem him play, but Docherty sounds pretty similar to Hanley from some of the descriptions.

Pretty good comparison, Docherty with a more penetrating kick though.
Ideally one of them would end up in the midfield eventually.

Hi Crusha - you raise an interesting point. I do talk to people in the industry and you do get a feel for what clubs will do. Sometimes that's more specific and others it's more of an educated guess based on needs. I will say it's quite rare that you know 100% what a club will do at a particular pick.
If Hadley can add these players to the list, we'll be reaping the rewards for years to come. Will make fierce competition for places in the team come round 1 2012....
If we got Tomlinson at 8, I wouldn't mind swapping Docherty for Greene (who would probably still be there at 12)... Tomlinson/Greene/Schade/Downie would be an epic drafting...
We could still use a HBF in there, but we need a bit of everything really, and we've got guys who can stopgap til nextyear...

Sorry to kill the mood, but I know a Port scout who I spoke to about the draft and said that Port are very confident that Wingard will be available at #6 and that they will take him.

I am thinking we will take Tomlinson or Longer at 8 if either one is there. If both, i think we will go after our man Tomlinson, but i could see us going Longer. I certainly won't be disappointed if we end up with longer, but i still believe he is a bit of a wasted pick. At the same time, if Tomlinson is gone, i don't think we rate the other KPP enough to use a top pick on them. Instead of going Longer, i'd rather see us stick small and go a Green/Docherty type combo, and stick with a Talia/Schade at 30 to cover a defender, and a Brown/Downie at 47 to cover a ruck option.
Kerr did note in trade week that we did get Hudson because they felt Bergs is a top 3 ruck in the comp, and he needs a supporter player rather than actual competition. Longer is too good to be that support role we want. I'd rather see us go for Downie at 47 for a development player, and try our lucky at Tippett next year to cover that 2nd ruck spot.

If it comes down to it, if i was GWS, i'd take a calculated risk of taking Tomlinson first, knowing it is less likely we would take Longer. If they miss him, they can take another ruckman this draft, and maybe look towards getting a star ruck next year with the #1 pick that they will have.
