if Billy Longer is available, we should get him no doubt, he should fill the role nicely replacing clark. Hayden Crozier might be a good selection for us as a small forward. players like liam sumner, will hoskin-elliot , yeh they're good, but where will they be placed for brisbane? if Dom Tyson is available, he should be a great long time player for the lions, especially black soon reaching the end of his career.

No to Crozier, Longer will not be available.

Well i'd say we are certainties to take a ruckmen in the draft unless we trade one in.

Certainly hope so. But a young ruckman won't necessarily offer value for the first couple of years. We should be looking to trade for an experienced ruck...Cameron Wood anyone ????? No Way Jose!

From what I have seen of Maric, I'd like him as a back up to Luey.

mmm we so many needs, Ruck, KPD, KPF, Small forwards, Mid...well pretty much all positions.

Looking at the likely top 30 in this draft I think we need to look at trading in a Ruck, and I think mark Blake would come very cheaply and scott would get the deal done for us for a respectable 4th or 5th rd pick.

I really like hoskin-Elliott for our pick 8 still, but if he goes early then I really think we need to strongly consider taking Elton.

We should have pick 16 from Freo, so we can look at hopefully getting Green or talia if they slide.

The fact is we really need a quality mid, KPD, & KPF from this draft, and could potentially miss out on one of these even considering our many picks...But that can be made up next year. Personally I think we can buy some time in the midfield with beams, barlett, green and polec still coming through, so starting to develop a KP combo of Elton and Talia could really set us up in a few years.

You do know you don't have to draft all your players in one draft yeah?

This is what I would do to address a couple of problems:

Pick 8 - small med maybe Grigg, Hoskin-Elliot, Sumner
Pick 16 - KPF maybe Dobosz or Kersten
Pick 27 - trade to Collingwood for Keeffe 204cm Qlder KPD/Ruck
Pick 30 - Tom Downey 205cm ruck. Raw Australian under aged basketballer. Done well in few games at the end of the year.
Pick 33 - Jack Frost 194cm 19yr old KPD who played VFL this year. Good athleticm and I prefer him to Boseley.

Rookie draft
Cabrera - raw Qld ruck prospect with plenty of talent and great size.
Kellan Geary - really has done everything asked of him. Tom Rockliff mark II.
Brad Hill - Stephen Hill's brother. Pacy wing / forward.
Kyle Hartigan - improving 19 (almost 20) KPD who has two years in the VFL.

I think we should try and turn 16 into 4 or 5, and get a look at wingard, longer or tyson...

Problem is, how do you do this ?? I think with Freo's pick 16 in there, we have another year with a good 5 picks in the top 30. We've been nailing our picks recently, lets back ourselves in an maybe look at trying to get a compo pick from someone for next year. With how good next year is ment to be, if we can get another 5 or so picks in the top 30 we should be set.

1). (no. 8) Will Hoskin-Elliot
Pick for Clark (no.16) Fraser McInness
2). (no. 29) Waylen Manson
3). (no. 30) Julian Dobosz
4). (no. 34) Trade for Hamish McIntosh, Tom Bellchambers, Jonathon Griffin, Mark Seaby

6). (no.70) Jimmy Webster

I think Collingwood would baulk at pick 27 for Keeffe....but I think it is not far off the mark. I think they'd rather keep him if that was the trade price but the lure of a game every week, plus some additional coin/contract security, might see him force the Pies hand a little.

i would wait and see how Port go sorting out their ruck in trade week first. If Port settle their rucks then we should push for one of these guys to go into the PSD.

I would only use pick 34 for Bellchambers.

mcIntosh, seaby, & griffin have gone from regular AFL players to reserve players...not the type of players that demand a trade, and I suspect these guys would be happy to nominate into the PSD

i wonder what his contract status is? I know he signed a senior contract recently but with him being rookie listed twice I doubt he would have got a long contract and possibly only a 1 year extension??

The problem with the pies is that they will have serious salary cap issues in the next few years, and will find it hard to retain all the fringe players...especially after successfully holding onto Davis, peds, and swan.

If the pies could only offer the saints pick 34 for Luke Ball, then I don't think we should over pay for a project player.

It all depends on his contract, but the lions have the PSD card this year, and probably even next year

In my mind we should be seeing how we can get higher picks in this years draft. We really are a building side and i don't want an older player via trade week or clark trade to come in and take away game time from our younger players who are going to be taking us forward. It would be difficult to get our pick 8 higher but it is the possible pick 16 from Freo that we could give to GWS and one of our older players to better it to possible 13 or 11. In my mind is Josh Drummond or Joel Patfull or both to see pick 8 to 7 and previous quoted pick 16 to higher. GWS hold alot of cards and it will take a brave person to play but i would be keen.

Would rather keep both players Patful can play as a KPD and Drummond plays an important role when not injured, And if we did that we would have just lost 2 players from our defensive unit.
