Is there any reason Zorko hasn't been rookie listed in the past? Seems like he would be worth a look, is it just his height playing against him?

Re: Ask An Expert: Draftee Discussion
There is a young kid on the Gold Coast by name of Mitch Brewer who plays for Broadbeach, an absolute monster of a 19yr old, 204cm and 110kgs ruckman has had a lot of interest from Collingwood where he has family ties and also Vossy has been at a few of Broadbeach's games specifically to look at this guy.Played a couple of blinders apparently late in the season in the Eastcoast league or whatever they call it (they play against NT teams as well,...the new major league comp up there) He plays with a lot of aggresion apparently which would be a daunting prospect given the size of the kid.

Anyone got any info?

Yeah, seen him play a few times this year. Big lump of a lad, bit of an old school type ruckmen though. The games I've seen he isn't the most mobile big man I have ever seen and certainly doesn't have a huge skill set. Very big and aggressive though. I feel as though the game has passed by this type of ruckmen.

Suprised clubs are keeping tabs - but they certainly know more than I do.

I like Cam Shenton from Norwood as a mature ager. 21 this month , 186cm, third tall forward. Hard to match up on because he's quick and a strong mark. Doesn't necessarily suit the Lions but if he is still there for the rookie draft he'd be worth a punt.

we should look a Darren Pfeiffer from Norwood as a mature age recruit with a late pick. He is mid-20's of age and was pick 17 in the 2005 draft.

This year he has finally started to play to his potential and has really mature as a person. He is a real standout now in the SANFL and is playing under coach Nathan Basset who seems to be having a knack at getting mature aged players back up to speed (ie...Nick Duigan & Paul Puopolo)...I think he could be a real steal of the draft, and he is well and truely ready for another go in the AFL

From what I've seen Pfeiffer is too slow and won't test well at the combine/state screening. Getting his bodyshape right would be a start but I'm definitely not sold on him. I wouldn't want the Lions using a senior list spot on him.

The advantage of Duigan and Puopolo is that they always were very good defensively and they've also been able to get a bit of it in the AFL.

Speaking of rucks - how did Cabrera finish the year anyone?

I've got a feeling he didn't play out the year. Not sure if it was due to injury or what.

On another note..We could do a lot worse than rookie list Tungatalem. He was absolutely electric on Sunday. I would also look at Farrer and Rioli. Jed Anderson is going to be a very good AFL player.

Didnt play the final 3 games for QLD under 18's (vrs NT, NSW and Tas - I think smaller team picked for NT and then ? injured for final 2) and didnt see much of him for Aspley after that - ? injured

Pfeiffer is good enough (would be solid without being spectacular) and is being looked at by many clubs. He's not as quick as either Duigan or Puopolo but reads the play very well. He's playing on the ball and often starting in the backlines.

He's worth a later pick, and is probably just as risky as a third or fourth round pick. There are certainly others in the SANFL worth looking at too.

Please tell me Ben is Johnno Brown's 18 year old son who has travelled back in time to play in a premiership with his dad.

Brown would be a good get for us, should of drafted him last year but i understand why we didn't.

We probably delisted Mccauley because he wasn't able to play forward so drafting a ruckman who can makes perfect sense. ;) Plus he's Tasmanian therefore a must get.

Ok been reading these threads, checked the phantom drafts. Does anyone have any idea who we are linked to at all? I know it may be a tad early, but anyone have any inside knowledge?

Probably been most strongly linked to Will Hoskin-Elliot from what I've seen. Wouldn't mind him either. He'll be a star, it's just a matter of whether or not he slides down to number 8 or not. Fingers crossed.
