Would rather keep both players Patful can play as a KPD and Drummond plays an important role when not injured, And if we did that we would have just lost 2 players from our defensive unit.

Played fairly big chunk without Drummond for the year so i'm used to not seeing him out there. Not really going for both players but just ideas as to who we could put up. Buchanen is another and as the bloke who usually sits two seats down from me at the footy would put up Raines. I'm comfortable with pick 8, just interested how we could improve the value of pick 16.

Outside of our pick 8 and hopefully pick 16 I would like to know the quality of players most likely available at our other picks in this apparently thin draft?? I can research the names people have posted here but most articles talk them all up as having excellent skills so I have been struggling to get a good grasp!

We would use 8, 16, priority pick and compo pick, i would be happy for us to use the first 3, trade our next 2 picks for ruckman and then steal a young bloke in the psd!

i would wait and see how Port go sorting out their ruck in trade week first. If Port settle their rucks then we should push for one of these guys to go into the PSD.

I would only use pick 34 for Bellchambers.

mcIntosh, seaby, & griffin have gone from regular AFL players to reserve players...not the type of players that demand a trade, and I suspect these guys would be happy to nominate into the PSD

Good choice, plus bellchambers fits our age bracket of 20-24. perfect ruckman for the future.

I have a feeling that Essendon won't want to give Bellchambers up very easily and that his cost would be much higher than that. With Hille in the later years of his career and Bellchambers playing very well early in the year, we would have to give up much more than that for him if Essendon would even consider it.

Yep agree.. not sure Bellchambers would be available fullstop....Hille lost big time against Warnock on Sunday...

Why are we even talking about Hille. Seriously, the trade week has got to peoples heads already. We don't need older rucks, we should be looking at younger ones. We have a top rate ruckman in Bergs, we need a young developing forward/ruck. By the time we get anywhere as a team, Hille is past it and retired, and we haven't developed anyone because he has been playing. Development and youth are our priorities.

I reckon we'd just about let him walk. Let alone pick 34. Be surprised if he played more than 10 or 15 next year, is well on the way.

what's the bombers thoughts on Jenkins, is he a keeper and will he get time in the seniors next season?

we dont need another midfielder, weve got too many on our list

we need a key/forward ruckman, to replace mitch clark. i think if billy longer (northern knights) slides down to pick 8, we need to get him.

Imagine the combination of Leuenberger/Longer, gives leuenberger support, and both of them can go down forward and take some solid marks,

We dont need a half forward flanker, especially with power leaving, beams and staker and the perfect fits for that position, and of course polkinghorne on the other flank. Our backline is great, our oldest in the back half i think is Maguire around 28, hes still got some good years in him.

We have nothing to worry about, other than getting a back up ruckman for leuenberger and i think longer could be the perfect fit, if we want to see the lions see some success.

adding on to what i said before,

even Kurt Tippett or Shaun Hampson if we can go for them.

they are both queenslanders, you never know if they want to go back home, like what mitch clark did.

It is obvious longer wont slide

ROFL

in this day and age the difference between the good and shit teams is their midfield and brisbane still have a way to go

tankton are the perfect example awesome midfield is the only reason they finished 5th without judd, murphy, squibbs etc etc they wuld be where they belong the bottom

Nothing is obvious. Anyone making ironclad predictions at this point about the draft order is deluding themselves.
normally i would agree bt the thought of gws passing on longer twice not including the top 3 which i doubt he will be taken in i.m.o

but then again they do have gubby in charge

It does suck how it is rare that the QLD talent wants to come home. That said I'd probably stay in Melbourne as well because I love the place.
It's irrelevant IMHO.
Astounds me how many posts are based off '...is from... therefore will want to go home/stay there...' compared to how often it actually happens, ie very, very rarely.

I doubt it'd play any part whatsoever in a club's thinking.

GWS wont go past Longer at 5, they will need him.
For starters, we don't know what will be offered to them in the mini-draft. If they get someone like Vardy, it might quell their enthusiasm. Similar with trade week.

Second, I'm not convinced it is in their best interests to put their eggs in the Longer basket. If Longer follows the same development path as Leuenberger, then they are 4-5 years away from having a viable starting ruck. It depends on how they rate Giles as a starting ruckman because Brogan's only on the playing list for a year.

Third, we don't know how Longer will stack up at the Draft Combine. Plenty of examples of guys dropping down the order after spending the better part of the year in the top 2 or 3. Rich?

Fourth, we don't know who is going to leap out of the ground between now and draft week. Guys shoot up in the rankings on the back of a great TAC final or an outstanding draft combine. If a so far (relatively) undiscovered big unit produces a NicNat like draft combine, that could make things very interesting.

Fifth, they can play this strategically. If they form the view that none of Gold Coast, Port or Brisbane are going to use a 1st round pick on a ruck (not beyond the realms of possibility), then they could roll the dice and pick up midfielders instead, letting Longer slide to a lower pick. This is effectively what the Gold Coast did with Tom Lynch last year, knowing that Richmond, West Coast, Brisbane and Essendon were all looking for midfielders.

You can be absolutely sure that the club is assessing Longer and working out, if he slides, whether or not he's a good fit.

Plenty of water to go under the bridge yet - don't dismiss other people's points of view based on the current BigFooty consensus. Things will change.
