Bear in mind that players like Brown who are a year older are fair game for GWS to take as an uncontracted player. I am not getting too excited about him until we get some idea of who they are going to take.

For anyone interested, the TAC Cup Grand Final will be streamed online this morning from 10:20 @ www.taccup.com.au.

I think there'll be a $5 fee for the privilege but it'll be your last chance to see the likes of Tyson, Sumner, Frost et al before the draft combine.

I wonder whether we have any interest in Zorko?

The other QLD boy is Tom Bell from the panthers. Tom is an exceptional athlete and his form in the NEAFL has been red hot over the last couple of months.

Probably been most strongly linked to Will Hoskin-Elliot from what I've seen. Wouldn't mind him either. He'll be a star, it's just a matter of whether or not he slides down to number 8 or not. Fingers crossed.

Thats just pure speculation I think BPL was after something a little more concrete.

Their is one poster that appears here on the lead up to the draft that is on the money each year. Until he appears we are dealing with fantasy.

well word in SA is that Brogan will be traded to GWS for a young HB in from the SANFL. SO I wonder if the Lions will do a similar deal to get Zorko?

Where did you here this?

IMO Brogan has no currency. Will struggle to play 10 games next season.

Mark ricciuto on Adelaides MM rush hour show dropped alot of hints

also, a Brogan trade actually holds heaps of value when you consider Boak comes out of contract next season, and the GWS wont want to burn a uncontracted player spot on brogan which would stop them having a play at Boak.

likewise with the lions...The GWS will be keen to lure redden, so they won't risk picking power up as a uncontracted player. Personally I hope Power goes to GWS as a uncontracted sigining

I still rate Liam Sumner very highly and think he should definately be pushing for our pick, easily top 10 IMO. Pacy line breaker with good disposal who is inside and out with good pressure. IMO he is a slightly better prospect than Hoskin-Elliot, but it is close. Would be in the top 4 mids in the draft I think and could really fit into our team well.

Thanks Offsider. Do you have any concerns about his consistency? From the teeny bit I've seen of him he seemed closer to 80/20 outside/inside who drifted out of games...is that a false impression?

He can drift in and out of games ... but still manages to find a fair bit of the ball. I think he will improve to be a consistent player. But will always provide bursts of brilliance in which he will break through a pack in a game and deliver a pin point pass to a leading forward. His disposal is very good, and he will have a high disposal efficiency.

He is probably more outside, plays very well as a wing/flanker type. Yet is best IMO in the middle. Will not consistently win first possessions, can do but does not read the ruck taps as well as some of the elite stoppage players do, a bit reactive in that sense. But when he does he usually does very well and feeds it out well. He has great vision and decision making skills takes good options, is one area I really like. His pace and agility mean he can break lines and create more times. What he does well is get the second possessions off packs, he gets handball recieves and can be very damaging.

Im surprised Sumner has not been getting more love on here, he is my preference at our first pick. Seems like a player who could break into the team as a crumbing forward before moving into the midfield.

Is Elliot Kavanagh a chance for our 1st pick? What's he like?

Given our habit of overlooking those regarded as potential injury concerns eg. Selwood, & Heppell, I don't think he will be our 1st selection.

PS. not sure he is in the same class as the 2 mentioned, but just wanted to provide some evidence.

Agree on Kavanagh and his injuries, then again look at J Selwood. What i do like about the WHE and Sumner is their leg speed and disposal, saw some vision on Sumner and he just looked really clean and fluent with his delivery. In my mind it is out of these 3 that we should take at our first pick. I do like Grigg but he reminds me of Rich and might not be best fit for us. Some other mids that i like the look of for our later picks are Stephen Verrier, Lachlan Dalgleish and Nick Haynes. If these are around our second pick then they could be an option.
A KPDefender i think that we should be looking at are Sam Frost, Michael Talia, Adam Tomlinson, Henry Schade and Andrew Boseley. So would be happy with any of these but especially Frost or Talia. So i would use our second pick at (possible 16), if we don't have that then feel that those two will be gone by then and we will look at the other three.
KPForwards are Julian Dobosz, Joel Hamling and Jackson Paine, However i am not that totally sold on the future of any of the KPF in this draft. But it is an area of conern for us and we should look drafting a KPF with our third pick
Rucks for mind are also a necessity. If Myles Bolger is there i would be happy to take him but with big blokes they are a bit of a miss and hit affair and think that it's our later picks (rd3, 4 and PSD) that we should be looking to use on Rucks. Leif Cope, Tom Downie and Ben Brown could fall to these and think that is what we should use these picks for. So in summary,

Pick 8 - Mid - Sumner/ WHE or Kavanagh
(Possible) Pick 16 - KPD - Talia or Frost
Pick 29 + 30 - KPD or KPF - Tomlinson/Schade/Boseley - Dobosz/Paine/Hamling
Pick 34 - Verrier/Dalgleish/Haynes
Pick 52 - Ruck - Leif Cope/ Ben Brown/Tom Downie

A nice even spread as we are obviously needing alot in all areas. Any thoughts who else could be taken in those picks regarding those positions Or who would be even better than what i have suggested?

I think that Kersten from WA would be a good pick up as a KPF. Very much a lead up type prospect who can kick goals from not many disposals. Quick and good over head.

Issue is would he fit in our forward line and be the dominant #1 target we need, probably not as he seems more of a second target to me.

Someone on here floated Tyson Slattery a while back.
Well, he's yours if you want him. Defends well, scraps pretty well, footskills leave a bit to be desired.

Don't need him. Plenty of small defenders. It's the talls we need.

Agree with more of a dominant tall but as reported in the 'West Australian',
Kersten was surprisingly overlooked by Greater Western Sydney as part of their draft concessions last year despite proving he could play league football as a 17-year-old.
He began 2011 in the WAFL reserves but a serious elbow injury sidelined Kersten for 14 weeks and denied him the chance to play at the under-18 national titles.
But the Bulldog's response has been superb. He kicked bags of five, six and seven goals in the last three home-and-away games and then booted five more in the 38-point grand final win.

That certainly raises eyebrows. They also talked about a young bloke by the name of Mason Shaw who kicked seven in the same final. Could he be someone for next year and there is also the talk of Fraser McInnes as a KPD, thoughts?

I'm not really interested in other players from other clubs who we would have to trade for. Would rather build a list with kids and have that hunger grow with them as they play together over a number years. Trading for players would be done later on. Understand, our hand has been forced with Clark wanting to go back to Freo but i would gladly take pick 16 and either Pitt or Clarke but i can't see that happening. So just pick 16

I see him as very similar to Darling.
