195cm I think his tall enough and has some leap there, I've managed against giants and I'm 180 cm, You don't need to be a giant an 200cm plus to play ruck. Well I guess only if you face Sandilands.

Something to add to this, Darren Ewing (NT Thunder) would he be worth a go as a Mature Age Rookie/Recruit for our forward line.Looks like his killing it in the NEAFL, from what I read in the Aaron Corneluis thread anyway.

Mids are vital eventhough the KPP's take time. Watched the games showing Vic Metro v's Vic Country and also SA v WA. Dom Tyson (Vic M) or Mitchell Grigg (SA) are both players who have very good foot skills. Speed is something that we need but our kicking efficiency is about the worst in the league. It's no good to be able to run past a few players and then turn it over with a bad kick. A smoky, eventhough he is starting to be spoken about a bit more is a boy from TAS is Julian Dobosz. Stands at 192cm and will hopefully grow a few more but did kick some goals throughout the championships. Should fall through till later in the draft and would be a prime pick then.

I did rate our 2010 draft as it had a combination of players and i think that we will see the same again. Personally, from all the talk next years draft is a cracker (same as 2001 draft - hodge, ball, judd and some bloke called D.Swan taken at pick 58) and we should be using all our concession picks.

Our list will take a number of years to rebuild properly unless we do a Richmond and take the best part of a decade or more.

Dane Swan was a forward for Williamstown aka Collingwoods magoos for many years, I take it all back to good coaching, why his as good as he is now.

I would love for us to draft Will Hoskin-Elliot! Fast player with consistent and well above average foot and hand skills on both sides of his body. Sounds like exactly the type of player our midfield needs. Quigley what are your thoughts on him? I don't think he will last to our pick unfortunately but still worth talking about.

Lachie Henderson could have comfortably played either role but apparantly one trick pony full forwards were rated more important.
Fairly sure you may have said this once or a thousand times before. Doesn't make you any more right to repeat it.

Travis Cloke's 19 possessions, 9 marks and 7 shots on goal this round certainly prove that.

one thing is clear from the games this week and last week, the lions are desperate for big-bodied backmen. merrett goes down and we haveno-one to replace him.

makes it all the more important imo that we do all we can to recruit someone like a Mitchell Pert under father/son, who has the potential and the body to fulfill that role like his old man.

Not every team has a good back up to come in to replace a #1 key defender, however, our problem is there is no youngsters that we can play that would benefit from the game time. Usually you would just shuffle the match ups around, put your #2 defender onto the #1 forward, #3 defender onto the #2 forward, bring in the young kid and give him the 3rd tall forward to play on.

We become unstuck here because as useful as Patfull is as a defender, he isn't good enough to take the #1 forward, and we have no young defenders to develop. There is promise with Lester, going forward, but we definately need a genuine FB defender i think. I feel with Lester, McKeever and Staker we can get away without drafting a CHB maybe this year, either Lester or McKeever might be able to play a CHB in future years (not that you would depend on it) but there is no one able to be that genuine defender. FB is a priority, I'd be tempted to go the best available forward and best available defender with our first 2 picks this year, look for another mid with pick #3 and maybe a versatile ruck option with #4 maybe. Go for some top mids next year in the draft.

Let's be clear about one thing. We need improvement and new players across all areas. That's why i think we should be looking at next years draft - eventhough we don't know which picks specifically we will have. Therefore if we are to look at shoring up our front and back with KPP's from this draft what names spring to mind or are there a few already on the radar for next year?

Interesting dilemma - do we fill the holes in the starting 22 or start looking for key position back ups. Maybe a bit of both. Fill the desperate gap with the first pick then down the draft look for a KP.

I think you have to look forward Nuggo. We aren't pushing for glory next year, and Merrett won't be around for ever either. I'd like to see us draft a defender for the future and get some games into him. Perhaps a mature age recruit might be an option for the short term though, especially if we ditch Goose perhaps ?

If Clark was to go to Richmond or Freo would the one of the first rounders we get for him be used to get Shane Kersten? He'd be a great replacement for Clark and could possibly fill the void when Brown retires.

If we have a top 10 pick i am not sure whether we need a Hurley type more than a pacey elite midfielder.

I guess how we rate Polec, Green, Bartlett, Harwood and Beams and if we keep Clark will influence that decision.
